Casa Clara is a traditional Spanish almacen house nestling in the quiet hills of inland Andalucia.
It has two bedrooms, bathroom, living room with wood burning stove and open kitchen. The kitchen has all modern amenities and opens onto a large shady terrace. The master double bedroom has french doors which lead out to a private family size swimming pool and colourful garden. The second bedroom has twin beds and in the sitting room is a comfy easy to pull out sofa bed. Both bedrooms benefit from airconditioning and ceiling fans.
The house itself is very private and sits in its own 9 acres of lemon, orange , almond and olive trees with stunning views of Alora and the surrounding countryside.
Whilst in a quiet rural location, the house is easily accessible being only 30 minutes drive from Malaga airport and less than 10 minutes drive from Alora.
Walkers, cyclists, climbers and other nature aficionados love this area for its scenery and wild flora and fauna.Alora is perfectly placed as a base from where to explore the real Spain.
Sevilla, Granada [the Alhambra is a must see] and Cordoba are less then 2 hours away. El Chorro, with the famous “Camino del Rey” which is open now for a 7 kilometer walk with stunning views , look at internet for tickets but the fantastic El Torcal with it’s unique rock formations are natural monuments that you really should see.
We recommend that you hire a car to explore the area as well as for your main shopping at Mercadona (the largest local supermarket) or to visit one of the many bars and restaurants in Alora. There are some smaller local supermarkets, bars and restaurants within 20 minute walking distance.
Malaga town is a magnificent historical city well worth a visit with it’s Picasso Museum and Art Gallery and NEW The Pompidou Museum, Thyssen Art Gallery and lovely old centre. From Alora you can take a short train journey right into Malaga. A day trip to Malaga town beach and marina is a favourite with our visitors. and step straight into the centre of the town.
Other coastal highlights to visit are Nerja [the caves], Marbella [casco antiguo, the old centre] and Puerto Banus [the jetset]. They are within an hours drive.
This is a holiday destination to suit everyone!.

We found Alora quite by accident one Easter while touring round Spain on a family holiday. We loved the scenery and the feel of being in real Spain. We loved it so much that my husband trusted me to come back on my own and find us a hideaway where we could come back time and time again to chill out. Casa Clara was one of many houses I looked at but when I stepped through its gate the first time I knew it was the right place immediately and that I'd found our dream holiday home.
Not only did I fall in love with the beautiful garden and pool, but Casa Clara sits in a huge plot planted with olive and fruit trees and so it' s beautifully private with gorgeous views of the old town and castle and the Valle del Sol. Being so close to the airport was a bonus - who wants to drive for hours after a plane journey - you just want to get there!!! We have been renting the house for 10 years and have visitors who come back year after year. Our visitors book is full of lovely compliments from guests who enjoy it just as much as we do.
We thoroughly enjoyed Casa Clara. It was comfortable, well stocked, relaxing and had everything we needed. A great location for seeing Andalucia - we took your advice and drove over the mountains to Marbella : stunning.
British TV (we are addicted to news channels) and wi-fi made a difference, as did the nice big fridge in the shed. Nothing to quibble about, to be honest - we had a great experience. 4 stars
Delighted with our stay here. The property was wonderfully clean and tidy, and the very amiable local manager Gerard was present at our arrival and departure and answered all our questions. Plenty to explore near and far in Andalucia and Gerard very forthcoming with ideas and tips. Also lovely place to spend lazy days enjoying the pool, the view, the abundant fresh lemons and the local flavour generally. We are already planning a return trip. Highly recommend.
This is our third visit to Casa Clara and each time we have had an enjoyable peaceful holiday in the beautiful surroundings. The cottage has all the amenities required for a relaxing holiday - the BBQ is excellent, perfect for easy suppers and the pool superb, beds comfortable and the air conditioning this year a welcome addition. The standard of cleanliness is very high ( even a clean freak like me couldn't fault it). The nearby town of Alora has all the shops required to stock up as well as some great Tapas bars. A drive to the lakes is well worth a visit but it is just as easy to stay relaxing by the pool.The response from the owners on enquiry has always been prompt, courteous and helpful, we look forward to a return visit to Casa Clara very soon.
This was our first visit and we received a warm friendly welcome to this extremely well-equipped little cottage. It has a gorgeous garden (even in October) carefully planned to allow relaxation in complete privacy in sun or shade. The pool is excellent (but not well suited to small children). We enjoyed picking ripe figs each day for breakfast and having excellent lemons for our fish in the evening. Alora (10 mins by car) is a pleasant white town with all amenities including a good supermarket and restaurants and there are lots of interesting places to visit in the area.
The remote location does mean that access is via a dry riverbed and a steep unmetalled track but it's perfectly manageable in a small hire car. We'd happily return.
This is our 4th visit to Casa Clara and it only gets better. Had a wonderfully relaxing week pottering around watching the wildlife and getting out and about the area. The new A/C will be very welcome come the heat of summer and the new beds were so comfortable it was just like home. Gerrard and Nelly who manage the house were incredibly welcoming and their attention to detail in the presentation of Casa Clara was brilliant.

Beautiful character property in very peaceful countryside setting with fantastic views - clean, well kept and well stocked! Breakfast on freshly picked grapes, oranges, figs and almonds from the property's own trees.
Only 30 kms from Malaga airport, Casa Clara is a few minutes drive from Alora, one of Andalusia's famous 'white towns' built on a hillside with its own Moorish Castle. The town is traditionally Spanish with a number of bars and restaurants offering spanish, english and other cuisine There is a wide range of shops for all your needs as well as banks, supermarkets and a busy weekly market in the Plaza Baja. The town has a theatre showing live performances and cinema. It is the gateway to the nearby beautiful and dramatic El Chorro National Park and Ardales Lakes - perfect for days out exploring by foot and by by canoe. This area is ideal for walkers and climbers, and wildlife and bird enthusiasts. Malaga is a must for those who like to shop or for cultural activities such as the Picasso Museum, the Alcazaba and beautiful Cathedral - easily done by local train from Alora Estacion. For an exciting day-trip, the city of Granada is only about 2 hours drive away and if you want sea and coast then the Costa del Sol is within easy reach. Casa Clara is the perfect base from which to explore the real Spain.

The rental price does not include a maid service but this can be provided as an optional extra payable locally. The service provides a change of bedding and towels and a mini house clean. Guests staying for more than one week might in particular wish to consider this option.
We ask for a € 400 deposit to secure the booking with the balance payable not less than 6 weeks before departure.
