About the property

Perfect Hiking Or Skiing Base, Although You May Not Want To Leave The House!

Newly renovated, extremely comfortable and very tastefully decorated, chalet Luftschloss (castle of the winds) boasts uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains. The big, open plan living space with open fireplace and big windows creates a very pleasant atmosphere. The chalet is located on Terrassenweg, one of the sunniest areas of Grindelwald. It is only a few minutes' walk from the ski-school nursery slopes on Bodmi, and from there you can also ski down to the First cable car station. It is also conveniently close to a restaurant as well as a bus stop with connections in all directions. In winter the ski piste (First ski region) runs almost to the door of the property.

In summertime, the amount of hikes you can go on are countless, whether it's a short stroll combined with a cable car ride with the children, a more adventurous day hike or downright mountaineering. Grindelwald has something for everyone's taste.

Entering the chalet via the middle floor, you encounter the open plan living, dining and cooking area. There is a ample sofa space for everyone. The dining table seats 8 very easily and the modern kitchen is well equipped with a dish washer, ceramic hob and oven. For entertainment there is a flat screen TV, DVD player, satellite and WiFI; there are also games at your disposal. You will find a toilet and shower on this floor too. French doors open on to the terrace where you may dine 'al fresco' whilst enjoying the breathtaking views.

Up the open stairs, you will find 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with both a bath and a shower. There are 2 double bedrooms, one with a beautiful daybed and a queen sized bed, the other with twin beds. There is a cosy children's room with bunk beds.

Below the living room and on the garden level is another big bedroom with twin beds and on suite bathroom with bath. It has direct garden access. The laundry room is behind the bedroom.

The property managers will meet you on site on your arrival day or shortly after to personally introduce you to the apartment and the area. They the a wealth of information and insider tips for you. The managers are also on call should there be anything you need assistance with.

Included in the rates are a one time linen set up and free Wi-Fi. There is no extra cleaning cost.

This wonderful house is privately owned and has been very carefully and thoughtfully decorated. It is new on the rental market.

The accommodation was pleasant and the house was clean and integrated in all respects and the owner of the house reported many of the favorite suggestions for tourism in the area so I would highly recommend staying there again

Amazing

The chalet is perfect and the location is amazing. I would highly recommend it. However, it needs window mosquito net for all windows.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you had a nice time at our chalet Luftschloss. As you may have noticed no houses in Grindelwald have mosquito nets. At this altitude there are not enough insects to need them. You can just leave the windows open.

Stunning beauty and perfect location

The house is gorgeous, comfortable and well laid out, with stunning views from the deck. We loved walking into town for morning coffee and Grindewald is convenient to absolutely everything - hiking, biking, paragliding, mountain carting, zip lining or just beautiful sightseeing by train, tram or gondola. Perfect for my husband and me, as well as our teenage children. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful Home in Grindelwald

This is really a home and not just a rental. It's large, beautiful, and has an Amazing view! We sat on the front porch every evening watching the sunset change the mountain colors. The mountains are actually closer than they appear in some of the photos. The home is very comfortable, great beds, large living/dining area, kitchen very well equipped. We had 8 people and were very comfortable. The children loved playing with the blocks and outside in the small yard area. There are llamas just up the hill behind the house. We had cars and drove down into the "downtown" easily, parking in the lot by the Tourist information and Coop grocery. Lots of beautiful hiking from the lifts. We had the regional Jungfrau passes and put them to good use, I would recommend them. The manager was very helpful and there is a very complete guidebook in the house for hiking, dining and excursions in the area. This is a lovely home, we would absolutely rent it again!

Nice chalet raised above Grindelwald. Very quiet and peaceful with great views across to the Eiger.

The chalet is well appointed and the managers were very helpful in every way.

Great home in a beautiful location

Home was very well maintained and matched the description. Great view from the balcony. Great customer service from manager. We were given ideas of things to do, places to hike and which mountain passes we should consider purchasing. Very helpful. Gindelwald is about a 20 minute walk from the home so will need to drive to get groceries if needed. Impossible to park in town. Close enough to walk for dinner, etc. We would recommend this to friends and relatives!

Grindelwald is set in the alpine heartland of Switzerland known as the Bernese Oberland. Dominated by the world famous Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains it boasts the country's highest density of dramatic scenery. The village is the stating point for hundreds of walking trails, mountain biking trails, paragliding, rafting and much more in the summer months and for its skiing and snowboarding during the winter months when it becomes a lively winter ski resort. Set beneath the towering peak of the Eiger you couldn't be in a more beautiful setting. Its nicknamed 'glacier village' for its proximity to two large seas of ice which are well worth a hike to during the summer months. The main street is packed with little restaurants, cafes and bars , all with terraces for you to take in the views. There is train station in town making it easily accessible from any part of Switzerland.

Prices quoted are in Swiss Franks. Swiss francs preferred. Rates include heating, electricity, covered parking, boot and ski storage. Tourist taxes are charged separately.
There is a safety deposit of CHF1000 required on payment of balance. This is returnable within 2 weeks of departure subject to the apartment being left in good condition.
There is a local tourism tax of Chf4.20 per adult per night/Chf3.20 per 12-16 year old per night.
This is not included in the rental rate, but is paid on arrival in cash.
