My family has been in Rochelle for a century and I am pleased to return after 20 years in Paris. I am the owner of a boatyard TechniYachtsPinta, close to the old port. As a hobby is to fly. I speak English and am delighted to help you to discover what a jewel La Rochelle is.
This rental is the family home where I grew up but recently left in order to live in a bigger house in La Rochelle. The exceptional character of the location of this property made me want to allow visitors to enjoy this place overlooking the port.
The highlights of the rental include:
- Unique location with a view of the sea, port and channel ,
- Complete high quality renovation that was completed a few years ago for personal use,
- Air-conditioning unit for hot days.
We were four "over 60" ladies travelling around France for six weeks. We were very fortunate to have had excellent accommodation everywhere but this took the prize. Thierry was a great host, always answering emails promptly. He met us on arrival and spent quite a bit of time showing us around his gorgeous apartment and providing lots of information on things to do, where to eat and any questions we had. The views from every window in the apartment were amazing and the top deck was magic. We just sat in awe and never got sick of watching the boats going in and out of the harbour and just people watching and how the scenery changed at different times of the day. The apartment was huge over three levels. It was immaculately furnished and had every household item and all excellent quality. It is a little noisy at night due to it's location. I did wear ear plugs from the plane which was sufficient. We were very sorry to be leaving and if I'm fortunate enough to go back I'd definitely like to stay there again.
This apartment is beautiful and well-equipped. The location is fun and has amazing views of the harbor. however be sure to bring ear plugs. The nights are very loud with people yelling and partying. Our air conditioner was broken so we weren't able to close the windows at night. I would have appreciated a fan as the first night was so hot we couldn't sleep. (The owner did give us a bottle of Champagne.)
The upstairs patio is amazing! We spent a lot of time up there enjoying the panoramic view! We rented the small apartment and would not have had access to it had my sister not rented the larger apartment. That was not clear to us and would have been disappointing.
Overall, I would recommend this place.
What an extraordinary apartment! Location could not be better. Great (and not expensive) restaurants just around the corner. Monoprix 2 minutes away for breakfast staples. View from the window...boats, seagulls, storms coming in and out. Excellent hot water shower. Washer and dryer. Kitchen fully equipped. We could live in this apartment indefinitely and be very comfortable.
Most importantly, Thierry is a remarkable VRBO host. His English is excellent. His knowledge of La Rochelle..its history, its future...fascinating. Five stars does not do justice to this spot.
This is a fabulous apartment, Bright, airy, modern, and spotlessly clean. All cooking and cleaning facilities. Air Conditioning was so good as we had very hot weather. Perfectly located, so central beach just couple minutes walk. View to the outer port is spectular.
Thierry was very helpful and booking in and out was flawless.
We loved this apartment and hope to return.
We spent a wonderful week in the 50 sqm apartment. It is spacious and bright, due to two large skylights in the living and dining areas as well as smaller skylights (with shades) in the bedroom and bathroom. The apartment is exactly as pictured with beautiful views of the outer harbor from the window and high quality furniture and appliances. The kitchen was highlighted by a full-size refrigerator, microwave, full oven and dishwasher. A very pleasant surprise was the Nespresso machine. The Monoprix, a short walk from the apartment, has a good selection of coffee pods to fit the Nespresso. On the way to the Monoprix is a very good boulangerie which can supply tasty things to enjoy along with the coffee. There is both a clothes washer (with a very convenient 15 minute "Express" cycle) and a separate dryer. Thierry was delightful to work with. Responses to our initial email inquiries were answered promptly. We were offered several options with regard to the security deposit and the deposit was returned the morning we departed the apartment. He met us upon arrival at the apartment and explained all the features as well as provided very good recommendations on shopping and dining. He also suggested, among other places, our visit to Île-d'Aix, which turned out to be a highlight of our visit to La Rochelle. The area seems to be a vacation destination for more Europeans than North Americans. My North American friends, however, should take a close look at La Rochelle as a destination and Thierry’s apartments for their accommodation. When our travels return us to La Rochelle, we will certainly be contacting Thierry again.
This cozy 3rd floor apartment is perfect for 2-3 people. Bright, modern design with brilliant use of all the space. It also has top quality appliances and everything you need. The bed was very comfortable and the pull out sofa was firm. The location is superb and very central. Only minutes away by foot from great restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores. Thierry was very easy to deal with and check in and check out was flawless! I highly recommend staying here! We loved it...
The old port of Rochelle has many towers and battlements you can visit.
There is an aquarium, well known for the diversity of its species.
