This suite of apartments is located in a lovely historic palazzo. The apartments are recently updated in a beautiful style of traditional and antique Italian furnishings updated with modern touches.
This is an unbeatable location in a quiet little courtyard, just 100 meters from one of the main streets that bisects the center of town. Since you will be right in the center of town, you are a 3-5 minute walk from 3 small grocers, 5 or 6 cafes, the main cathedral, 10 restaurants, and a number of shops. It doesn't get more central than this!
Each apartment features TV, WiFi, refrigerator, cooktop, new cookware, and all dishes and utensils. Bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and are furnished with all new 160 thread count 100% cotton linens, down and / or synthetic filled duvets, and your choice of synthetic or down pillows. Bathrooms are beautifully decorated in red marble tile with skylights and are equipped with a shower or bathtub, sink, toilet, and bidet.
Talk about going back in time! My goodness, it was stunningly ancient and all the more valuable to us because of that. I had expectations of Frette bed linen and so on which was, frankly, ridiculous and IKEA sufficed for our stay. The stairs can be challenging if the lift (elevator) is full so please be aware of that. However, it's on the stairs and in the courtyard that you meet the residents and that represented another wonderful surprise and would make me want to return. It's possible one or two may come to Ireland since our encounters and I would love that. Vanessa is the epitome of kindness, humility and professionalism. We wanted her to come back with us to Ireland also but why would anyone want to leave Lucca or Italy. Ridiculous suggestion! The fact that we could walk everywhere was such a bonus and Vanessa's list of restaurants, and trattorie was perfect. We went everywhere she recommended and were thrilled. The kitchen is down a few steps as is the small bedroom with 2 single beds so, again, for anyone less active that might be a little challenging. Just so you're aware. There is nothing more to add except please pass on my very best wishes to Vanessa if and when you meet her and I hope you have the time of your life in Lucca.
We stayed in this rental for 5 days with friends. The house was warm, inviting, and very well appointed. Everything we needed was there, including some things we didn't expect, like basic condiments for cooking, and tons of travel maps with suggestiong on sites in the area. The two bedrooms are very different, one large loft with bathroom, and one very small bedroom with a bath very nearby. Very comfortable in every way. The hostess, Vanessa, was over-the-top helpful and kind to us, even meeting us at the gate of the walled city, where we had to park our car, and walking us right to the apartment. This was a great stay, and we were all sad to leave the place. We'll be back!
The walks around the top of the wall were stunningly beautiful, and the shopping and dining in the little city were extremely enjoyable.....
You cant go wrong in this apartment, one of the nicest we have stayed in.
Lots of space and air con - essential as it was over 35C ever day we were here.
Lucca is a delightfull town, loads to see & do and handy for exploring other Tuscan attractions.
Vanessa responds to all emails & offers lots of helful advice to enhance your stay.
We stayed at this charming place for 6 days this summer. It was centrally located near the shops and in the middle of the town. We had air conditioning, a full kitchen, and an elevator. It was perfect for my family with two children. Vanessa made sure that we were well taken care of and made some great suggestions for our visit to Lucca. She helped us find transportation to and from the airport in Pisa and in Florence. We loved this place and we loved Lucca. We can't wait to come back.
Vi stayed here for three nights. 2 adults and two teenagers. Perfect location for us. Easy walk to everything. Our host, Vanessa, was very helpful, friendly and available if we had any questions.
We brought our car inside the wall to load/unload luggage. 5 mins or so walking to the apartment. Vanessa suggested a free lot outside the walls for overnight parking. This worked well for us.
Note of caution: We didn't ask Vanessa about transportation to and from Pisa as we figured out it would be easy enough on the bus. It was simple enough, but we missed the last bus back from Pisa as this left before the last trip up the tower (4+ hours or so after we arrived) was over. We were told by tourist info there would be another bus, but ... they were wrong. Luckily there was a late train.
The Pisa trip had a happy ending: We made it back closer to 11 pm, still wanting dinner. We expected to find most restaurants closed but instead found the town full of open shops and restaurants, with various bands playing around town as part of the Notte Bianca (White Night) festival. Lots of fun, a last night in Lucca with dinner at midnight.
We'll probably stay here again if we're ever back in the area. There is still more to see in Lucca. While we were here for three nights ( 2 1/2 days), we only spent about a day ( 2x half day) in town, with the rest spent on an afternoon (into evening) trip to Pisa and a full day trip to Cinque Terre. (I know, more time would be better and more relaxing ;-) but it was what we had this time).
Our group consisted of 4 adults and we spent 10 wonderful days in Italy. During that time, we stayed 5 days in Lucca at the Jacopo apartment and we all agree: it was the best part of our trip!
This apartment is absolutely charming! It’s furnished with beautiful antique furniture, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen, bright/clean bathrooms and a high efficiency washing machine. It’s close to the train station and located in a quiet neighborhood that will steal your heart. With that said, although the apartment was perfect, the best part of staying at Jacopo was our hostess, Vanessa!
Before we even had a chance to meet her, Vanessa retrieved a piece of lost luggage for us from an airport courier (no small task!) and had it waiting when we arrived. Her efforts saved us a trip to the Pisa airport not to mention our sanity! Then, our first night in Lucca she made a reservation for us at one of her favorite restaurants; which quickly became one of ours! Throughout our entire stay, Vanessa kept in touch with us daily via e-mail to make sure that we had everything we needed and/or to help us with sightseeing and travel questions. She is simply the best!
So, if you’re planning to visit Tuscany, consider lovely Lucca; it’s an endearing, quintessential Italian town that makes a great home base with easy train access to Pisa, Florence and the Cinque Terre. And, if you decide to experience Lucca, I highly recommend renting the Jacopo apartment; it makes a wonderful home away from home!

This apartment's enviable location makes it ideal for exploring all that Lucca has to offer. Since it is located in the physical center of the historic center, all of Lucca is no more than a few minutes away on foot. From here you can explore the amazing boutique shops that line the main streets of town, visit the city's museums, theaters and concert halls, eat at any of the dozens of excellent local restaurants, and, of course, go for a leisurely stroll on the city's astonishing (and enormous) city walls. Being flat, Lucca is very bike-friendly and bikes (and pedal-cars) are inexpensive to rent for the day at any of a number of local shops.
Lucca is also the perfect city to explore all of Tuscany. Lucca uniquely combines an important mix of ingredients that we believe you'll find nowhere else in Tuscany. Its location is perfect for exploration: 30 minutes from the Leaning Tower and Pisa International, 20 minutes from the beaches of Viareggio, 45 minutes from the mountains, 60 minutes by train to Florence, and an easy 1-2 hour drive to Siena, Volterra, and the rest of Tuscany.
