About Ronnie Clifford
My name is Ronnie Clifford and I bought my house in Bovey Tracey in 2008 to be close to my Mother and Sister who both live in the area. I have not been able to spend as much time there as I would like over the last couple of years and I really want the property to be lived in. So, I have decided to rent it out as a holiday let in order to get some energy running through the house. It has a lovely feel to it, warm and homely and I do hope you will enjoy staying in it as much as I do when I am not either living in London or spending time traveling abroad.

Why Ronnie Clifford chose Bovey Tracey
I love to be in Bovey (as the locals call it). It's easy to get around and you can walk out for dinner or to the pub for a drink. The outdoor swimming pool is a must in the summer and is a stones throw away. Get out on your bikes and visit the local area, calling in at many of the local restaurants for a bite to eat along the way. Torquay is not too far away and some of the best beaches in the country are worth a day out to visit. It's always good to have Exeter close by for a bit of 'retail therapy', if all the walking and cycling get too much! There is also a paint ball circuit just down the road, before you get to Trago Mills. If you haven't been to Trago, then it is worth a visit, if only to pick up your holiday bargains. For any family 'The house of Marbles' is also a must with lots of things for both kids and adults to do, plus of course, great food at reasonable prices.
What makes this House unique
The house has both a downstairs twin bedroom with a single bed (and a fold-out if needed), plus a downstairs Wet room. With ramp access to the property from the front it provides ease of access for those less able to use lots of steps or stairs. Upstairs there is also a cloakroom and two additional double bedrooms. The most outstanding feature of this property is its south facing garden which gets the sun from morning to evening most of the year around. With BBQ and Chimenea provided plus outdoor benches and tables and chairs; enjoy wonderful evenings in this stunningly beautiful south facing garden.

Convenient location for exploring Dartmoor and Torbay
I specifically booked this home because of its location in Bovey Tracey - the gateway to Dartmoor. But it was also near the A38 motorway with convenient access to Exeter, Torbay, and even Plymouth. I was traveling with my mother who has limited mobility. This house offered a ground floor bedroom with a walk in shower for her. I was also able to have my own room and WC on the first floor. The house was sufficiently stocked for any family vacation. As Americans, we had some difficulty trying to turn on the heat or using the Power Shower - I recommend the owner provide more details on how to use these items in the house. Overall, it was the location and convenience that made this rental valuable to us.
Great location in a comfortable home
We spent a lovely week staying in Bovey Tracey . Perfect location for exploring this part of Devon . The house was perfect for our needs , spacious for 4 adults and cosy. Also ideal for our dog with a secure back garden and great walks from the house.
Not as good as I expected
I am sorry to say that this didn't quite live up to expectations from the time we arrived. I assume Anne was on holiday because there was no-one to greet us, no cream tea or even a pint of milk as a welcome, in fact we had to get down on our hands and knees to access the front door keys from a security box outside, not easy at 70+ years of age.
The kitchen is well equipped, the dining table can seat 6 easily. The lounge furniture is not adequate for four adults, there is one 2x seater sofa which is reasonably comfortable, one small two seater modern sofa, narrow and not deep enough to sit on properly, and finally a single chair which is very low down and well worn. This would be fine for 2 adults and two or three children but not four adults, my son-in-law sat on the floor!
The only shower in the house is a new wet room on the ground floor which is very attractive but the floor hardly slopes, if at all and you are requested to mop the floor after use, the mop provided is a Vileda sqeezy mop which doesn't leave the floor at all dry (a wiper blade type mop would be great) and although a bath mat is provided to put on the floor after use it takes a long while to dry out and is not pleasant to use. I have no idea how you could shower children without getting soaked .
The bedrooms are fine, one double upstairs is very pretty and modern, has storage baskets as drawers and a tripod clothes airer as hanging space, no wardrobe but is manageable. The second double/triple is a large room with twin beds which we thought would be made up as a Kingsize as we had informed the owners we were two couples, in fact they were made up as two singles, and being only 2ft 6ins wide was not suitable for us,however we pushed them together and made do.
There is a very pretty garden which we kept watered and tidy, but sadly no comfy lounger chairs in which to sit and relax in. The outside furniture ,again, is dated and a bit rickety!
There is a washer/dryer in the garage but you are requested not to use the dryer and are asked to hang your washing on lines in the garage. There is nowhere to hang washing outside which is very silly when you have such beautiful weather as we are experiencing.
In conclusion, I know these things may sound very petty but it is the little things that make or break a 'stay away' and this house is in a very convenient position and it wouldn't take much to make it a whole lot better.
An enjoyable Christmas
The house was comfortable, with plenty of room and well provided with kitchen equipment - most important for Christmas. All round it was a good place to stay, and one we would recommend to family or friends. The spare bedroom we had intended for our son and daughter-in-law to use on Christmas night could not be used as it wasn't practical to keep their dog downstairs in the kitchen while they were upstairs. They decided to go home to sleep - fortunately only as far as East Ogwell.
A lovely week revisiting Devon and Dartmoor.
A lovely property in a great, central location for the sea and the moors.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much. Please visit again soon! Rx
Great location and ideal property
Had a great week - good location for the moors and the coast. The House of Marbles just around the corner was perfect for the children.
The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Cream tea provided on arrival was lovely and other thoughtful touches. The property manager was most helpful without being intrusive. The garden is lovely and was much enjoyed by the children. We definitely hope to return.
Thanks for your kind words, much appreciated.
Yourself and your family would be welcome back at any time.
So glad you felt welcomed and enjoyed the cream tea, that's my Sisters speciality!
The world famous 'House of Marbles' is close by and well worth a visit. As it Trago Mills for the shopper in you that likes a bargin!
