Beautiful, comfortable surroundings perfect for exploring Mainland

  • 5 of 5

A perfect place from which to explore Orkney. Centrally located between the two main towns, minutes away from most of the important Neolithic sights. A good butcher and supermarket within a five minute drive. And that is just its logistical advantages .

The house itself has plenty of room, excellent amenities, beautiful art work on every wall, full of light and peace.

Andrew is a wonderful host providing guests wth farm fresh eggs, and Orkney salmon , smoked to his own specifications and even showing up with fresh plaice for dinner. His lovely pottery lines the kitchen shelves providing for memorable meals. He is a font of knowledge about Orkney and a delight to speak to on any subject.

Owner's Response: It is always a great pleasure to welcome such appreciative folk. Sometimes we e see tired and weary faces on arrival. How relaxed and content they become through their stay. Orkney does that. Andrew and Sigrid.

Quirky but very comfortable and good value for money

  • 5 of 5

We found the property extremely well positioned for all the sites. Andrew was a perfect "host" and his property certainly carries his stamp on it. Very comfortable and the smoked salmon and freshly laid eggs in the fridge from the on-site chickens on our arrival were thoroughly enjoyed.

We would recommend the Smithfield Hotel in Dounby, a 5 minute car ride away. Food fabulous, especially the haddock and chips.

Brilliant place to stay - highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

My daughters, their friends and I stayed in Andrew and Sigrid's lovely house for a week. It's a great position, ideal for anywhere on Orkney and ferries to the islands, and was really comfortable and spacious for five adults. We shall definitely be back in Orkney, which is such a magical place to visit that, even on my 3rd visit, there are so many interesting things left to do, and I shall certainly want to return to Fursbreck Pottery House another time. Andrew and Sigrid were very welcoming and keen to help. And even the weather and the light in Orkney is magical, with lovely long evenings in August...

Lovely spacious cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our 4 children for a week, plenty of space and great facilities. A warm welcome from our hosts with smoked salmon and eggs in the fridge was a wonderful way to start our holiday. Orkney has so much to see that we didn't manage it all in a week and will definitely be back!

Beautiful beaches at Birsay and Skaill and stunning cliffs at Marwick and Yesnaby. Stromness and Kirkwall an easy drive or bus ride away.

It is easy to visti other Islands for day trips. Rousay, Shapinsay, Hoy, Flotta, Graemsay. Tour the South Isles to The Italian Chapel, Tomb of The Otters and Tomb of Th Eagles over The Churchill Barriers.

There are excellent Museums, Kirkwall, Stromness, Burray.

You will find Orkney completely full of surprises, yet a place of utter peace. You will always want to return. I vist to orkney is not time out of your lives... It will be the time of your life!
