Serenity Meets Adventure On This Property
- English, Portuguese
The Rum River is one of Minnesota's best kept secrets. I love exploring untouched river. Andy grew up about 20 minutes south of the property. He now lives with his wife, 2 daughters, and animals on a lake in Excelsior, MN. Andy is also a Licensed Realtor and Construction Consultant with a great reputation throughout Minnesota.
Andy purchased this House in 2017
Why Andy chose Milaca
This property is my dream home. My wife prefers the bustle of the city, so this is a dream come true for myself and anyone seeking a private and serene setting. Kayaking, canoeing, or just relaxing on this property is incredible.
What makes this House unique
This is a true north destination, but very conveniently located off 169; and reachable in one hour from much of the metro area. You will think you left the state once you bring your bags in this home, but you are close enough to run back for your phone charger if needed!
100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
Great spot with a good view of the river.
Flexible but sleeping situation was not ideal
The owner was great, flexible and easy to work with. The property was in pretty good shape. I would recommend clarifying how many beds will be there before your stay. When we stayed they were doing some moving around and the farm house did not have any beds in it. They provided air mattresses but not ideal. Other than that, it had great areas for people to gather and overall we had a fun weekend.
Like a Lodge in Wyoming!
What a beautiful log house! All high-end furnishings and finishes! Mattresses were very comfortable. VERY clean! We were planning to do some fishing in the Rum River but the weather was unfortunately terrible; it would have been nice to have the fireplaces working. Mark the handyman was very helpful. Be sure to ask Andy for the WiFi password if you need it. Andy was very responsive to any requests we made. TV's work but there is no cable connection so no TV stations, note also that the TV's are older so there is no HDMI connection.
Overall we have a very pleasant and relaxing stay. We would stay here again but we like to explore new places every year. I would give this property five stars had the fireplaces worked and there had been a cable TV connection.
Thanks for the pleasant review Karin. I really try to make each stay great. I appreciate the feedback and will be getting a more modern TV with HDMI hookups. Mark has the fireplaces running now- they needed new thermal couplers. Also, thank you for being such great guest and leaving the home in great condition! Take care - Andy
We walked in and the floors where soaking wet due to rain coming in from the patio doors. My poor child slipped and hurt herself. So his ad is very misleading No river access, No fireplaces,no canoe, grill to dirty to use, no lights in main area, sliding doors are broken, screen door is broke,NO TVS ,NO WIFI, stairs to get into cabin are a hazard, not child friendly. It was very disappointing but he did offer me a $50 refund. Also he wanted me to try and fix things myself. I never have stayed in a place where so much stuff didn't work.
Nice log home!
Very cool place. It’s like an animal museum with awesome mounts all over the main level.
Deck has a spectacular view to the river.
River rides were exciting...pay attention...
Well maintained place and good value for the $$
This was our second visit to this property and it was just as amazing as the first visit. We are already looking forward to next years stay, can’t wait.
