Full of character, these bedrooms each have the original fireplaces. Both bedrooms have huge en suite bathrooms with Victorian style free standing baths for added luxury and separate showers and under floor heating. There is also an additional house bathroom upstairs, with a bath and overhead shower.

Downstairs, the house also has an utility room, with a washing machine, which is a great space for storing and hanging up outside clobber. There is also a separate WC.

All linen, fluffy towels, extra thick feather filled duvets and pillows are provided. Heating, electricity and logs are also included in the price.

High Clachan is equipped with WiFi, a flat screen television, Freeview Box, DVD player; Roberts radio, a selection of board games, books and classic films. It has its own private garden with a croquet lawn including garden furniture and a barbecue.

At the gardens of main house (1 mile from High Clachan) we have a lots for children to do - from a newly installed 60 metre zip wire, a 14 ft trampoline with safety net, a great wendy house with two floors and an amazing climbing frame, complete with swings, a back to back glider, look out house (with binoculars for spotting baddies), slide and climbing wall. There's also a campfire in the woods for toasting marshmallows.

Gorgeous property

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous property where we got together as a family. Lovely spaces where we could be all together or have our own space. Everything there you need on a holiday. A lovely welcome pack, on arrival. Set in a scenic area of the North Rhins. Would certainly consider returning ourselves, as well as recommending to others.

Top Notch!!!

  • 5 of 5

Whether you are a couple looking for a quiet week away, as we were, or having a family reunion, High Clachan farmhouse would be ideal – there is loads of space! All rooms are large! Entrance is into a large utility room with ample space for boots and coats. The kitchen is large, well equipped and open plan into a large dining area. There is also a large conservatory which could equally be used for meals (or putting the kids in while the adults eat together!!!). The lounge is comfortable with large sofas and a good TV, Freesat and a DVD player. We only had access to one bedroom but it was large and the en-suite was (have you guessed?) large with a comfortable bath and powerful shower.

To the front there is a garden table ideal for dining outdoors with a large, flat lawn which is, again, ideal for kids. There is parking for a number of cars.

We found the house clean and well equipped with maps, games, kitchen equipment, etc. and the walks and areas of interest on the Rhins of Galloway were wide-ranging. The wildlife is amazing and the castles, etc. fantastic.

Angus and Kate took excellent but non-intrusive care of us and the whole holiday was extremely relaxing and enjoyable. Highly Recommended!

My family and I had a three night stay at High Clachan and everyone found plenty to do in the local area. My old dog Sam has come home and thinks he is a pup again, wants to be out all the time.Lovely place to stay, bit of a long drivefrom Newcastle for a weekend but we would come back again.

Nice, spacious, tidy and well equipped farmhouse

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoed our stay in beautiful High Clachan Farmhouse and the area nearby in Dumfries and Galloway. The property is spacious and tidy and well equipped in the kitchen. Situated out in the country you watch wildlife and nature all around and relax in the quietness, free from city noice and stress. Stranraer, and Kirkcolm even more so on bikes, is a short distance to travel for shopping. The owners, Katie and Angus were really friendly and provided us with excellent service. We enjoed most of all being in and around the property, but also visiting nearby places and attractions like the Kilmorie stone, Tor of Craigoch, St. John castle and swimming pool in Stranraer, Portpatrick and the beach of Sandhead. We definitely recommend the property to others.

Ideal in so many ways!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was perfect in every way. The accommodation exceeded expectations, was clean, well maintained and thoughtfully furnished with all the facilities one hopes to find. As the rest of our extended family were staying in the two other properties at Corsewall, the farmhouse was large enough to accommodate everyone at suppertime, most often firing up the bbq and cooking up a storm. Everyone enjoyed a truly memorable week. A big thank you to all concerned.

Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Finding a property large enough to accommodate 5 adults and two children can be difficult. High Clachan fulfilled all our requirements, with wonderfully comfortable beds, 4 huge bathrooms and a great kitchen diner large enough to allow us to socialise while the food was being prepared. The sitting room was comfortable and the conservatory a brilliant space in which to play games (and dry the washing) It was such a peaceful place with views for miles.

Angus met us as we arrived to ensure that we had everything we needed and made us feel that the house was our home for the time we were there. The house certainly ticked all the boxes for us all.

Located on Corsewall Estate, close to the village of Kirkcolm, surrounded by open farm land, High Clachan is a charming farmhouse dating back to the 18th century.

The house is 3/4s of a mile down a quiet country lane from Port Beg - one of the Estate's three beaches on the sea loch of Loch Ryan. Port Beg is a pretty bay, pebbly down to the waterline and then sandy in the sea - ideal for paddling and swimming. There are lots of rock pools - so a bucket and a net is a must for the kids! There's a grassy area for picnics and barbies and the views out to sea, with Ailsa Craig in the foreground and Arran in the distance, are simply magical.

Lady Bay and Boat Bank are the two other beaches on Corsewall Estate that guests at High Clachan can explore. Both of these are wonderful if you like collecting shells or pebbles - oyster shells and mussels to cowries and scallop shells never fail to disappoint. Bird watching down on the shores of Loch Ryan or in the woods is second to none.

High Clachan has a huge lawn in front of the house - so it's a great place for children to play football or for a game of croquet - croquet set supplied!

There are lots of walks around the farmhouse to enjoy. Head down to the shore on Loch Ryan, or a walk through the fields at the back of the house will bring you to a network of walking and cycling tracks through the woods around the Estate. At certain times of the year, the tracks are full of colour - from snowdrops in February and daffodils in March to bluebells in April.

The Blue Peter pub in the village of Kirkcolm is 3/4s of a mile away. Under new ownership, the pub has good pub grub and also does great take away fish and chips - a 'must eat' while on holiday by the coast!

There are so many things to do and see in Dumfries & Galloway - mountain biking at one of the 7Stanes mountain biking centres; walking in the Galloway Forest Park; visiting the Cocoa Bean Chocolate Factory at Twynholm and the Cream O Galloway ice cream visitor centre near Gatehouse of Fleet or the Gem Rock Museum at Creetown. Culzean Castle and Country Park is just over an hour's drive up the scenic Ayrshire Coast - which is a great attraction to visit as there is so much to see and do.

If you're mad about golf, there are a number of excellent courses including Stranraer Golf Course, designed by James Braid, the Portpatrick Dunskey course at Portpatrick, the Wigtownshire Golf Course at Glenluce and Turnberry, which is under an hour's drive away. There are lots of pretty towns and villages to explore - from Portpatrick to Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright.

The Rhins of Galloway boasts many beautiful sandy beaches to take the children to - including Killantringan, Larbrax and Laird's Bay - very much like Cornwall but without all the crowds.

There are a number of pretty gardens to visit - from the Logan Botanical Gardens and Ardwell to Dunskey and Glenwhan to Castle Kennedy where you will see exotic plants in abundance and riots of colour.

The Mull of Galloway, with a working lighthouse, which you can visit and climb right to the top of the light tower, is a must see. It is Scotland's most southerly point and on clear days you can see England, Ireland and the Isle of Man.
