Didn't Meet our Expectations

  • 2 of 5

We are sorry to say that of all our accommodations in a seven week journey through Europe, this one rates one of our lowest recommendations. Valeria informed us before our arrival that she would be out of town and her housekeeper would be able to assist us. After getting our luggage into the flat, we went through the information booklet, quite happy we did, as our first surprise was to find that the water in the kitchen was not drinkable. Thankfully we were able to get to a store to purchase water to drink. That evening when we made dinner, the kitchen area was covered in grease from other peoples cooking. The walls, the plastic plants and the hanging utensils were covered in grease. The counter tops were also dirty and greasy and the cupboards were hanging off of the hinges. The stove top flames when cooking were very exuberant and the fan (used as recommended) was necessary and the smell of gas was overwhelming even when the fan was on. The weather at the time of our visit was very warm and with only one fan and only one door it was difficult to keep the flat cool even though it was in a dark basement with very little natural light. There was absolutely no airflow to the flat. The back yard is beautiful and our children did indeed enjoy the trampoline. The bathroom shower was not clean and I had to clean hair from it before we showered. As well, there was only the remnants of a roll of toilet paper left for our family of five. Thankfully we were able to shop after our arrival. We appreciated the washing machine, however we would like to have been warned that the sprinkler system goes off just outside the private entrance. It took two nights for us to realize why our clothing was not drying in the 35 degree weather.

Finally, the back room where the towels are kept clearly has had water damage as there appears to be mould in the cupboards and the smell is quite strong. The smells were overpowered however by the flowery diffusers throughout the flat.

Although Valeria was away, she did leave some packaged snacks for us, which was nice. Contacting me via e-mail while away, she reminded us to contact her housekeeper if we needed anything. We did not contact him however as I felt these issues should have been in order before our arrival. In hindsight we should have let her know about our issues immediately , but we were so overwhelmed that our frustration level was beyond help at this stop in our vacation.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

My wife and two daughters stayed here while visiting Italy. This was a great place to stay while we visited the sites in and around Ostia. Valeria was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was really cute and the neighborhood was very quite. We would stay there again if we ever go back. The only think that could have made it better would be either cooler weather or air conditioning. Valeria did provide a oscillating fan which really helped.

Thank you Valeria!

The apartment is beautiful. It is clean, well decorated, comfortable and cozy. It had everything we needed. The location is great because you are still close to the main attractions of Rome but just away of the craziness of the big City. The apartment is located inside a beautiful gated community. It is calm and relaxing. We went there with our little one and it was perfect as they have a garden with a little playground that our daughter loved.

Valeria and Mario are the best hosts ever. They came to greet us personally on the day we arrived and they even brought us some fresh baked cake. They are lovely and very helpful.

We totally recommend this accommodation and we hope we can come back one day.

Valeria was just amazing. We stayed with her after a large destination wedding in Italy. We had over 20 pieces of luggage. She even helped us coordinate and book the two vans necessary to get us to her house and to the airport. Her place is perfect, just as great as the pictures. The kids loved all the things to play with and we enjoyed all the amenities and the great restaurant within walking distance. I highly recommend both the property and the owner.

Wonderful stay in Aurelio

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I booked Valeria's apartment at almost the last minute. Valeria was VERY responsive to our many questions and concerns about arriving late, our stay and how to provide payment for our stay.

The apartment is JUST as pictured. It was very clean, and convenient for those who are driving. Valeria, and her husband welcomed us and gave us an overview of the place and how to use everything. They provided a nice welcome package of food items as well as maps and information about getting around. The place is located very close to several supermercatos, a pharmacy, a bancomat and several restaurants (these we did not patronize). We bought several meals including ok priced wine at Lidl for our homemade dinners.

The apartment was about 15 to 20 minutes from Fiumicino and about 20 to 30 minutes outside of Rome if you plan on renting a car. Personally, this location was ideal for travelers like us that did not want to have the constant noise and congestion of Rome, but wanted to visit it.

We wholeheartedly recommend this villa for a stay in Rome, trust me you will not be disappointed in your selection!

Incredible accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

Valeria is an excellent host! Communication with her is fantastic and quick. She even left us daily notes to check in and see how we are doing, which was very thoughtful and kind. The place was beautiful, my boyfriend and I discussed how we would actually live there. The location was a bit far from downtown Rome, but it was nice to get out of the city. That said, in the suburbs, English communication is rare. The cafe nearby is fantastic. But the restaurant is just a restaurant (don't treat it like a bar!). For our departure, Valeria kindly arranged for us to have a taxi take us to the airport. We highly recommend staying at Valeria's!
