A perfect place to relax

  • 5 of 5

Just spent a lovely weekend at this great property. Even though it was September the pool was still warm and the fantastic outside space made this a perfect getaway. The house was immaculate, clean and fresh, and most importantly the beds were really comfy! There are plenty of good local supermarkets/boulangeries, and the kitchen is a cook's paradise, if that's your thing. St Paul is a gem, as are all the fortified towns and villages in the area, and yet 20 minutes by car will get you to Antibes, Nice, Villefranche etc. Will definitely return, but for longer next time.

Perfect place to unwind and explore

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at the domaine de la bergerie. We stayed at villa A2 last year (which was lovely and 5 stars) and this year went for villa A1 just because there is a little more outside space. We certainly made use of the extra outside space as we spent a lot of our days relaxing on the loungers with our 2 teenage children.

The house is well maintained and was beautifully clean and very comfortable. There is a great supermarket nearby (Leclerc) and St Paul de Vence is a short (but steep!) walk away with some great restaurants and superb views.

The villa is very well located as it is close to Nice airport and train station and easy to find. It is a great base from which to explore the Riviera - Cannes and Monaco are within easy reach for example.

Sandrine is an excellent agent and is always available should you have any questions.

All in all a great place to stay for a fantastic holiday. We would highly recommend this villa and hope to come back very soon.

A holiday at this villa is a must!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing holiday at this villa. We were travelling with an 11 month old and the villa was perfect for us. It is beautifully furnished both inside and out and had everything we needed. It is perfectly located, approx 20 minutes drive from Nice airport and within 30-60 mins from all the main resorts in the Coast for day trips. During our stay we visited Cannes, St Raphael, Antibes, Juan les Pins, Saint Jean Cap de Ferrat, St Paul and Nice. The villa terrace which was very nicely furnished gets the sun from early afternoon right into the evening and all our evenings were spent there enjoying the views and some of the local wines and cheeses. The local village of St Paul is beautiful and has some amazing views down to the coast. All in all it was an amazing holiday and the villa is highly recommended!!

Owner's Response: So pleased you had such a good holiday. Our favourite wines are from the Saint Victoire region which isn't too far away by car and makes a great wine-tasting day out!

Our Bergerie favourite !

  • 5 of 5

It was not our first stay, but it was the first at A1. The other houses we rented in the Domaine are great, but this one tops it with the large outdoor space, the pool view and excellent amenities.

The hidden gem of the house is the manager, Sandrine, for her warm welcome, a nice glass of rosé and fresh hand picked flowers on the table !

All is clean and well maintained.

The area has a lot to offer, St Paul is a 15' (brisk and steep) walk away, Lafayette Gourmet 10' drive, and if you're not into driving around you can explore by train (from Cagnes sur Mer rrs).

My husband and I love this place, we'll certainly be back soon !

excellent property

We spent a wonderful week at this house in July. Everything was perfect - the location, the house, the state-of-the-art equipment, the terrace and the pool.

We'll definitely come back!!

Due to the close proximity of the small, shared pool (shared with 16 other properties!!), this Villa has very limited privacy and little scope for al-fresco dining, if you wish to do so without being looked at. Pool rules are confusing and not adhered to, due to differing needs between the permanent residents in the complex and those staying in holiday lets. The notes inside our Villa stated that only quiet swimming is allowed after 8pm, but certain other Villas did not adhere to this and had no limit.

Although we love the St Paul area and have visited MANY times, we would not return to this particular Villa, as we value our privacy and the freedom to eat outside our Villa without noise and prying eyes. Also, the pool is far too small to cater for the number of residents that wish to use it in this complex.

We were also disappointed that there was no 'Welcome Pack' on arrival (as we have always had in other Villas), not because we needed the supplies, but for the very reason for which it should be intended - to make you feel welcome!!

The garden also felt a little 'unloved', with overgrowing lavender bushes and plants. Plus flashing lights in the bedroom air conditioning units were very annoying.

On a positive note, area is quiet at night when dark, and clean on arrival.

Owner's Response: That is such a shame. It's difficult to please a wide variety of guests which is why we try to include as much information and photos on the listing as possible. What is disappointing for one family can be ideal for another, such as being able to watch the children playing in the pool from the comfort of the terrace, or enjoying the scent of lavender in 'comfy corner' with a glass of rosé or two! A welcome pack is a good idea and one which we hadn't thought of, so will definitely review this for 2015.

15 min driving distance to Nice airport, St Paul is a beautiful fortified medieval village situated on a hilltop with stunning views and home to the famous Colombe d'Or restaurant which displays original art work by Chagall, Matisse, Picasso and many others.

The area is popular with artists attracted by the extraordinary light quality and the renowned Fondation Maeght art museum is 30 min walking distance (5 minutes driving distance).

It is an excellent base from which to explore Antibes 30 min, Cannes 40 min, Monaco 45 min, St Tropez 90 min and the pitoresques villages Vence, Tourrettes sur Loup, Valbonne et Mougins.

Beaches are a short drive away, and in winter skiing starts at only 1 hour away (Isola 2000 and Auron).
