About Ruth Hochberg
Welcome to our Pasadena Bungalow! We love our charming Bungalow and use this home for family vacations and gatherings - as our family is spread out across the country. She was built in 1914 and I always marvel and think about the life this house has seen. My family history in Pasadena goes back generations. Our Pasadena Bungalow holds precious memories for our family and I hope that you too will be able to create wonderful moments here. I am so happy that we are able to share her character and charm. She truly is a gem!

Why Ruth Hochberg chose Bungalow Heaven
Pasadena is a city in California, northeast of downtown Los Angeles. In the center, Old Pasadena is a shopping and dining district known for its Victorian and art deco buildings. This beautiful city is famous for hosting the annual New Year's Tournament of Roses Parade and Rose Bowl. Pasadena has so much to offer; great restaurants, shopping, museums, and The Pasadena Playhouse stages acclaimed dramas and musicals. Pasadena is centrally located for all Southern California landmarks, theme parks, beaches etc.
What makes this House unique
You will absolutely fall in love with her charm. From her sweet, inviting front porch with views of this picturesque tree lined neighborhood, to all her 1914 built in character. The loft upstairs is one of my favorite areas with 2 balconies featuring mountain views and it's a perfect little quiet cozy get away. The master bedroom has a romantic view of the beautiful backyard and pool area, and is even more spectacular when lit up at night.

Loved our stay in Pasadena. The backyard was the highlight. The kids loved the pool and we loved the spa. The house was so lovely and everything we could have needed for our stay was provided. I highly recommend staying here.
Amazing Home!!! Worth every penny! Pay the extra for the pool!
This is such an amazing property! First of all the house is in a great neighborhood. The house is charming and very well stocked with thoughtful amenities. Everything from the designer hair dryers, French vanilla coffee, and lovely dishes were cheerful and charming. The beds we’re all comfortable, and the linens cozy. Everything was just in impeccable working order. But, the pool was amazing! Super clean and well heated, we spent hours hanging out in the pool and on the patio around the fire pit. We were six adults and a two-year-old and this house could not have been more perfect! I highly recommend staying here. I hope we can return some day. In any case we will will take away many find memories of our stay here.
Beautiful home, amazing pool and hot tub
It is a beautiful and peaceful home in a very quiet neighborhood. Every detail has been thought of. Great for a relaxing family vacation. I would definitely stay again!
Great house, great location. Everything we needed for a family celebration weekend. The outdoor amenities are excellent, and the entire property is at a very high spec. Highly recommend this property.
Simply the best
Ruth, our host, thoughtfully anticipated a guest’s needs. The bungalow is spotless, the pool and spa sparkling. The neighborhood is quiet, the yard private. This is a gem with great vibes.
cute comfortable and convenient
This property is very " user friendly" and was clearly designed with renters in mind. I wouldn't try to sleep more people than recommended however, as space is limited, (though well planned so it feels roomier than it is). Excellent array of kitchen supplies, bath towels,
( AND hooks for hanging drying towels on). Quality furnishings, well decorated, very few rugs (great for keeping allergens to a low). The loft space is better suited for kids as the beds are rather tiny, but a very nice space otherwise. While it does have 2 showers - we found one of them to be very difficult to use as it's a bathtub with a shower curtain that only keeps water off the of floor if you place the curtain inside the tub - except that then there's no room for you to shower since it's too tiny a tub for all that curtain. The other issue with the showers was water pressure - especially difficult to wash your hair with such low pressure. But there was plenty of hot water so that was helpful. For all the adorable perks this quaint house offers, I am afraid we wouldn't stay again because there is a very disagreeable odor permeating the home (even with the windows open all day it is still overwhelming). When we first entered we thought perhaps the gas stove had been left on but we couldn't find any reason for the unpleasant smell. Also, although we appreciated the extra blankets on the ends of the beds, they were clearly unwashed, which made us leery of the comforters, but the full sized washing machine and dryer was convenient and allowed us to wash the sheets at least. The backyard is beautiful and peaceful (like the neighborhood) and the location is great for visiting the Pasadena area. We may be a bit pickier than most when it comes to cleanliness and don't mind paying larger cleaning fees, but this house was surface cleaned at best. If our cleaners left half used bars of soaps in uncleaned shower baskets, and mildew under the dome shaped fixture on the sink's surface to the left of the faucet, and neglected to clean the inside of the fridge/freezer and outsides of the toilets, uncleaned blankets, etc. I'd look for another crew.
I hate to leave a less than stellar review , especially since Ruth was very pleasant and accommodating. We'd have loved to stay here again, but the smell that seems to permeate the house itself was pungent enough that I'm afraid we honestly couldn't enjoy another stay here. Hope it's an issue that can be remedied for future guests.
Adele: I appreciate the input, however it surprises me greatly as we have never had any feedback that our home was anything but very clean and never had any complaints of any "pungent" smell. Regarding the water pressure, welcome to California low flow shower heads for water conservation. There's nothing I can do about that. I'm sorry you did not have as excellent a stay as you hoped.
Great location for Southern California theme parks, attractions, and beaches. Most are within one hour or less from our home.
