2 Bedroom, Spacious 1st Floor Apartment With Seaviews, Very Close To The Beach

The apartment is light, airy and spacious, with an open plan living area, large balcony and 2 large bedrooms with built in wardrobes. The apartment is on one level only so is ideal for younger children.

• 2 spacious twin bedrooms (in 1 room the beds can be positioned together)

• 1 family bathroom with toilet, shower over bath, basin and bidet

• lounge offers comfortable sofa and arm chairs, wifi/tv/dvd/sat tv, ipod docking station, book library, dining table and chairs

• large balcony leading off lounge that offers a sea view. Outside table and chairs provided for outside dining.

• fully furnished kitchen with appliances such as a microwave and washing machine, crockery, saucepans etc.

There is also an iron/ironing board and hair dryer.

• all bed linen and bathroom/kitchen towels are provided. Please provide your own beach/pool towels.

• mid stay maid service included in rental for cleaning/linen change for stays of 14 days or more (additional maid service available for an additional fee for shorter stays)

• high chair and cot are also available on request (cot is for an additional fee)

There are small heaters and fans in each of the rooms and there is a log fire / wood burner in the lounge (small additional fee charged in winter for logs)

The property has a full rental licence and has been safety checked (gas/electric/fire) with first aid kit provided and carbon monoxide tester installed.

Wi-fi is available in the apartment and can also be organised to be available in the pool area for a small fee (through the office).

Sao Rafael is a peaceful, quiet and attractive area and is a popular choice for both families and couples. As well as boasting a number of beautiful beaches, coastal walks and fantastic restaurants there are also plenty of attractions in the area to keep children happy. Visitors to Sao Rafael regularly fall in love with the area and come back year after year. Sao Rafael is a 40 minute drive from faro airport, and is located a few kilometers from the town of Albufeira.

The apartment is located in the desirable Sao Rafael village, and is set in several acres of mature tropical gardens.This first floor apartment is set in attractive, well kept communal grounds and the complex boasts both a large adult swimming pool and a smaller children’s pool for the use of owner's guests. The apartment enjoys a sea view and it is only a 5 minute walk away from one of the area’s nicest beaches.

The 2 twin bedroom apartment comfortably sleeps 4 people. The self catering apartment comes fully furnished and a cot and high chair are also available on request.There are small balconies in both bedrooms (one with a sea view, one with a garden view) and a large balcony off the lounge that comes with an additional table and 4 chairs, so you can sit and enjoy the sea view.

There are a wide selection of restaurants, bars and shops in the area, as well as a number of other beautiful beaches for you to enjoy. The old town of Albufeira is a 5 minute drive away and the Albufeira marina is only a few minutes drive away. There is also a range of high quality golf courses in the area.

The apartment is set in attractive, mature gardens on an apartment complex. The apartment is located on the first floor and is accessible up a flight of stairs. (may not be suitable for someone with very restricted mobility)

There is a large balcony with a sea view off the lounge and 2 smaller balconies off each bedroom.

There is a large kidney shaped swimming pool (shallow at one end and a much deeper end suitable for diving) and a smaller, separate children's pool suitable for younger children.

There are plenty of sun loungers around the pools for the use of guests, sun shades and tables and chairs. There is plenty of shade available if wanted.

There is an office where you can get information on any aspect of your holiday and a communal games area with vending machine.

There is also plenty of free communal parking available within the grounds.

A welcome information pack is provided (hard copy in apartment and can also be provided by email prior to arrival) which gives directions and details of restaurants, supermarkets, tourist attractions etc..

About Alex Esland

I am based in Buckinghamshire in the UK and manage the apartment rentals for our family owned apartment. My parents purchased the property over 25 years ago and we have spent a number of memorable family holidays over the years at our apartment. There is a 'home away from home' feel to the property and we take pride in making it as comfortable and enjoyable for our guests as possible. We still use the apartment for our own family holidays throughout the year (with a number of teachers in the family we are lucky enough to get plenty of holiday time!) which means we are able to regularly maintain the property and buy new bits and pieces for it. This hopefully means our guests have everything there that they could possibly want during their stay.

Why Alex Esland chose Albufeira

I remember first visiting the apartment as a child when it was still a building site, and as a family we all climbed a ladder to the first floor (obviously little in the way of health and safety considerations in those days...!) to get an idea of the view the property would have. It was beautiful...the sun was shining, the sea looked so blue and you could see boats sailing past, and there was open space and countryside all around us. (Whilst it remains a lovely spot it was even more beautiful then given how untouched that little corner of the Algarve was at the time). Since then, we have gone back to Sao Rafael year after year, preferring it to so many other parts of the Algarve, as well as other parts of the world, and we are happy that we made a fantastic choice when we chose our little spot on the Algarve coast.

What makes this apartment unique

The apartment is right on the edge of the Sao Rafael complex which not only gives it great views of the sea from the lounge and front bedroom, and pretty views of countryside from the back bedroom, but it also feels private and benefits from being a lovely quiet spot. It is spacious, light and airy and is blessed with sunshine pouring through the windows throughout the day. You can enjoy watching the sunrise from the main balcony, whilst sat enjoying your breakfast (if you are an early bird!) and you will also enjoy some spectacular sunsets in the evening out of the back windows of the property.

As it is so close to the coast you will also benefit from the sea breezes which are great on a hot evening.

The apartment is set in mature tropical gardens with plenty of pretty flowers and plants to enjoy, providing you with various Mediterranean scents as you walk along the paths to the apartment and to the swimming pools. (The pools are a 2 minute stroll from the apartment).

The beach is only a short walk from the apartment and is widely known to be one of the best beaches in the area. It has in fact been voted the 4th best beach in Europe!

Wonderful home for family holiday

Fantastic spacious, clean and well looked after home. ( it really did feel like home and very hard to leave.) great big balcony, which we used as our dining room. Comfy beds and an abundance of extra bedding (hair dryer, iron, bucket and spade, Beach mats, etc) well equipped kitchen. Very spacious. Awesome location, a few minutes walk to 2 stunning beaches, a great beach restaurant (a Sardinia - pria do Arrifas)

Near enough to albufeira to benefit from supermarkets, but far enough away to avoid it. There is not a bad point about this place on my mind. Alex is amazing, very prompt communication and extremely accommodating. One week just wasn't enough. Thank you Alex

Really lovely and well located apartment

Well, where do I start! The apartment was spacious, nicely decorated and well maintained and you could see the sea from the rear property windows. It was less than two minutes walk to reach the complex reception/office where staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.

The swimming pools were less than three minutes walk from the apartment and have toilets and shower facilities available and also an indoor area with a vending machine for snacks, etc. The smaller pool came up to our knees, (just right for the toddler in our group) and the larger pool had graded depths, starting at approx 1metre down to 2 metres. Both pools were clean but be aware that they are not heated! The poolside area was always clean and there was plenty of sun loungers for everyone.

The nearest 'supermarket' was approx 15 minutes walk and provided the basics but was a bit expensive. I would recomend driving to Apolonia where there is a much bigger store which also stocked English food brands which was ideal for me with my two fussy children!

Sao Rafael beach was approx 5 to 10 minutes walk from the apartment and is truly amazing. Although it is very small, it is picturesque and has 1 restaurant where you can have a sit down meal or you can buy ice creams/drinks to take to the beach. There are toilet facilities and part of the beach is allocated for sun umbrellas if you need. The sand is lovely and soft, the sea has gentle waves and is ideal for swimming but be careful as when the tide goes out there are some big rocks just under the surface.

Gale (pronounced Gar-lay) beach is approx 15 minutes drive away and is also a lovely beach. It's a bit bigger than Sao Rafael and has a choice of two restaurants to purchase food, drinks etc. Toilets are also available. The sand here is also soft but the sea is a bit choppy, more suited to surfing than swimming.

We ate at a couple of local restaurants and were very happy with the food and service but mostly we catered for ourselves at the apartment which had everything we needed.

And finally, huge praise and thanks to the owner, who prior to our holiday, supplied us with very user friendly directions to drive from the airport to our apartment as well as to local beaches, restaurants and places of interest etc, we didn't get lost once! And when I became ill whilst on holiday she was easy to contact and very supportive with ideas on how I could extend my stay if it had been needed.

Lovely apartment in a small exclusive complex

The apartment is well maintained, very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need for a holiday - sheer luxury to sit on the balcony in the glorious sun, looking out to the sea and enjoying a refreshing drink! Sao Rafael has the advantage of being a small exclusive complex with lovely gardens. It has its own well maintained swimming pool and toddler pool, an ideal area for sun-bathing as well as having shaded areas and its only a 2 minute walk from the apartment to the pool area. The lovely beach is only a short walk away - it's a fantastic sandy beach, ideal for building sandcastles! There's also has a nice bar/restaurant there.

We had a great holiday with lovely weather - we can thoroughly recommend the apartment and its location and we will definitely be returning later this year!

Lovely, homely apartment. Great place to stay

Lovely apartment with all the necessary mod cons to make your holiday an enjoyable stay.

The apartment is furnished with a homely feel, allowing you to chill out from the moment you arrive. The apartment pool is very nice with plenty of shade to be able to get away from the heat on the very warm days, there is a childrens pool so the little ones can play safely.

The beach is within a few minutes walk, very clean and has a nice bar/restaurant on it. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance and a small supermarket also within easy reach.

A lovely apartment, in a very pretty location would definitely visit again.

The Algarve is a beautiful region of southern Portugal that boasts a spectacular coastline, beautiful beaches, mountains, traditional Algarvian market towns and plenty of attractions for both day-time and night-time entertainment. The Algarve is well known for both its beaches and golf courses as well as its vineyards and local wineries. It is an ideal destination for families and couples.

The Algarve is well known for its long hours of sunshine throughout the summer months, and high temperatures. Although temperatures can reach above 30 degrees during the summer, the cool ocean breeze means it doesn't often feel too hot. A day trip up to the mountains is also a good way to escape the heat.

Sao Rafael is a quiet, relaxing area with stunning beaches, a wide selection of restaurants and close to a number of local attractions such as:

Albufeira marina: the marina offers a number of bars and restaurants and is a nice place to sit and relax while watching the sun go down.

Slide and Splash: One of Europe’s biggest and best water parks. A great family day out offering water slides, rides, reptile and falconry shows and plenty more. www.slidesplash.com

Zoomarine: Popular theme park and aquarium offering dolphin, seal and sea lion shows, tropical birds and birds of prey and sharks. There are also swimming pools, water slides, rides and the opportunity to swim with dolphins. More information available at www.zoomarine.pt.

Boat ride around the coast: there are a number of companies offering boat trips around the beautiful Algarve coast ranging from a few hours to a full day.

Monchique: take a day trip in the mountains to the picturesque market town of Monchique.

Algrave Shopping: over 100 shops, cinema, bowling

Watersports available at local beaches

The quiet area of Sao Rafael is approximately 40 mins by road from Faro airport and is about 10 mins from the old town of Albufeira.

Taxis are readily available at Faro ariport or alternatively we can pre-book a taxi to meet you at Faro airport.

There are also plenty of car hire companies to chose from. We recommend www.zitauto.co.uk as they are conveniently located inside the terminal so avoids the usual bus transfers to collect and drop off the hire car.

There are a wide selection of airlines that fly into Faro airport - the cheapest are normally Easyjet or Monarch.
