Lake Cabin on beautiful Pequaywan Lake

Bedrooms 2
Space 1,068 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

This is a well-kept, 1000 square foot cabin that SLEEPS 10 and has an AMAZING view! Beautiful sunsets occur nightly right out front and are the highlight of the evening. The songs of the loons will take all your stress away.

Pequaywan Lake is a private lake with no public access so it is very quiet, except for the loons. We offer a new swim raft and the water is warm and clear for swimming. We offer a pontoon for rent; you can contact us for rates . In order to insure that Pequaywan Lake stays clean and free of invasive species, we do not allow guests to bring their own boats. The lake bottom is solid but has some gravel, so swim shoes are recommended for children. The best fishing on the lake can be found right off our 32’ dock where walleye, small mouth bass and northern pike can be caught.

The location is convenient; only 40 Minutes from Duluth Mall, 45 Minutes from major tourist area "Canal Park" on Lake Superior, 45 minutes from Gooseberry Falls and Two Harbors is 25 minutes with lots of shopping, hiking and tourist areas. Looking to take in other sites? It is only a short drive to Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Light House.

Food and drink can be found at the Pequaywan Inn which is 4 miles away. They offer a full menu and full bar. Hugo's Bar /Convenience store offers Beer and setups and a limited menu. They also have bait/tackle/propane tank refills/minimal groceries/gas. Hugo’s is 7 miles away to the north.

Entertainment and Amenities: The cabin has satellite television and DVD player for rainy days. Wireless Internet is also provided. Owner offers pontoon for rent separately until it is pulled out for the season.

For motor sports enthusiasts, there are hundreds of miles of 4-wheeler trails right out the back door. St. Louis County allows ATV travel on the road ways so getting to and from trails is a breeze. The snowmobile trail is within ¾ of a mile of the cabin with easy ditch access…enjoy the Pequaywan / Brimson trails or use them as access to the North Shore Trail or Iron Range trails for longer adventures.

For the hunting enthusiasts; the Cloquet Valley Forest area offers some of the best grouse hunting territory in the state with thousands of acres of public land right out the back door.

Hikers and back country bikers can drive less than 5 miles and access the Superior Hiking Trail.

Fall Colors are unbelievable in this area; a perfect way to enjoy the early fall in the northland.

The cabin has full water and sewer in the summer months. We drain the pipes in the late fall, after which we just bring water along and we use the (brand new) very clean, heated outhouse. The outhouse has electricity run to it so we have lights and a heater in it for those winter trips.

Cell phone coverage is good with AT&T but Verizon is unavailable at this time. We also have internet with wifi that can be used for voip calling and messaging. Please see your manufacturer for setup.

We are also pet friendly and offer a large (5'x10') outdoor kennel for your convenience.

About Jim and Trisha

We live in nearby Hermantown with our 3 school aged children. We bought the cabin so they could enjoy the lake life as they grow up. With busy schedules, we try to get to the cabin a couple times a month and we want to share it with others when we are not able to enjoy it ourselves.

Jim and Trisha purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Jim and Trisha chose Duluth

The best sunsets you can find with nightly sounds of loons calling.

Nice Fall Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Nice Place! Every thing we needed was there for cooking our meals. Beautiful fall scenery. We even caught fish off the dock, 3 small mouth bass!

Great space, beautiful scenery.

  • 5 of 5

My husband, our sons (ages 10 and 13) and my in-laws stayed here over MEA. We visited Split Rock, Gooseberry Falls and Glensheen. The cabin was well stocked, owner communicated well and we were all comfortable. Thanks!

Great house on the lake with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

The place was great. We stayed with four smaller kids and we all loved it. The fishing was good, the views were great, and we really enjoyed the lake had to offer. Trish was very responsive and very accommodating. The house had all we needed and we were just close enough to Duluth and State parks to enjoy some day excursion. Thanks again.

Nice cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a great time at the cabin. We took our yellow lab and she had a great time.

The cabin was clean, comfortable and cozy. We used the fireplace every night and it warmed the cabin so nice. We had no complaints and owners were very friendly and quick to respond to e mails.

I would highly recommend this cabin.
