Traditional Formentera finca in it's own land with private swimming pool.

The house is situated between San Fransisco (the capital of the island) and San Fernando. It is about 7 kilometres from the port of La Savina and about 4 kilometres from fine sandy beaches on both sides of the island. It is an old farmhouse with massively thick stone walls and high woodbeamed ceilings. It is modernised and very comfortable, but simple. It is not a smart villa.

There are:

Large living room.

Kitchen.

2 bathrooms.

2 double bedrooms.

Small sitting room.

Swimming pool (open from June to end of September0.

The large living room is approximately 7x3.5 metres. The smaller sitting room has a long built-in sofa and a fireplace. There are two bathrooms, one opening off the living room and one by the front door. The first bathroom is large, with walk in shower, bidet, basin and lavatory. There is hot and cold water to the shower, basin and bidet. The second bathroom, also large, has lavatory, shower and basin with hot and cold water. The kitchen (deep blue tiled) is fully equipped for six people and has a gas cooker, electric fridge and microwave. Water heating is by gas (butane, delivered to the door). There is electric light and the pump to raise the water is electric. Linen is provided and is changed weekly.

There are large private walled terraces at both front and back of the house and there is a large garden for children to play in. The pool is irregular shaped and has a shallow shelf on the terrace side. There is a barbecue area near the pool. The pool is open from June to the end of September. We usually eat on the back terrace, beside the pool in summertime. The views from here, over the salt lake to Ibiza with the Vedra on the left, are spectacular - especially the sunsets.

Cars, mobylettes and bicycles can be rented on the island. There is plenty of space for parking vehicles on the land, in the shade! If you are going to hire a car, we recommend an electric one as it is more eco friendly and, very usefully, there are some designated parking spaces in the busiest areas. Parking can be very difficult in high season.

We have a friend who looks after the house; she speaks English, French and Spanish.

Wild limping aggressive dog was wandering around at night so you can't leave doors open in the heat, a problem when there is no air con as it was hot and stuffy. The house is close to the road so noisy, especially at night and unsafe to leave young children unsupervised. Dirty cushions for outside furniture. We had to request new mattresses as two smelt of urine. To shower outside ou have to stand on a wooden pallet the pool is painted black and there is no outside lighting so you cannot swim after dark.

A distinct lack of thought in the presentation of the house and grounds, feels unfinished and scruffy around the pool. Chipped dirty mugs

Unannounced visitors (pool maintenance/plumber water replenishment). The bathroom smelt and had been badly cleaned and no cleaning products were provided.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry that you feel it necessary to focus on all the things that were not to your liking, and I do hope that you were able to enjoy your holiday despite your issues with our family home. Pleaser remember that this house is clearly advertised as : “modernised and very comfortable, but simple.”. The price for rental is reflected accordingly. To respond to the issues raised: Mattresses: You texted me Sunday 31/7/16 9pm telling me that two mattresses smelled of wee. The house manager bought new replacement the following day. I agreed to this despite our house manager telling us they did not smell at all. Noise: On 2/8/16 you texted me about the noise from the road and the peacock, but appeared to be a comment rather a complaint as you said ‘all part of the experience I suppose’. It is clear from the information and location map that the house is near the road and that there is noise from the road. Dog: On 3/8/16 you texted me about the dog. I contacted my house manager who dealt with the issue on the same day and I understand that the dog was then kept tied up by it’s owner. Things you have not raised with me: Heat: It is clear in the info that the house is an old finca and has no air conditioning. The outside cushions: I grant you these re last years, but were perfectly serviceable. These have already been replaced. I am sorry that this was not done before you arrived but they were ordered in April so I had hoped they would be there sooner. Unsafe to leave young children unsupervised: I am unclear what you mean by this? Pool/outside lighting/shower: The pool has always been black and no one has raised an issue about this, am unsure what your complaint is? There is outside lighting, there are two light switches, one by the back door and one outside. The outside shower does have a pallet, this is a new addition and is a work in progress. Unannounced visitors: Pool and water suppliers will always knock/shout out to ensure they are not intruding and it is not really possible for them to come at pre arranged times, Formentera simply does not work that way! Cleaning: This is done at every changeover. There are cleaning materials left for every customer. I am surprised at this review as we resolved all raised issues within a day, and you sadly make no mention of our responsiveness.

Very lovely holiday in your Old Farmhouse with pool.

Your description was very good and the property was exactly how I imaged it would be although the door height was quite low for me as I am 6ft 1" and after banging my head a couple of times I quickly remember to duck!. We did not eat out locally often so I an unable to comment, but you are very convenient if you wish to travel anywhere on the island, very central for everything. Once you know what day/time the pool man arrives and along with the cleaning lady for the change of linen/towels etc you are not disturbed by anyone. Wish I was still there, thank you Gay.

Hemos pasado unos días muy agradables en la casa, muy tranquila y agradable. Todo muy limpio y cuidando los detalles.

Hemos aprovechado también el jardín y la piscina, y hemos estrenado la barbacoa!!

Una casa di campagna naturista e riposante.

Un'antica casa di campagna ristrutturata da poco. Minimalista, naturista, ma anche elegante. Capace di trasmettere emozioni. Un luogo di

pace dove tornare dopo le ore al mare o essere stati in giro per i

locali di notte. Vere controindicazioni non ve ne sono. Per noi è stata

un'esperienza senz'altro positiva, in una casa non comune perché

rappresenta molto bene lo spirito di Formentera. Non dimenticate solo di

essere in campagna, quindi non lasciate briciole per le formiche e usate anche l'insetticida di tanto in tanto.

La proprietaria è molto discreta e ben rappresentata sull'isola. La referente è stata subito disponibile al telefono.

The house is between San Francisco and San Fernando, just off the main road at Kilometre 7. Walking distance from San Fernando, but recommend hire of vehicle to access the whole island.

We rent from Saturday to Saturday.
We provide a contract based on the draft one from HomeAway, with an addition for the pool, and will send this to you as soon as you pay the deposit (or before if requested).

Cost above is inclusive of weekly clean sheets and towels; reasonable use of bottled gas and tap water. For your information, on Formentera tap water for kitchen/bathroom etc has to be purchased by the lorry load!

Supplement for heating depending on the season.

Check in after 5pm, check out by 11am.

If you want to confirm this booking, we ask for one third of the rent payable as a non returnable deposit on booking and the rest one month before the reserved date. If you cancel, the deposit is only returnable if we are able to re rent your dates.
Pets are allowed, but we would require 500 euro returnable deposit for damages.
