About this property

Squam Lake Classic Waterfront Home

On the shore of beautiful Squam Lake in Kesumpe Cove, this property is perfect for a large group such as a family reunion. There are 6 bedrooms, including a five-bed "bunk" room. This is a six generation rustic family camp built in the 20's with a large addition in the early 60's. There is no insulation and minimal additional heat so stays in early spring and fall can get chilly.
For boating, there is a shared dock with two dedicated boat slips. This is a W shaped dock with 3 fingers 6 x 40, the center finger is common use and the Camp Swan guests have use of a very large secure inside slip and the outside dock edge. The depth is suitable for nearly any vessel you would bring to this lake. We have docked a 26 foot vintage Chris Craft with no problems. Bring your own boat, or rent from one of several marinas in town.
Stay close and enjoy the call of the loons from the screened porch or venture further down the lake. You can swim off the docks to the nearby raft. Across the main road enjoy a hike on the Sandwich Range or take a short drive to Rattlesnake Mountain for amazing views of the lake from the rock face. Many great restaurants within a short drive. A popular area for biking as well. For children, the Squam Lakes Science Center is only one mile down the road.
We prefer backgammon, board games or puzzles while at the lake, but cable TV and Wi Fi are available. The town of Holderness is just 1 mile away for shopping.
Nearby attractions include Lake Winnepesauke, the White Mountains, with hiking along the Appalachian Trail, and outlet shopping in North Conway.
The Squam Lakes are well-known for magnificent mountain scenery and unspoiled beauty. Encompassing 7,700 acres of clear water and 65 miles of shoreline, the Lakes Region is a wonderful environment to experience a summer of unforgettable memories. Fishing, sailing, and canoeing are right off your doorstep.

Wedding weekend
We stayed here for a Sept wedding with 8 family members. The house was great, clean and well furnished in old Squam camp style. The owners were very friendly and always available. Overall a great stay. Be advised that there is no dishwasher! A problem when there are 8 people. Not disclosed earlier.

Wonderful camp on Squam
We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at Camp Swan. Susan and George are wonderful hosts and provide a spacious, well maintained, well outfitted large rustic camp on Squam Lake. We enjoyed boating, relaxing, and spending good time with family and friends.

Another week at our home away from home!
The Alvord Camp was ready and waiting for our week on Squam. The house was clean, tidy and very welcoming - as usual! Always a pleasure to stay here and we look forward to booking again next year!

Big Bass Right Off The Huge Dock!
Yes, my nearly 4 year old caught a 2 lb bass with a Snoopy rod right off the end of the dock! Very classic place with a very nice camp feel to it. Great living room fireplace but didn't need it this week because we were blessed with really great weather. House is large enough for our mixed group of 13 with ages from 2.5 to 75. Nice upgrade this year is the double fridges in the kitchen with ice making capability. Screened porch with another upgrade of more comfy porch furniture is key to enjoy the evening without the bugs. Located on Big Squam less than a mile as the crow flies to the Squam channel connecting to Little Squam makes it convenient for boat gas and the General Store if you need. This was our 5th year with our great hosts and will continue in perpetuity if they let us. Great spot, big house, nice reactive hosts, all the things you need to have a relaxing vacation. Our family has been vacationing on Squam for 44 consecutive years. Of all the places we've stayed, this home is one of the best!

Amazing squam
We love our two weeks at the Alvord’s and they do not disappoint. The house is always clean and ready for us. They always have improvements from the year before. And they are so easy to deal with. Feels like going to a family cottage not one we rent. Can’t wait for next year.
