3 bedroom, 2 bath Southern Exposure Lots of windows close to hiking trails
About Donna Reardon
I enjoy gardening, hiking, live music & lots of adventure. I began traveling after graduating from high school and found my way around the world working on yachts. Mostly sail boats but in Australia I joined a fishing boat called El Zorro. They were out to catch the largest Marlin in the world. I got a lot of experience in hospitality, serving guest and cooking. I've been an Evergreen resident now for 30 years and love mountain living.
Donna Reardon purchased this House in 1989
Why Donna Reardon chose Shadow Mountain
The property sits on 1 1/4 acres tucked away in the forested hills of Evergreen in Arapaho National Forest where neighbors are not right on top of each other. Hiking trails are within minutes from the property. The neighborhood is surrounded by nature, wild life & for the most part, serene & quiet. You will see lots of hummingbirds in the summer months & experience cool evenings.
What makes this House unique
I fell in love with this property & found it in its building stages. It is peaceful & away from the city. The stars at night are amazing with no light pollution. The close proximity to hiking trails is a big plus. I like living in the forest & beautiful views of the mountains & full moon lit nights around the camp fire, in the hot tub or watching the sunrises & full moon while sitting in the living room. Love the southern exposure & all the large windows that provide lots of sun for all the healthy house plants.

Quiet stay in Evergreen.
We had a lovely stay at this house. Donna was friendly and welcoming. The setting is beautiful
Hi Karen, Glad to hear you had a lovely stay here. I enjoyed meeting you & look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to Evergreen to see your friends. Thanks for leaving the home so clean! Maybe next time you can stay a bit longer...you are all welcome back anytime. Hope you son found his keys.
Would not stay here!
Really don't know where to start. The grounds are overrun with weeds and lack of effort. Hot tub steps are broken. Didn't trust going in the water!! Went to use the grill. Guarantee never been cleaned!! The place is total clutter and you can barely move around. First thing upon entering I went to put ice in freezer and the handle came off in my hands! Many more of those type of instances! There is a thirty foot trailer in driveway making getting in and out of driveway difficult! Sure it hasn't been moved in years!! I lived in the area for around ten years and was looking forward to seeing friends and being "back home". What a letdown!! I could go on and on! not enough space to elaborate. I have stayed in a number of VRBO'S. This was the worst!
Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. Most guest actually compliment the gardens & the indoor plants. My property is unique from most VRBO's as I live onsite & do have personal items in the home. Wish you the best of luck in future stays.
Great location -- needs some disclosures
This property is in a great location in Evergreen. You have few trails close by but do not dare walking to those trails as it is very easy to get hit by a car since there is no pedestrian walkway on the roadside.
I use VRBO quite a lot and have often rated properties 4 or 5. I'm rating this property a 3 instead of 2 because the owner is very helpful and was great in getting us ice and the food processor (the existing options in the house didn't work).
1) This is a two story cabin and the owner lives in the first floor while the guests live in the second floor. If you're looking for complete privacy, you might be disappointed.
2) The listing says two bathrooms but one of them is part of the bedroom with no separation, which can essentially turn it into a one bathroom option if the room is occupied.
Some improvements the property could use:
1) The front and backyard need a lot of maintenance and an immobile RV in the front is off putting.
2) It seemed like the towels and bedding wasn't washed with a detergent or hadn't been dried up because they smelled a little moldy.
3) The property is filled with plants - 30 plants in the living room. This makes the place too crowded and no room for the people. The property is also filled with several cute antiques that try to give it a theme but it felt more like being in a shop.
Hello Farhan, Thank you for your review. I do disclose the information regarding owner occupied on the lower level. No intention of not disclosing that information. It states this in the description:
Guest can enjoy the entire upper floor. When I host guest, I am on the lower level with a private entrance. Yes, there are a lot of healthy house plants...most people love them & that is the first thing they comment on...sorry they seemed to be in your way. Yes, I agree, the back yard needs to be weed wacked with all the rain we've had this spring so always working on the outside of the property, pulling weeds, cutting down trees etc...Mountain living...Glad you enjoyed the Ninja blender!!
Beautiful peaceful setting, Enjoyed seeing the deer in the yard and hummingbirds. Hot tub was nice and relaxing.
Close to everything
We were half an hour away from the Larriot Loop with all the attractions. The wooded lot was very peaceful.
Lariat Loop National Scenic Byway loops around Evergreen, into the town of Morrison where world renowned Red Rocks Amphitheater is located. This is a must see amphitheater, even better if you can attend a concert with one of your favorite musicians. The scenic drive over Lookout Mountain is where you will find Buffalo Bills Grave.
