The area is littered with small roads and pathways, enabling you to explore wild flowers (amazing orchids), wild birds, including birds of prey (a Kingfisher lives on the river) and many varied butterflies (the Swallowtail being quite common here). There are two local lakes for swimming (in addition to the rock pool) and another deep rock pool, close to the source of the river Alsou. Many mountain walks are available for walking or for use with mountain bikes. The area is stunning and a suitable base for artists, many of which live here. Paintings of local views are available from these artists by appointment.
Local attractions: In addition to the Cathar castles, there are thermal spa's, monasteries, museums, animal/bird sanctuaries, deep cave grotto's and much more.
