Fabulous location!

  • 4 of 5

We were a little nervous as no one was there to meet us, but we had used Alice's driver so he was able to contact her and her sister Chiara came very quickly to let us in. It was raining and the one thing I was hoping the apartment had was an umbrella; but no. Chiara said we could buy one at the corner store, but she would check if they had one and she would drop it off if they did, but I never heard from her or Alice again. Which was fine, as we had no problems with anything in the apartment! The driving service Alice uses was excellent. We gave the driver our schedule of when we needed him and used them to get to another apartment we rented further north in Rome and also back to the airport; the drivers arrived on time and were very courteous. Final thing about communication with this rental: although Alice always responded quickly, it was a cool communication and always very brief, with some of my minor questions never answered, which is what led to my initial uneasiness. Very different from the dozens of other HomeAway or VRBO rentals I've used over the years. However, as said, all worked out perfectly in the end and I would definitely stay here again because of the location.

About the location ... it is perfect for exploring, especially the southern part of Rome. You walk out your door and in about 5 minutes you're on the top of the Campidoglio looking down at the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill ... no one there at night and it is floodlit. The churches in the Celian Hill area are fabulous, it's just a very short walk over the bridge to Trastevere, 5 minutes to Colosseum & Forums, about 20 minutes to the top of the Aventive Hill (Gregorian chants every night at 7:15 in Sant Anselmo church), keyhole of the world and 5 minutes to Boca de Verita area, Jewish Quarter less than 10 mins. Close to Maximus or Colosseum metros and train to Ostia Antica; small lovely grocery store literally 2 doors down (tell Lorenzo and mama Lena hello from Francesca from Florida!).

Apartment itself is totally functional, quiet, clean and extremely well stocked with toilet paper, tea, coffee, oil, etc. Large (I think king) comfortable bed, safe. Good shower/bathroom space, blow dryer, wifi; great working space in kitchen; ample storage space. Everything we needed. Steps thruout are a bit dangerous and a coffee table and extra lamp would be nice, but really adequate as is; great selection of books, some in English. Interesting part of Rome to stay. Highly recommend.

Great location, nice apartment

  • 4 of 5

The location of this flat is perfect for touring Rome by foot, an easy walk to all the major sites. Alice and her daughter were very accommodating as to when we could arrive and depart. The apartment was very comfortable for our family of 3, and my only criticism is that the bathroom needs some updating, as there was some mold in the showers, and the towels were very rough. Even so, it was a great stay overall.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The location is perfect, near the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Capitol Hill, Mouth of Truth etc. It also has a nice resteraunt right across the way and a little grocery store right next door. I was very happy to be so near the archeological sites.

Great Location!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Alice's apartment for 4 days with our 11-moth old child. Throughout the process, Alice was very responsive and helpful. The apartment was exactly as advertised. The proximity is the most important feature and it is literally a 5 minute walk to the ruins and the Colosseum. For the price - staying at this apartment is a good deal. We ate at "In Rome" across the street and found the food to be very good and the prices were fair. Travestere is just a short walk from the apartment as well.

A few disclaimers. When arriving at the apartment, be sure to communicate a clear time to meet. I thought we left it as a "window" not realizing that there was a gentleman and his daughter waiting for us. Also - we visited in the scorching heat in late August/early September and the apartment got very hot. We found that we could not run the AC is the bedroom and the main area, with the washer, or the power would surge and would cause a blackout. Again, this was mainly because it was very hot when we visited. Also - there is no crib (cot) (we thought there would be) in the apartment so we had difficulty with how our child would sleep. She ended up sleeping on the floor in the bedroom.

All in all, it was a great visit and if you're looking for a great location for a good price, this will do just fine.

Owner's Response: I apologize greatly for the inconvenience. In fact those were monstrously hot days but I did not know that there were problems with the air conditioning, otherwise I would have sent someone. I'm sorry. And I regret even more to the bed because there was in the apartment. In the closet. You would have to ask Marcelo to pull it out and install it. I was away from Rome at the time and so I followed the arrival from afar. I regret not being more attentive to you and your stay. I hope that you will return to Rome if you give me another chance. All the best, Alice

Great Location and Customer Service

  • 5 of 5

This apartment is exactly what is advertised. Pictures are accurate, location is perfect and Alice and his family definitely understand what customer service means.

Alice arranged pick up and drop off at the airport for us adding value to our decision (By the way also the transportation service was great).

Lorenzo (Alice’s son) welcome us a the apartment and explain how everything work, then show us the best way to move around the city and even suggested best place to visit.

We did not cook in the apartment but they have everything that you may need for a simple but tasty meal.

The street the apartment is in beautiful, quiet street, 20 meters away you find a small delicatessen store, with “Buon Vino, Salumi y Formaggi “ (good wine, Salamis and cheeses) among others.

We tried the restaurant juts across the street when tired and it was raining and have a wonderful meal, no cheap thought but also good customer service. The waiters and host (that speak very good English) help us to schedule a taxi pick up for next day while we enjoying our meal.

The tabacchi store next to the restaurant has wine, juices and snacks for good prices too.

My family and I were very pleased to choose this apartment, we definitely going back next time we visit Roma.

Alice, Lorenzo, thank you for everything.

Great Apartment! Well Located!

  • 5 of 5

The unit was well appointed, comfortable and surprisingly quiet. It's very close to the Forum, Circus Maximus, Palatine Hill and the Coliseum. Alice and her family were very accommodating including pick up and drop off at the airport. It was more than enough for the two of us and was so close we could come back mid afternoon to change and freshen up for the evening's activities. We whole heartedly recommend this apartment and will look for it again on the next trip.

The apartment is situated next to the Roman Forum and behind the Capitol, a three-minute walk from Circus Maximus, between the Colosseum and The Ghetto and two minutes from the Tiberina island and the Tiber River. Beyond the Tiber, Trastevere is.

Gives on a very small and quiet road that comes in a small square where there is a bar and a restaurant. On the road, next to the apartment, there is a small grocery shop very well stocked. From the square, with the stairs, you arrive in the square of Consolation with the homonymous church, just below the Capitol. Walking along the street in the other direction, toward the Circus Maximus, in just a few hundred meters, you get the Mouth of Truth. On the via S, Theodore durig the weekends there is a market of organic farming km. 0 (Campagna Amica)

The nearest metro station is Circus Maximus.
