Where The Sky, Ground And Sea Merge Into One To Create Dreamy Panoramas

About the property

The villa

Villa kalimera is a traditional private 'kalivi' (Greek country house) built of old stone with pool, terrace, gardens and spectacular mountain and sea views. If some of you have watched the film 'mamma mia' or read Aristotle's suggestions on wine, you already know which island i am referring to. In the heart of Greek countryside in the peaceful area of Raches, it is private and very quiet, yet only a ten-minute drive away from all the amenities of Skopelos' port and the picturesque old town with its shops, cafes and restaurants.

Set within its own olive and fig grove, the house is full of traditional character but with all modern conveniences. All rooms have a magnificent internal decoration of my family's journeys around the Mediterranean, making a very intimate and personalized ambient. From the terrace you can view the island of Alonissos in the Aegean, enjoy a sunbath or the stunning sunset.

From the pool you can get a glimpse of the beach of Stafilos and stargaze at the mind-blowing night sky. The house is surrounded by fenced garden kiosks and many private places to sit either in the sun or under shade and breath in the views, eat near the skopelitan fireplace or enjoy the cooling mountain breezes.

Upon entering the front door at villa kalimera, you immediately feel the country quality of the house. The stone built fireplace dominates the living room, as does the lofty wood beamed roof that houses a spacious loft area on one side.

The loft is reached by a steep spiral staircase and can sleep 2 persons on the double bed, although the best feature of the loft is the door leading to a roomy terrace/sunning area. The views are wonderful, facing east to the sea and the island of alonissos and south toward the stafilos valley. This spot boasts the loveliest sunrises from which the house derives its name, kalimera, meaning 'good morning' in greek.

The living room is furnished with traditional built-in sofas (which can be used as two single beds) and a coffee table in front of the fireplace. It is open plan to the country-style kitchen which has terracotta tiled flooring and pretty blue accents. A spacious wooden dining table sits in the middle of the room. A w/c shower room is located on one side of the kitchen and the master bedroom on the other.

The spacious master bedroom is furnished with an antique wardrobe, double bed and has an en-suite w/c shower room and its own private entrance. There is a loft platform bed which may allow for 1-2 children to sleep in with their parents, but is reached by steep wooden ladder so is not suitable for small children.

The 10 minute drive from town to villa kalimera is along steep winding roads offering stunning views. The nearest beach to the house, Glyfoneri, is about an 8-minute drive away. Just around the corner from skopelos port, at the bay of ag. Konstaninos, glyfoneri has a small selection of typical tavernas open from mid-may to mid september. This is a small beach however, for the days you don't want to venture far from the villa.

The closest main beach is reached by crossing to the south coast of the island and can be reached in about 15 minutes by car. Given its countryside setting and skopelos' exquisite nature, it is a walkers' paradise. In any direction from the villa, you will find fantastic views, nature and photographic opportunities.

The house is suitable for up to three couples, large parties and families. The two separate bedrooms with their own entrances offer a unique privacy and the outdoor areas and surrounding property is perfect for families with children.

About Alessandro Nerantzis

Dear visitor,

Allow me to introduce myself and describe briefly about the history of my family’s little island “gem”.

I'm Alessandro, with both Italian and Greek origins. My family lives in Thessaloniki, the northern part of Greece, where I grew up. I graduated in Management of Cultural Heritage in Italy and Spain which compliments on my true Mediterranean identity!

Alessandro Nerantzis purchased this villa in 1991

Why Alessandro Nerantzis chose Sporades

The island of Skopelos is one of those special places where people and nature establish a unique relationship and its ancient heritage takes you in a journey through time.

This is the reason that my parents immediately fell in love with this Aegean island during their first visit in the late 1980's. They decided to buy this piece of land on the top of the hill above Skopelos town and to restore the rustic farmhouse and maintain its unique traditional taste. We weren't alone in this project: family and friends enthusiastically participated in the reconstruction of the rustic “kalivi” and with time, this land became a place of cheerfulness and meaningful moments.

Therefore, the house has a very personal touch. The old and new creates a harmonic ambient where every spot feels familiar. Villa Kalimera is ideal for people looking for a romantic and peaceful getaway experience. Our goal is to offer you a relaxing and charming holiday, in a friendly and warm environment. We will be excited to welcome you in our villa and we will try to make you feel just as we feel when we enter through the doorway, feel like home!

What makes this villa unique

Some people say that you could never get bored of this island because you experience unique sensations as the seasons are changing. In my opinion, this precious “gem” of the Aegean islands offers everything that you could possibly ask for: spectacular countryside landscapes, blue skies and crystal clear waters with sandy beaches.

Happy holiday!

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Kalimera .. the house was lovely and full of character and the garden and views were beautiful. There was a lot of nature and would suit people who are not worried by this. It was a very peaceful place and it was particularly nice to sit on the roof terrace in the evening watching the stars come out. The drive down to skopelos town is steep but ok ... although we didn’t often go out because after a day on the beach we just wanted to relax at home and enjoy the environment. We enjoyed having a barbecue and in the end we never did make it into town for dinner because we preferred to be at Kalimera. It was a special place to wake up in and go outside to sit in the shade of the fig tree watching swallows dipping into the pool.

Owner's Response: Dear Polly, We are very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay in Country Villa Kalimera and thank you for sharing your review with the travel community. All my family works very hard to prepare the house to its maximum potentials in order to deliver memorable experiences. I am happy to read that you enjoyed the authentic lifestyle of Skopelos countryside, the peaceful natural surroundings that transmit relaxation and calmness. It´s indeed a special place to go for vacations. It´s nice to read that you particularly enjoyed stargazing on the terrace and the shade under the fig tree.. My two favorite spots of the villa:) Thanks again for your choice and we hope to welcome you again in the future! Kind regards, Alessandro

A beautiful and peaceful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Alessandro has been absolutely great, throughout the whole process, and made the whole trip very smooth.

The villa itself is stunning, as you can see from the photos, and I can only echo what others have said about it. The pool is well maintained and a good size, the roof terrace was lovely, amazing views - and there is a sense of space and tranquility throughout the villa and garden. A lovely authentic Greek villa.

There were occasional wasps outside, as we expected - specially if you eat outside - but we got used to them and worked around them, and no one got stung. We were grateful for the ceiling fans plus additional fan as it was mid August and hot at night! Easy access to Skopelos town, and also lots of lovely beaches, but our two teenagers probably would have been happy staying in the villa as it had everything they needed. It's worth exploring the island more widely, and we found some amazing spots including monasteries and ancient burial sites - if you do this just make sure your rental car is up to the steep hills!

All thanks to Alessandro, and we would highly recommend this gorgeous villa.

Amazing countryside greek relaxation!

  • 5 of 5

We had a really nice time in Alessandro's place. It's a real greek country house, full of interesting objects they have collected through the years. The pool is great of course, excellent way to get refreshed and enjoy the amazing view of the island and the sea. Skopelos is a truly enjoyable island, with amazing food, and a relaxed atmosphere. Completely recommended!

An amazing place to stay, a bit remote for the teenagers in our family. Bur perfect for real family time. Sitting on the balcony at night watching shooting stars. Swimming in the pool with the best ever view. Watching the sunrise from our bed every morning. I want to go back again & again. The only reason I ve not give it 4 stars is because of the wasps.... my son is allergic to wasp stings & so they made it hard to eat outside.

Owner's Response: Thank you, thank you Amanda! We would be happy to host you next time to our Villa Kalimera :) Unfortunately, we cannot control the nature of the island, but we garanty the sterilization of the house before and after the arrival of all of our guests to minimaze the presence of wasps.

Perfect relaxation in a stunning setting

  • 5 of 5

Alessandro was very helpful, even sending us ferry times and arranging car hire. The house is full of character and the garden area beautiful: especially the hammock under the olive trees with the amazing view past the pool to forested hills and the sea beyond! It is secluded and we truly relaxed, in fact we loved it so much we extended our stay by 2 days! I have been to 26 Greek islands and Skopelos has to be one of the best, possibly THE best. We shall be back!

We love this place

  • 5 of 5

The Kalimera Villa is a rustic romantic and peaceful place with an outstanding view .

Skopelos town and all beautiful beaches and places to visit can be easily reached by car.

We spent a wonderful relaxing time with our 2 kids (10 and 13) who loved the place as well (pool and big garden). One of our favourite places was on top - the terrace with view to the sea.

Alessandro was very helpful and accommodating and helped us to organize a rental car. Communication before the booking and during our stay was really good.

We hope to come back. We had great holidays.
