Excellent base for exploring Tuscany
We all enjoyed our stay at La Macina. It is a delightful house, comfortable, spacious and just a little bit quirky. We were a party of 8 and there was more than enough space for all of us. The bedrooms were very comfortable, the kitchens well equipped ( the three fridges were very useful !) and everything was very clean and well maintained. The pool looked inviting, but unfortunately Spring is not really the time to be testing the water. The terraces and gardens were lovely, with table, chairs and loungers and a sweet tree house for the young at heart. The views are great and a pair of nesting peregrine falcons nearby made an interesting extra - we were glad we had binoculars with us. The house is a good base for exploring the area, we visited San Gimignano, Volterra, Pisa, Siena and Florence during our stay and were still able to spend some time relaxing in the garden most days. The owner of the house is clearly keen to make sure that things run smoothly- we had a problem with the boiler one day and, once he was aware of it, he was there within the hour and sorted it out, which we were impressed with. We loved our stay and would highly recommend La Macina.
Great location to visit San Gimignano, Siena, Florence. Loved the patio area and sunny terrace with pool. Well equipped kitchen and good size bedrooms.
Thanks a lot for your feedback and hopefully we will have the pleasure of having you back again one day!
Wonderful villa, ideally located
We spent a wonderful week in this splendid villa. It has a lot of charm, it is well equipped and very convenient for a party of 10 (we were two families with 6 children). We come back with fantastic memories of sunrises on the Tuscan landscape, evenings on the terrasse, great family dinners around the giant table of the downstairs living room... The children enjoyed the garden, the swings and the adorable treehouse.
The villa is well located, close to San Gimignano, one of our favorite visit of the week. But also not far from Sienna, Firenze, Vinci and of course the medieval village of Certaldo Alto (+ many other places we didn't have time to visit). We also took a hike straight from the villa and ended up on the Via Francigena which has a section nearby.
Only recommendation to improve: the agency should be quicker to reply to enquiries, especially after paiement has been done and it wouldn't hurt that they answered the phone. Poor communication made the reservation and period prior to arrival unnecessarily stressful...
Thank you very much for your kind feedback on your stay at our villa!
As for the delay in the responses, however, we must point out that, as duly informed you in August, the cause was due to a serious failure of our telephone voice and data lines over a period of about 3 weeks, apart from this, and as our e-mail and SMS correspondence can confirm, we did not fail to offer as usual our assistance until the check-in and during the stay.
Fazit: sehr empfehlenswert!!!
The region is located in the central, western part of the country, north of Rome and south of Genoa. It is bounded by the Apennine Mountains to the North and East, the Apuan Alps on the Northwest and by the Tyrrhenian Sea on the West.
