About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms (Sleeps 7)

>Beautiful Victorian house, newly refurbished in March 2018, on quiet street, 3 minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of Shepherd's Bush, (west) central London. It's incredibly well connected for London sight-seeing, being just a 10 minute tube (=subway/underground) ride to the sights. You can also walk around the corner to Westfield, London's newest and classiest shopping mall. Very near Holland Pk, Notting Hill and Olympia, the new White City development, the BBC...

>I've just started hosting here, so do not have many reviews - I'm a five-star rated host on another (holiday let) platform.

>My prices automatically calculate a discount of 15% for over 7 days and 25% for over one month. Feel free to ask me for further discount for stays longer than one month.

>Summary of my house:

Four bedrooms.

Comprising three double bedrooms with big, luxurious beds. A fourth very small sweet bedroom with a very comfortable single divan bed. I will provide you with crisp white cotton linen and towels provided and cooking essentials.

Suitable for professionals, friend and also famililes. Garden (patio).

Child friendly: high chair, baby video monitor and cot available.

My little daughter and I split our time between my lovely home that you are seeing here and a place in Oxfordshire.

>The space:

My house has two floors (levels). With carpeted stairs. And a stair gate at the top. No one else lives above or below you...

Downstairs:

- Small entrance hall.

- Spacious main open-plan living/kitchen area with large oak table and 8 chairs, two big sofas the other end for sitting and chatting, glass coffee table, TV with cable, stereo... Glass doors leading out to the patio. Underfloor heating.

Very well equipped kitchen for cooks. Dishwasher, electric oven with grill and an electric halogen (induction) hob, microwave, Caffitiere coffee maker, blender, electric rice cooker, toaster. Also a washing machine with tumble dryer. And the magic Quooker kitchen tap which dispenses boiling water, filtered water or normal hot/cold.

Large patio garden with 6 chairs and 2 little tables.

Bedroom 4 - with lovely brand new king size bed, wardrobe, underfloor heating...

- Downstairs WC and shower room

Upstairs:

- Bedroom 1 has a King bed (Americans call this a Queen - it's 5' 5" wide), a tall wardrobe with hangers, antique table and chair for writing, chest of drawers for clothes, mirror, suitcase stands etc.

The bed has a pocket sprung orthapedic mattress topper which makes it even more comfortable. It's medium-firm.

All beds are made up with cotton sheets and four pillows (two are down, two are hyper-allergenic so you can choose).

- Bedroom 2 has a luxurious super king (6 ft wide) divan bed with pocket sprung mattress and mattress topper.

- Bedroom 3 is a tiny, sweet room with just one single bed, a little chest and a lamp... and not room for much else! Good for either a child or an adult as it is a very comfortable (brand new ) 3 ft wide divan bed, made for an adult. It's quite a high divan bed. I can provide a side bar for children so they don't fall out!

- Bathroom with bath and shower (shower is inside the bath rather than a separate walk in shower). Bath has an overhead rose shower and also a second shower head that you can use while sitting in the bath (I like this!). Basin, WC. Heated towel rail.

> Guest access

Everything!

The whole house and patio/terraced garden...

>Interaction with your host (me)

You have the place yourselves! But I will be contactable throughout your stay by phone, text, whatsapp, FaceTime or email- whatever your preferred mode of your communication!. If you have a foreign phone, you can can call me from the house phone to save your phone costs!

When you book, I will send you information about everything from where to buy food, swim, run, do yoga, eat out (best London vegan and gluten free restaurants included!) and some kids' activities. Also the house manual (how to use the oven etc).

If you come at a time when I am on away then I hand over the meet and greet to a my neighbour who will be waiting for you on your arrival, will give you a house tour and answer your questions. I will also telephone you once you are there to make sure you are happy and answer any questions - and be a telephone call away during your stay.

>The neighbourhood

Very central - just next door to Holland Park/Notting Hill but a bit more cosmopolitan, especially along the Uxbridge Road where you can eat yourself round the world every night.

The four streets in this Caxton triangle (as they call it) are very quiet, a little Oasis of calm in the midst of bustling West London. Everyone who comes comments on how quiet the street is, given how much goes on round the corner!

A few minutes walk and the area is buzzing with bars and restaurants, cinemas, Westfield...

Culture: Opera in Holland Park, other music venues such as Bush Hall and the Shepherd's Bush Empire. A lovely new local theatre, The Bush Theatre, if you prefer off-Broadway/fringe…

Nice river walks… not far to walk to the lovely Holland Park and Hyde Park which are glorious especially in summer.

Amazing restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Uxbridge road is very cosmopolitan and lots of food from around the world.

Westfield shopping centre is right next door. BBC is a 5 minute walk. Olympia a 10 minute walk.

Very well connected via tubes and buses to central London and you can taxi/uber for £10.

Vibrant community with local theatre, parks, yoga/pilates place, wine bar, coffee shops, cinemas...

>Getting around

Very central. 3 minute walk to tube, buses and overground train.

>Parking:

Most people won't have cars but if you do, and if you want to park right outside the house, you can. As with most London streets, it's pay and display - for £2.80 an hour.

For longer term parking, you can park in the Westfield shopping centre for £8 for an entire 24 hours - the cheapest place in central London! - and leave it over night for no extra charge - my friends all park there if they are coming to town! You can leave your car there overnight or multiple nights safely. It's a safe 5 minute walk back to the house, via Waitrose if you need some groceries! :)

>House rules

I'd be most grateful if you would observe these rules:

1. No smoking.

2. No shoes in the house.

3. No pets.

4. Use coasters on the antique oak kitchen table or use the vinyl tablecloth if that's easier!

5. No hot pans, chopping or lemon directly on the granite kitchen surface please to avoid damage.

6. Enjoy the space!

Thank you!

About Arabella

Music-minded mother of one, also working in media/music. My charismatic little daughter and I live half in my house in London and half in a little cottage in Oxfordshire… I'm half-Amercan. I can't live with out without my Apple Mac computers, a swimming pool nearby, London's cultural offerings... and of course my daughter. Not necessarily in that order! I'm house proud and keep things rather clean and tidy, but I would hope that's a good thing!

Arabella purchased this house in 2008

Why Arabella chose Shepherd's Bush

I love West London! Shepherd's Bush is just a bit further west than Notting Hill and Holland Park, so natives would argue it's just that bit cooler and more cosmopolitan...

Fun fact: the area is called Shepherd's Bush because it was (in the 19th and early 20th century) a pasture for shepherds on their way to sell their sheep at the still famous Smithfield market in East London.

The house itself has just been refurbished - new kitchen, underfloor heating, well-equipped and quiet, in a family neighbourhood, but only a few minutes from the bustle of Uxbridge Road which is a bit like NYC's 42nd Street!

The ho use is also less than 5 minutes to the tube which takes you into the centre of town in 10 minutes. It's also less than 5 minutes to to Westfield, the BBC, grocery stores, every kind of restaurant you could imagine, parks...

If you book I have a welcome back that lists all the best local restaurants, where to swim, do yoga, take your kids to run around...

What makes this house unique

I love that you can open the back doors to the patio and have the whole space open. It's also a really cosy house, with a large open plan living/eating area so it's a sociable place to be with your family and friends. I take great pride in providing hotel-style deliciously comfortable beds with crisp white linen and fluffy white towels, combined with a homely feel.

This house is WONDERFUL!!!

  • 5 of 5

This house is newly updated and was very clean. It's absolutely beautiful!

We took a taxi form Heathrow to the house as the cost for the train was more expensive. The house is situated right around the corner form the Shepards Bush Underground and the Westfield Mall. We never had an issue with noise even though we were so close to everything.

With Shepards Bush being a little further out form London we decided to use the Oyster Card instead of the Travel Card which was the most economical. The Underground is by far the fasted was to travel and very easy to navigate once you get your bearings.

The owner, Bella, was so helpful and went out of her way several times to make sure we had everything that we need and just to see how we were enjoying London.

When we return again we would absolutely stay at this house again.

Spoilt for choice!

My house is in central London (west) and incredibly well connected, so you have London as your oyster. You can also take a train, bus, car and head out to Windsor Castle, Harry Potter Tours, the Cotswolds, Bath, anywhere!
