Lovely stay in Yosemite!
We just loved this house! The location is great--it is away from the traffic of Yosemite Valley, but as close as you can get without actually staying in the Valley. We also enjoyed the proximity of the house to the road to Glacier Point. We cooked all our meals at the house--everything we needed (dishes, utensils, pots/pans, etc) was in the kitchen and we used the grill each evening. The hot tub was perfect after full days of hiking and all the beds were comfortable for our family. The swing outside is a nice touch! Everything was clean and updated--we LOVED our time at this house!
Nice vacation property!
The Starfall vacation house is pleasant – just like how it shows in the pictures. I’ve read previous reviews and was worried about the noise created by ongoing construction behind this house. Eight months ago, when I booked this vacation house, I asked management if this might be a problem when we go for our vacation. They said that construction should be completed by then. Fast forward 8 months, which was this past weekend, it was nice and quiet because there was no active construction. The house behind us is not yet completed….looks like construction was stopped, so we did not have the noise problem. One neighbor, though, about 2 or 3 houses away, seemed to like to belt out her operatic songs, which we were able to hear at night!
Anyway, the point is that we enjoyed the house. The spiral staircase is cute and romantic but not feasible for those who have knee problems. The stair rise is a bit steep – 8-1/2” per rise. Our grandson enjoyed his loft bedroom as he somehow had his private sleeping area while still being able to watch the activities downstairs: watch tv, hear the conversations and not miss a single action!
The lower floor bedroom with a door leading to the deck was too small for a king size bed. There was no place to put a side table. The other bedroom with a queen sized bed was adequate, but you can’t use one electric outlet opposite the bathroom wall because the barn door leading to the bathroom was in the way. The stackable washer and dryer was a nice addition, although the washer tub was way too deep for us to reach into. I had to use tongs to reach for the clothes. I found that the dryer needed 2 cycles to completely dry our clothes.
Sunsets were wonderfully breathtaking and warm seen from the deck! The hot tub was a very popular feature with all of us. The kitchen was fully equipped. Management provided the basic necessities and that was truly appreciated.
Check in and checkout was easy and painless. Yes, I would definitely come back if given the chance.
Everything was perfect
Our family of 5 had a brilliant stay at Starfall. The property was immaculate and comfortable yet so modern. The EV charger and flat entry into the house were added bonuses and we would absolutely stay here again. The jacuzzi was a welcome treat after long hikes. Just loved it all!
We had weather issues getting into the National park and Scenic Wonders communicated well and helped us rearrange our plans.
Nice for limited mobility
We took my mother to see the Yosemite Valley for the first time. The house was really easy for her to get around in with her walker. We were able to create her own private suite by giving her the bathroom next to the queen room and we used the upstairs bathroom for ourselves. We are used to staying in the valley so the drive in and out each day was a little bit of a drag but we got to see The Tunnel View every day! The house is about a 20-25 minute drive to the valley so no big deal. This was a relatively last minute plan and so the valley accommodations were all booked. This house was a terrific next best option!
Cute cabin, but on a construction site when we visited
This review is a challenge for me. The actual accommodations of the unit are as depicted in the pictures... very cosy, plenty of room for my family of five, and located in Yosemite saving plenty of time waiting in line at the main gate.
The issue we had during our visit June 23-27 2018 was the amount of construction happening around the property. There were two large homes being built directly behind our unit. So, instead of calm woodland views surrounding the cabin, we had many large bulldozers parked within feet of our unit. Most of the chainsawing and power equipment activity was shutdown by 7:00 or so, and we spent most of the day on the trails (of course), yet this was a fairly big obstacle to overcome.
So take that into account for our review. Once the construction is complete, this property will again be a nice place to enjoy in Yosemite.
Lovely house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hot tub + BBQ a real bonus!! Thankyou. Would highly recommend.
