House in harmony in East Pelion, Mouresi !!
The newly stone built eco-friendly house in Pelion, Mouresi, that was made in 2007 after two years of construction, is definitely a head turner.
The uniquely positioned estate impresses with the balance it creates with the natural setting of the mountain and the way it captures the view of the Aegean.
It was intentionally built with local natural materials as not to disrupt the harmony with the surrounding environment that hosts it. It is made of stones that derived from the land during the excavation for the foundation construction, wood and marble.
The total size of the fully furnished two storey house is 200 square meters hosted in a land of 1000 sqm with fruit trees, grapevines (producing fab organic wine!!), variety of flowers and of course a lovely designed garden with barbecue to enjoy unforgettable dinners or your breakfast while having the feeling that you are flowing over the sea.
The estate consists of 3 double bedrooms, two living/sitting rooms with sofas and fireplace, a big kitchen with dinning area with a monastery table, 2 bathrooms and an entrance area.
The interior design is combing chic rustic elements to the traditional approach, taken into account every single detail with the aim again to sustain ‘harmony’ and not to overlap and cluster with the powerful beauty of the natural materials of white and grey stones, deep brown wood and rustic shade of marble.
The indoor areas do not ‘envy’ the astonishing view that the outdoor property features as the large windows capture the view and fill every room with bright light !!
On the ground floor-an entrance area, a double bedroom, a bathroom with shower, spacious living room with two sofas and a fireplace, big kitchen fully equipped, suitable for dinning leading as well to the outdoor dinning area in the garden.
On the first floor- two double bedrooms, a sitting room with two sofas and a fireplace, a bathroom with bath, two balconies.
Outdoors- dinning area, barbecue, stove oven, garden, storage room
The house is accessible in one minute drive from the main road. It has private parking for two cars. The street parking is also allowed. The nearest petrol station is 2 minutes away. The nearest bakery, taverna and grocery shop are within walking distance. The nearest ATM is 4km away. Nearest beach resort of Agios Ioannis and the beach of Papa Nero and Plaka are 10 min drive. You can find more distance popular destinations in our section of ‘The Village of Mouresi’- all distances are calculated from the house.
‘Wellcome the experience of living in an ecohouse that features the magnificent mountain and sea scenery not only by capturing the astonishing view but by capturing above all the powerful energy of the ultimate Harmony !!!
The owners got in love with Pelion almost at the same time they got in love with each other !!
They had their first summer holidays in the magical Pelion as a couple 40years ago !! And since then Pelion was their holiday destination!!
They lived all their life in Athens up to the time they almost retired in 2005.. when they started their life dream project to built a paradisial house in Pelion..and they did it !!!
Although constructing a house exclusively out of stone is time and money consuming, the owners decided to go that way because the rewards of that kind of building are countless. And the result paid them off... the house highlights the traditional Greek architecture, respects the environment and offers to the guests a unique sensory experience as the stones store the heat ideally acting as temperature regulators throughout all seasons.
They hope that you will enjoy your stay and that your experience will be utterly unique !! and they have already bet that you will instantly fall in love with Pelion too !!
And a message from me, the older daughter of the owners..I enjoy holidays in our Pelion house every minute, every time, for many different reasons..but the moment I crave when I am away is when after a long day in the beach I return home and enjoy the sunrise in the outdoor dinning area with beloved friends and family, with a lovely glass of organic wine and my charcoal prawns...and the dessert is neither sweet nor sour..is not food for the stomach is food for the soul...is us staring at the stars..the brightest stars in the most rich sky I have ever seen...
Areti purchased this house in 2007
The house is very attractive both inside and out. As well it is impeccable, spacious and well laid out.The kitchen had everything we needed so we had some great meals around the big table. Our hosts were most welcoming ; Areti was so helpful and warm and her father too, attending to all our requests as well as giving us olive oil and wine.
Mount Pelion is a fabulous place to visit with beautiful little villages, (Kissos was our favorite)and a breathtaking drive with its hairpin bends and views of the Aegean. The house is a 15 minute drive down the mountain to the sea. A car is essential unless you are an expert hiker. Pelion is a perfect place for hiking and you will get very fit going from village to village. At the end of the journey there is delicious food to be had in restaurants, tavernas and bakeries, both in mountain villages and by the sea. Really this side of the mountain is an unspoilt little corner of Greece and this home a wonderful base from which to explore it.
The house is spacious, spotless and very well furnished with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It has a lovely garden in a quiet location with beautiful views.
We were two couples with three children who also enjoyed their time here.
We were given a very warm welcome from the owners, who gave us lots of useful information about where to go and what to do before we arrived.
What a treat this house is! The property is, in fact, more beautiful than the photos. We had a relaxing week in what is a perfectly designed and large house, with two separate lounge areas, inside and outside dining areas, and lovely breezy balconies. Three great bedrooms. The stone work is beautiful inside and out. The views down to the sea and up in the hills are wonderful. We cooked amazing meals in the kitchen (which has many supplies and lots of equipment), and bottles of olive oil and tsipouro from the hosts were there on arrival. We were able to pick figs and herbs from the garden to use too. We played music and talked late into the evenings, and there were some great DVDs. A good washing machine that we used, and lots of towels and linens. We were sorry not to be able to use the open fire places as it was summer! And next time will try out the outside pizza oven. We visited all the local beaches, cafes and squares, as the house is positioned centrally within easy reach of lots of options. Plaka was my favourite beach, and the Agion Taxiarchon square at Tsagarada has a beautiful church, fountain and cafe. The thousand year old Plane Tree at Agion Paraskevi square at Tsagarada is worth seeing. There are local bakeries and butchers, as well as quite a few small supermarkets. There was free wifi at a cafe in Tsagarada as well. We had wonderful hosts, and the communication with Areti & her father via email and phone (in both Greek and English) was easy. It was VERY hard to leave. Thanks to both of them :-)
Pelion, half away between Athens and Thessaloniki, known from the mythology as the Mountain of Centaurs, is often characterised as `blessed` region
because the densely planted mountain with the enormous variety of trees, fruits, herbs and flowers is combined harmonically with the crystal water of the beautiful sea !!!
Pelion hosts a selection of the most spectacular beaches in Greece, especially the Eastern part where Mouresi is located.
The Village of Mouresi, one of the oldest villages in the heart of Pelion, is amphitheatrically built above the beautiful beach of Agios Ioannis and the bay of Damouxari.
It is located at the East region of Pelion, at an altitude of 400m, 50 km away from the city of Volos and 4km from the nearest village Tsagkarada.
Mouresi offers a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea and the mountain.
Apart from the stunning view, its location is ideal as a base, as in 10 minutes drive you can reach few of the most remarkable beaches and at the same time to be only 20 minutes away from the Ski Centre in Chania.
In other words, its an ideal destination for both summer and winter holidays !!
You can visit the nearby beaches of Agios Ioannis, Damouxari, Plaka, Papa Nero in 10 minutes drive and in 20min you can be in the Beaches further away as of Mylopotamos, Fakistra and Agioi Saranta. All around the coastline of Mouresi the beaches are in the Aegean Sea side but they vary in many aspects, offering that way a big selection that can satisfy every different taste. You can find from a well organised, but yet unspoilt, sandy long beach surrounded by green mountain sides to a small isolated with smooth pebbles beach with turquoise water. Remember that the producers of Mama Mia shot lots of the scenes in a natural bay of Damouxari !!
For those that they love trekking they can use the forest paths (or Kalnterimia) to reach the beaches or different destinations and enjoy walking in the nature while listening to the water going through from the numerous of fountains to the water streams throughout the mountain even during the summer. A refreshing stop to enjoy the mountain spring water is far more than essential !
Mouresi has a very pleasant climate, in the sense that due to the altitude, the wooded mountain, the rich waters by the fountains and the sea you will experience cooler (but still summer temperatures while having plenty of sunshine during the whole summer).
The ideal climate is another reason visitors choose Pelion as they can enjoy a lovely Greek sunny Summer without feeling distressed by experiencing unbearable heat waves !!
The traditional cuisine with unique and tasty dishes is far more than a fact !! You will enjoy eating out in restaurants or traditional tavernas in exquisite locations !! It is a fortune to have tasty meals made of local products in paradisial environments !! Food culture in Pelion is a whole chapter itself !
The list to See, Do and Feel in Pelion is enormous !
The traditional unique architecture of stone built building villages, the squares hosting restaurants and cafés with astonishing views, the lush nature, the amazing beaches with clear green blue water, the churches and the trekking paths are the start to your trip in exploring and enjoying Pelion
