Maison propre et confortable

  • 5 of 5

Nous avons passé 2 nuits dans cette maison confortable, propre et bien équipée, située dans un tranquille petit village de pêcheurs. Les voisins de Nathalie nous ont accueillis, parking à proximité, petit jardin.

Peaceful, well situated and warm.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was easy to walk to from the harbor where we parked the car. The neighbors were fantastic, very welcoming and helpful. The place was ideal for the three of us; as the set up downstairs is communal, it meant we spent quality time together. We used the room downstairs constructively, so the 'chef' was not left in the corner to work. It wasn't hard to create a very cosy atmosphere. There are lots of things to do within driving distance, however, if walking is called for, then a short trek up the beach does the trick. We ate at the local pub, and the food was lovely. The only shortfall was that there were a few kitchen utensils we had to buy as the things were either too well used or broken (knife and chopping board), the oven had been left with burnt pepperoni in it, so I thought we were burning the food and my daughter said her bed was too hard. Despite these hiccups, I would recommend the place to anyone who loves peace, a beautiful scenery and a welcoming community.

Lovely Cottage, Ideal Location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was ideally located a few minutes from the village shop and two pubs. The shop is open every day until 8pm and it has most things but if you want fresh meat you would have to go to Inverbervie. The shop also gives cashback which is useful as there is no cash machine in the village. It has a garden which was lovely when the sun shined. It was big enough to accommodate 6 people with a sofa bed in the living room. One of the rooms has bunk beds. The cottage was clean, modern and and well maintained. The only thing missing was a corkscrew. The cottage is ideally located for the coastal walk to Inverbervie. Stop off at the Harbour Bar in Gourdon which was friendly.

The Anchor Pub was really good for food but you do have to book a table as it gets very busy. The Ship Pub was very friendly so I would recommend you call in there for a drink.

One little problem was we were supposed to be met on arrival but due to unforeseen circumstances we were not met but the key was left for us. We had a slight hitch as we could not get the heating to work in the living room when we arrived so we had to look for coal and kindling which we found in the garden. It would have been useful to have some information on how the heating works as none of the party had ever built a fire from scratch. The heating amazingly was working the following morning.

Overall, it was a lovely, wee cottage in a beautiful, friendly village. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Owner's Response: Hello, thanks very much for your precise review. Claire should have welcomed you, I'll check with her what happened. The heater downstairs is a storage heater , I'll write a notice about how it works and buy a corkscrew. Regards
