We had a great time in our cabin. It was perfect for what we wanted. Close to several hiking trails, quiet but close enough to Cashiers and Highlands to grab a meal.
Cozy, comfy, great view!
We enjoyed are stay and were happy with our accommodations. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and a bit rustic. Our host communicated well and we appreciated it. Will look to visit, against n, in the future.
Very comfortable cabin to stay in for our family.
We enjoyed our stay! The road was just a tad bit challenging to get to the house but the directions were easy to follow. Make sure you print the directions before you leave and the lock box code because cell service is very scarce where the cabin is. Thanks for being such great hosts!
Sitting in the living room or on the front porch, relaxing and looking at the mountain is really the best thing about this cabin, but when you get tired of sitting, there is lots to do. First, Whiteside Cove Road is a beautiful scenic road with spectacular views, so you can just drive along the road and take in the beauty. You can take a 10 minute hike down the road and go spelunking in "Granite City" as the locals call it, a series of caves and rock formations in the side of the mountain. For a longer hike, you can drive about 5 minutes down to the trail head of the Chattooga River Trail. In 10 minutes you can drive to a spectacular and fun sliding rock, just off the side of the road, that is great fun for kids and adults alike. In 20 minutes, you can drive down Bull Pen Road to the Chattooga River and hike or picnic along the river, and, if you want to eat out or need a city fix, downtown Highlands and Cashiers are both just a 15 minute drive from the house. If you want to play golf, High Hampton Country Club in Cashiers is just 15 minutes away.
Finally, don't forget to top off your stay by climbing Whiteside Mountain. Yes, you can climb to the top of the mountain you see in our pictures. Not up the front of course. But you can drive about 20 minutes to the back side of the mountain where there is a parking area and hike about 30 minutes up to the top. Standing on the precipice of this 5000 ft. mountain, the view is unbelievable. You can see into Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee, and if you look real close, you can see the cabin where you are staying in the valley below.
