Welcome to Villa Charchala. The name comes from the Greek expression for 'the sound of children’s laughter'. The property is also known locally as Villa Kipos (Greek for garden).
It is beautifully situated on the site of an old orchard approximately 200 meters from the centre of Kassiopi and the surrounding beaches.
With 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms the Villa is ideal for a large family, groups of friends or several families together. With the ample space inside and out, the house offers the occupants a rare opportunity to satisfy the desire to either socialise or to enjoy a little private time around the well kept grounds. All bedrooms have air conditioning and all the rooms have ceiling vans. Especially for the guests who make use of the house in the winter, the house has central and under floor heating. And for those who would like to celebrate Christmas in the Villa, a Christmas tree and decorations will be available. Logs for the open fire can be ordered upon request.
The Villa has a large garden, and is surrounded with an authentic wall, topped with railings and a large gate, this ensures privacy, tranquillity and a safe environment for children to enjoy the garden and the play equipment. The swings can easily be interchanged to suit the appropriate age of the child.
The Villa has a secluded outdoor swimming pool, where after dark the atmospheric lighting creates an ideal setting for long cosy evenings on the terrace enjoying the spectacular night sky.
The well equipped BBQ has its own working area, refrigerator and lighting so can used either during the day or well after sunset.
From the house, especially from the balcony you have a magnificent view over the village Kassiopi, the sea and in the distance Albania.

GARDEN AND SWIMMING POOL
Outside the 900 square meter garden features two large lawns, one with a children’s play area. They are planted with a variety of local fruit trees. Visitors are welcome to help themselves at their own risk.
The swimming pool is serviced three times a week, its dimensions are 10 meters (30 feet) long by 5 meters (15 feet) wide and slopes gently from a set of wide entry steps to a depth of 1.8 meters (six feet). It is surround by a non slip patio that is a natural sun trap all day.
A Pergola with jasmine covered patio overlooks the swimming pool and provides an ideal outdoor seating and dining area that is especially enjoyable when using the build in barbecue. This patio is also accessed from the kitchen area of the villa.
The shaded pool table is always very popular with all our visitors.
The Villa far exceeded my expectations. Upon arriving at the gates, it stood out as an oasis in an otherwise typically greek area.
Bedina, the house manager was waiting for us and gave us a very warm welcome, along with very useful advice on places to go etc...She was absolutely invaluable throughout the stay.
The property itself was immaculate, as were the grounds and pool and they were all cleaned regularly during the stay.
I cannot speak highly enough of the villa and of the service we received from the owners and manager. I would recommend it to anyone.
We all thoroughly enjoyed it, escpecially our children, who loved both the pool and the pool table. Our son entertained himself with the Playstation, while our daughter had fun on the swing and hunting out the amazing insects and lizards!
There is an amazing array of really good quality tavernas to eat out, or Pandoras Supermaket (owned by the villa manager) offers a good selection of meat and fish (with free delivery), so using the lovely outdoor eating area and BBQ was also a popular choice.
Kassiopi itself is the nicest Greek resort that I have been to. It is so pretty, with it's lovely olive tree lined coves, with beautiful turquoise sea. It is not ideal if you want a beach holiday, as none of the beaches are sandy but most of the local shops sell paddling shoes. What Kassiopi does have to offer, more than makes up for it!
The villa was situated very close to the shops and tavernas. It is often difficult to judge how central accommodation is from a description, as a 10 minute walk varies from one person to the next. Let me assure you, that this is VERY close and yet, it's location and vast grounds, means that you have the privacy and peace of a villa further out of the resort.
There are lots of tour operators that offer coach trips and boat trips but it seems a fairly standard offering. We used Fulvia travel for both our transfers and our excursions, as they were competitive and offered a daily bus to a sandy beach for just 4 euros.
There is a hotel situated just a minutes walk from the villa (Lofos), which held a Greek night, with an excellent BBQ and Greek dancing, which made the holiday for the children, who have never seen traditional Greek dancing before. Again, the hospitality was warm and the food was beautiful. This was all arranged for us by Bedina, directly with the Hotel owner.
A truly lovely holiday.
We had a fantastic week in Villa Charchala. The villa had everything we needed and the children loved the pool and the outdoor space. The staff who looked after the villa were extremely helpful, giving us tips on where to visit. The villa was cleaned regularly and to a high standard and even our rubbish was taken away!
The setting had a real grand feel to it and it's location was perfect for getting into the pretty town of Kassiopi, where there are plenty of great tavernas, excellent restaurants and well stocked mini markets.
Other than actually getting to Kassiopi from the airport, there is no need to hire a car if you are seeking a chilled and relaxing break. The beaches are all within walking distance and the more expansive sandy beaches are all accessible via affordable boat trips which can be purchased in the town.
To summarise, if you are looking for a relaxing 5 star trip with great food, friendly locals and a villa fit for a king, then book villa charchala now and enjoy Kassiopi for all it's brilliance!
We really couldn't have asked for more from villa Charchala.
The gardens are immaculate and the pool side is everything you would need with plenty of loungers, outside dining space, large BBQ and free pool table. My favorite external feature was a good sized fridge which became our beer and wine store! The sun fills the pool side all day long and only starts to cast a shadow at about 5:30pm (in early June).
Inside all the bedrooms and living spaces are a great size, well presented and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment, crockery and cutlery. All mod-cons were in perfect working order. The bathrooms were, again, spotless and a good size.
We stayed as group of seven adults looking for a relaxing week away and, as such, Kassiopi was perfect. The villa is well situated with all bars, restaurants, shops and the harbor all within a ten minute walk from the front door. The nearest bar is called Don's which is great for food and evening drinks (and served us well as for a take-away on a night in).
Our holiday was made perfect by the property manager Bedina, who worked so hard to make sure we had everything we needed. When we told her the coffee machine wasn't working a new one appeared within a day, we were allowed to leave our luggage in a secure room after we checked out at no cost and, most welcome of all, we had a delicious lunch provided as a gift on our last day (I don't think this is a usual offering to all guests and it was greatly appreciated). Nothing was too much trouble. Additional cleaning happened twice during our stay and the property managers checked what time suited us best. We were even told off when we tried to help tidy the kitchen before we left as we were "still supposed to be relaxing".
Thanks for the great memories.
*** P.S. - There are a few local supermarkets but we strongly advise using Pandora's. It is actually owned by the villa manager but this isn't a plug on her behalf - they actually offer free delivery to the villa. Prices for food/drinks are pretty much the same as all other markets in the area and, when it came to lugging lots of things, this was a God-send.
Corfu is one of the most popular and beautiful islands in Greece. With a wealth of natural beauty, a rich culture that spans centuries and a gentle magnetic appeal it is easy to see what draws people back year after year. Corfu's diverse coastline offers beaches that range from glorious sweeps of golden sand and bustling seaside resorts to enchanting white-pebbled coves. Inland the scenery is spectacular, and there is an abundance of charming traditional villages where you still encounter donkeys, occasional traditional costume and of course the gloriously lazy pace of life Greece is so famous for. Corfu has an immensely long and chequered history. Renowned as a place of beauty, culture and hospitality since ancient times, Corfu plays her part in many ancient myths and legends. Ancient Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Venetian powers have all held fort on Corfu's shores and although excavations are relatively few there are many traces of these great powers to be found around the island and in the excellent archaeology museum.
The capital of the island Corfu town is a joy. Dominated by two impressive Venetian fortresses, graced with the inspired architecture of several different cultures and surrounded by the azure Ionian Sea the old town is a delight to explore. A maze of elegant narrow streets lead the curious onto hidden little platias arcaded avenues and Byzantine churches. A stroll through the park brings you to the sophisticated arcades and cafes of the 'Liston', the perfect place to sit in the shade and indulge in a good coffee or 'ouzo meze'. Shopping is excellent and provides for all tastes. From chic little boutiques and hand crafted jewellery, leather, or art studios to cheap and cheerful souvenir shops, Corfu has it all.
Kassiopi is historically a small traditional fishing village. However 2000 years ago it was the capital of Corfu Island. The village lies approximately 40 km from Corfu town (Kerkyra). The attractions of Kassiopi are the picturesque harbour with its terrace bars and fishing boats. The medieval fortress (1386) that has recently been renovated completely. Panagia, Kassiopi's seventeenth century church has several frescoes and icons of great interest. Kassiopi has everything you want for young and old. The gorgeous bays and clear waters make snorkelling and scuba diving very popular, the diving school in the village will give test dives in the swimming pool at the villa upon request. There are many varied walks, road cycle tours and mountain bike trails that can be taken in the area around the village and across the whole island. Kassiopi has a wide range of bars and restaurants and there are plenty of places nearby to visit: Avlaki beach, San Stefanos, the sandy beaches at Kalami and St Spiridon etc. To rent a boat is a different and fun way to visit the small secluded beaches and enjoy a completely different view of Corfu island and its coastline.
