4 luxurious bedrooms in newly renovated home, 3 minute walk from the tube/buses

Music-minded mother of one, also working in media/music. My charismatic little daughter and I live half in my house in London and half in a little cottage in Oxfordshire… I'm half-Amercan. I can't live with out without my Apple Mac computers, a swimming pool nearby, London's cultural offerings... and of course my daughter. Not necessarily in that order! I'm house proud and keep things rather clean and tidy, but I would hope that's a good thing!
Arabella purchased this House in 2007
Why Arabella chose London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham
I love West London! Shepherd's Bush is just a bit further west than Notting Hill and Holland Park, so natives would argue it's just that bit cooler and more cosmopolitan... Fun fact: the area is called Shepherd's Bush because it was (in the 19th and early 20th century) a pasture for shepherds on their way to sell their sheep at the still famous Smithfield market in East London. The house itself has just been refurbished - new kitchen, underfloor heating, well-equipped and quiet, in a family neighbourhood, but only a few minutes from the bustle of Uxbridge Road which is a bit like NYC's 42nd Street! The house is also less than 5 minutes to the tube which takes you into the centre of town in 10 minutes. It's also less than 5 minutes to to Westfield (Europe's largest shopping mall, for the initiated - for those who are less shopping-oriented, it's still fantastically convenient for restaurants, groceries (the wonderful Waitrose), the Apple Store, John Lewis...) the BBC, grocery stores, every kind of restaurant you could imagine, parks... If you book I have a welcome back that lists all the best local restaurants, where to swim, do yoga, take your kids to run around...
What makes this House unique
I love that you can open the back doors to the patio and have the whole space open. It's also a really cosy house, with a large open plan living/eating area so it's a sociable place to be with your family and friends. I take great pride in providing hotel-style deliciously comfortable beds with crisp white linen and fluffy white towels, combined with a homely feel. It's so central and easy to get into central London via the tube which is a 3 minute walk away via the shortcut... And Westfield is so handy. It has an Apple Store, a John Lewis, a Waitrose, a Boots and a Zara. And hundreds of other stores. That's me covered :)

This was our first time booking a stay that wasn’t through an agent or hotel. Well I couldn’t recommend it more, Bella was host extraordinaire and assisted us above and beyond making our stay and journey so much easier. We really felt at home, her space is wonderful and tranquil and a great place to recoup after hectic London activities. It is also the best position to travel from for underground, overground and buses and having Westfield on your doorstep was an added bonus for some downtime and shopping. (We went almost daily) We will absolutely be back to stay again. 5 star and more!!
This property was very nice! The description on the website was accurate and we enjoyed staying here. The owner was very accessible and was very eager to help us any way she could. The location of the property was very convenient for access to the tube and a huge shopping mall. Groceries, pharmacies, local eateries and pubs were all within a short walking distance. We will definitely consider this property again if we plan to travel to London.
Bella was a great hostess who made the effort to ensure we got oriented with not only the house but the neighbourhood and the greater London area. Great shopping nearby for everything you could ever want and close to the tube for easy access to wherever you want to go. The home was modern, clean and inviting and we would highly recommend.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It was lovely to meet you all and thank you for being such great guests. I hope to see you again!
Amazing host and house , Perfect position for a stay in London
Bella is an amazing host. Everything was set up to a tee and the house was a perfect size for our family of five including 3 teenagers. Close to the underground for easy 10 minute access to the centre of London. Near Westfield for all your other needs including groceries etc . I would highly recommend staying at Bella’s house and hopefully sometime in the future I will have a chance to visit again .
Thank you, Jodie, for your very kind review - I'm so glad you enjoyed the house - and London! You know I would welcome you all back anytime!
High-quality house in a great location with a brilliant host
We booked Arabella’s house so that seven of us could attend a friend’s wedding in Holland Park. From the outset Bella was really swift to respond and great at communicating. I had some problems when I tried to make the payment due to an issue at my end, but Bella was very patient and accommodating while this was sorted out.
The instructions about how to get to the house and collect the keys, and the information about the house and the local area were all really clear and well-produced. Arriving and collecting keys went exactly as planned and was very convenient.
Bella’s home is a fantastic place to stay. It’s a high-quality property, was spotlessly clean and well-presented, and very well-equipped. It was very comfortable and welcoming, and the street is quiet and pleasant, despite being so close to the high street. When we arrived we parked at Westfield shopping centre, which is only a few minutes walk away. We attended a ceremony in Holland Park and a reception in Sheperd’s Bush, so could not have asked for a better location. For it to be such a lovely house as well was just perfect.
Bella left some items for us so that we didn’t have to go to the shops as soon as we arrived, which was really kind. She got in touch to make sure we had arrived ok and let us know that we could contact her with any problems. In short she was an excellent host and I highly recommend staying at this property.
Thanks you Bella for welcoming us into your home and enabling us to have a perfect weekend with friends. Best wishes,
Richard, Claire, Anthony, Josh, Louisa, Natalie and Tom.
Thank you so much for your very kind review, Richard - I'm so glad you had a great stay! You were lovely guests - and you are of course welcome back any time! Bella
A fabulous house. Warm friendly and very comfortable. Very clean and in a great location.
The house was everything and more. Wonderful host, Bella couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. The house is close to public transport, and Westfield Mall, which has both high end and high street shops. Easy to get into central London by either tube or bus.
The beds were all extremely comfortable, and the living area great. A good kitchen and it was lovely to have a big kitchen table. A lovely outdoor area, with large doors that open out to it. The house had good security and we felt very safe. A quiet street, and just a short walk to tubes/ mall/ supermarkets etc. We spent a great month in the house and would have happily stayed longer. I have absolutely no negative comments to make. A real gem.
I'm so happy you had a great trip, Jackie! And thank you so much for your very kind review. Do come back to London anytime and stay. :)
My house is in central London (west) and incredibly well connected, so you have London as your oyster. It's just adjacent to Holland Park Notting Hill. You can walk 3 minutes and catch the underground (tube) to anywhere in London...or you can take a train, bus, car and head out to Windsor Castle, Harry Potter Tours, the Cotswolds, Bath, anywhere!
Shepherd's Bush is always bustling. My house is in a very quiet street which is a contrast to what's going on all around. Shey-Boo, as some people call, is a great place to get a taste of local living away from the tourist trail, but you can very quickly zip into central London – 10 minutes on the super speedy central line – whenever you want to. A walk down the Uxbridge Road will give you a sense of the area's multicultural make-up, with food stores and restaurants from all over the world. Pop megastar Rihanna uses modest Caribbean takeaway, Ochi, in Uxbridge Road for her favourite chicken curry and rice whenever she is on tour in the UK.
If you want something more luxurious, then you're in luck: the area is home to Europe's largest shopping mall, Westfield, which in 2018 has doubled its size as part of an £8 billion regeneration project of the old BBC HQ car park and offices. Westfield has a John Lewis department store (hooray), a Waitrose Grocery store, an Apple Store, a cinema, all the main fashion stores, from designers to Zara and Gap. Basically you do not nee to go anywhere else as it's all there!
BBC Television Centre, the former HQ of the BBC is no longer… it was reincarnated in April 2018 with brand new restaurants including Chelsea's wonderful Bluebird Cafe and White City House, which has a public restaurant, cocktail bar, Soho-house owned hotel and (soon to open) Electric cinema. This is all part of the Soho House private members’ club group. The new White City Place development plays host to lots more cool restaurants.
There is also a buzzing local music scene, with the Bush Hall and the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. We also have a fantastic, newly refurbed local theatre that pioneers new writing, The Bush Theatre. A great place to hang out in the day.
A bunch of media companies call W12 their home – Endemol Shine, Tiger Aspect, Loftus Productions, and of course the BBC. The London College of Fashion is also here, in Lime Grove.
**A bit of history of the area**
At the heart of Shepherd's Bush is the Green, a triangle of common land, where drovers used to rest and graze sheep on the way to the market at Smithfield. This is how the place got its name.
**Who are our neighbours in W12?**
Shepherd’s Bush is considered a very ‘normal’ or 'real' and diverse part of London. It's safe to walk home alone at night and even though it's on the edge of Notting Hill it's not full of bankers in BMWs. There are a certain amount of loft extensions and front doors being repainted in Farrow & Ball colours, but it is still socially and ethnically mixed up enough to tick all the boxes.
The area has had its fair share of celebrities. Oliver Cromwell was almost assassinated there in 1657. Charles Dickens helped found a home for reforming prostitutes in Lime Grove. Gustav Holst lived in Shepherd's Bush in a two-room flat above a shop in the 1890s. John F Kennedy attended an athletics meeting in White City Stadium in 1939.
More recently, actor Dominic West (The Wire), Tom Parker Bowles (son of Price Charles's wife Camilla), Jarvis Cocker (singer from the band Pulp) and a lot of BBC presenters live in W12.
And of course Shepherd's Bush is still home to some of the BBC, Queen's Park Rangers football team (and stadium) and a host of wonderful gastro pubs like the Havelock (favourite of Cary Mulligan) and the Princess Victoria.
The area a has a strong musical history: a recent survey for a guitar magazine showed that Shepherd’s Bush is the most rock’n’roll place in the UK, scoring one rock star for every 1,222 residents. The Who are widely hailed as a Shepherd’s Bush band — Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and John Entwistle grew up nearby. The Clash’s Joe Strummer met Mick Jones and Paul Simonon in a Shepherd’s Bush squat. Babyshambles' Pete Doherty lived here for a time… It's home to a large number of music producers and composers and recording studios Olympic.
We even have our own music festival, Bush Stock, spread across a number of venues and churches in W12, every June.
Just across the roundabout from the underground station is the district known as Holland Park.
Holland Park is my local, beautiful, royal park. It's also a very wealthy residential area that's home to the likes of David and Victorial Beckham, simon Cowel, Gary Barlow, Elton John, Robbie Williams, Jimmy Page, Paul Allen (Microsoft), a few embassies… you get the idea…
It also has a parade of shops which you'll walk past if you head to the park. Daunt Books, a wonderful independent book shop, Lidgates the butchers, Paul's patisserie, Gelato Mio (Italian ice-cream).
