Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, The Cottage at Murrayfield House makes for the perfect get away. On arrival, you are greeted with green fields and rows of blossoming trees lining the driveway to the cottage. The location offers rural West Sussex at its best, combined with the convenience of being just a short drive from many attractions, amenities and places of interest.
The cottage is furnished with modern fittings throughout, carefully chosen to fit the country style in which it is placed. One of the lovely features of the property is the resemblance to that of a chalet with its delightful first floor balcony and quaint table and chairs, making it ideal to share a glass of bubbly on a warm evening.
Upon entering the cottage, you find yourself in a good size hall which links to a large open-plan kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is well equipped and includes a dishwasher, washing machine, cooker and microwave. From the hall you will also find the cottage's cosy and comfortable sitting room with television, DVD player and iPod docking station... so don't forget to bring your tunes with you.
On the first floor are the cottage's two large and comfortable bedrooms. There is a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with French doors opening out onto the balcony and providing you with a view of the lush walled garden. In-between the two bedrooms is a good sized family bathroom with a separate bath and shower enclosure.
Guests can make use of the tennis court in the grounds of the owner's house, which neighbours the cottage and there parking is available on the gravelled driveway.
With two young sporty boys the location, tennis court, generous grounds and airy house ticked all the boxes. Perhaps being only 50-75 metres from the large owners dwelling may not suit everyone but the Proprietors were very friendly. Also you are along a long, tree lined drive so there is plenty of privacy. Add in the fact you are only 10 minutes drive from the coast/ Chichester/Arundel, 20 minutes from the South Downs and 30 minutes from Portsmouth and the motorway network I would describe the location as ideal for exploring. We even made it to Brighton in our weeks stay but the bests trips were to Petworth and Indecote/ Bosham
This is a beautiful cottage in a lovely garden. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio and drinks on the balcony. Close to so many interesting local places - Chichester, the sandy West Wittering Beach, Portsmouth, and only 10 minutes from a station with trains to London. Our children loved having use of the tennis court, and the owners (who live next door) were really welcoming. We highly recommend this holiday home.
We (two adults and a 12-year old boy) spent a wonderful week in Chichester which was partly due to the clean, cosy and very well kept cottage. The spacious and well equipped kitchen allowed an easy cooking, I didn´t miss anything. The two bedrooms offered a lot of space and a nice balcony. The living-room was furnitured with a comfortable couch and armchairs (though a little coffee table would have been nice here). The glass doors in the living-room and the kitchen windows allowed a nice view into the huge garden. We felt absolutely at home right from the beginning - we arrived on a rainy day and thoroughly enjoyed the hosts´ cordial welcome and advice for the week as well as the assortment of tea, hot chocolate, orange juice etc., which was awaiting us. Thanks a lot for that!
