Craving a coastal cottage escape?

Then look no further! Offering idyllic seaside charm with homely modern day comforts, this beautifully presented former coach house provides a dreamy South Hams escape along one of Devon’s most treasured coastal hotspots.

Located down a timeless country track, with far reaching views of the Dart estuary from its elevated location above Kingswear Castle, the cottage has been lovingly modernised to enhance its period charms, with a luxury finish perfect for families and friends to enjoy!

Internally the high quality finish and décor perfectly befits a serene seaside escape, with sky blue and cream tones accompanied by warm honey hue wood furniture and flooring, creating the perfect tranquil canvas for painting timeless holiday memories.

The ground floor of the holiday cottage offers a relaxed and welcoming ambience for guests to feel right at home, with a large living room which leads directly through to a spacious kitchen diner. The living room offers a welcome sanctuary in all seasons, with comfortable sofas overlooking the idyllic surroundings and complemented by a flat screen TV, WiFi access and a contemporary wood burning stove, for cosy evenings in!

French doors from the pretty living room lead out to a sunny raised decked terrace, providing a wonderful venue for enjoying romantic ‘alfresco’ dining, with far reaching sea views of the estuary framed by ancient trees to serve as a breathtaking backdrop.

The well-tended sunny private garden to the side of the holiday cottage is ideal for daytime relaxation, with a large lawn with mature borders and a less formal dining area to also enjoy.

Providing the perfect excuse for home cooking, the fully-equipped kitchen diner next to the living room features ample space for large groups to enjoy, with a bright and sunny open plan layout ideal for entertaining. The newly fitted country-style kitchen perfectly blends in with the charming cottage-style finish, with pretty views over the beautiful garden to further enhance the room.

All the desired appliances are provided here for guest’s use including an oven, electric hob, kettle, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.

A delightful garden view dining area laid with charming honeycomb floor tiles and furnished with a large dining table for up to 6, conveniently accompanies the kitchen, making the ideal year-round venue for informal breakfasts, meals and dinner parties.

The first floor of the property offers 3 luxury bedroom suites, all furnished to an equally charming and high quality, with far reaching sea views to enjoy from the front bedrooms.

A sumptuous master bedroom with king size bed, sea view balcony and luxury en-suite with bath tub offers a restful haven in which to relax and unwind after a busy day of sightseeing, whilst the second double bedroom; also fitted with a contemporary en-suite, offers the ideal tranquil retreat for a second couple to enjoy.

The third bedroom to the cottage also features a contemporary en-suite and offers the perfect choice for two individuals to enjoy, with a pair of single beds. A relaxed loft-style sea view sitting room to the first floor also offers a tucked away idyll in which to relax with a good book.

**Please Note: the NEW HomeAway nightly pricing & tariff calculator displayed to the right, calculates nightly rates by taking the weekly tariff rate and dividing it by 7. This nightly rate is misrepresented, as it does not take into account Short Break Percentages explained in the Tariff Notes section below. Sadly we have no control over this new trend towards nightly 'hotel-style' pricing so please get in touch and we will be happy to help you further.**

From the charming holiday cottage a private parking space is situated nearby and the village amenities of Kingswear; which comprise a local store, post office, pubs and church, are all within easy walking distance. From Kingswear guests can easily take the ferry across to the famous historical fishing port of Dartmouth, where a host of excellent restaurants and shops await.

The holiday cottage is also within easy reach of the local modern day amenities and attractions of Torquay (10 miles), Newton Abbot (15 miles) and also Paignton and Brixham.

The South Hams:

The South Hams is only a few miles away and is recognised as being a great place to visit on a day out.

Although the main administrative town is Totnes, there are other towns which are probably more popular for visitors, especially those on holiday. We can suggest some great days out from your Torquay base that will give you a flavour of both the hustle and bustle and tranquillity experienced by this region.

The South Hams has the estuary towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Salcombe, all well known as places to enjoy fine food and local shopping, not to mention their popularity with boat owners and fishermen.

There are some magnificent beaches such as Beesands and Slapton Sands, which stretches for miles to the rocks reaching around to Start Point.

If you want a great day out (without the car), take a trip to Paignton and catch the Steam Train to Kingswear and then the Ferry to Dartmouth. You could then take a ferry all the way back around Berry Head to Torquay Harbour. This can all be organised through a single ticket from Riverlink

South Devon:

South Devon has a coastline of spectacular rugged cliffs and headlands, interspersed with lower-lying areas, sandy beaches and the five distinctive ria river estuaries of the Dart, Avon, Yealm, Erme and Salcombe.

The coastal scenery also includes reed beds, sand dunes, shingle ridges, mud flats, salt marshes, and the freshwater lake of Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve. This variety provides habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. The South West Coast Path National Trail running along the whole stretch of heritage coast, provides access to spectacular scenery, long views across bays and the English Channel, interesting beaches, and a scattering of coastal villages & historic towns such as Salcombe & Dartmouth.

Review by Simon from Bristol: "A stunning location and more than we could have hoped for for a wonderful few days away at new year. House is very spacious and very well furnished, just the job for 6 of us. Easy to get to stunning walks on the coast of just chill out in front of the real fire. Bit of an up and down walk into Dartmouth (20 mins). Car is a must to get there. Would definitely recommend for a peaceful or good walking holiday and would certainly go back again."

Guestbook comments from the manager

We stayed in castle cottage three years ago and were extremely happy to see that it had returned to holiday rental. We absolutely loved it there the first time and we were not disappointed this time. We will definitely book it again in the future.
