4 Storey Holiday Home Full Of Rustic Charm For Simple Stay with stunning views

Our holiday house has a cosy home from home feel as it is a much loved family holiday house which we are pleased to share. Please SUBMIT ENQUIRY before booking as we prefer payment by Bank Transfer (Euros or UK bank)or P Pal.

The house sleeps 4 in 2 double bed bedrooms (open attic can provide additional sleep space in summer). Over 4 storeys with kitchen/lounge on ground , then up to double bedroom (shower ensuite), up again to another double (ensuite shower) and the toilet room, then up to top for open summer room with veranda with views of Alpe D'huez. This a great place to relax after walking or cycling with ipod, guitars, hammock, books and games. Wifi is available in house on MIFI ( Summer) and also available in most bars in the village. At present we do not have a separate secure area for bikes (people have locked in vans/or brought inside at night).

The house, now privately owned by our family, was staff accommodation for the Hotel Florentin. Although you're close to bars and shops, down the alley way is great retreat with excellent views form the attic.

Outside, there is some outdoor space for table in alleyway… feel free to pick from our small herb garden. The accommodation is at rear of Hotel Florentin (now closed) with shared space for table by house.

Although in the centre of the village, it is a quiet position for a relaxing holiday. If needed there are electric fires in each room and plenty hot water. There are 2 mountain bikes, guitars, ipod player available for your use with care.

Due to the 3 storeys and narrow stairs, the house is NOT suitable for anyone who has difficulty with stairs and toddlers. Please note, is a 'cosy' sized house , simple and characterful for a home from home stay. The kitchen/lounge area are in one room, both bedrooms have a double bed (the 1st floor bedroom is smaller than the 2nd floor bedroom), plus a large attic room with veranda for relaxing.

About Janette & Graham

Our house has been in the family for some years ... originally bought as a base for skiing by brother Stephen and friends. Once all the family discovered the delights of the area in summer we all visit at times with our children and friends as often as work allows. None of us are cyclists despite it being so popular but we do enjoy picnicking, exploring the waterfalls, playing music and some gentle bike rides.

Why Janette & Graham chose Alpe d'Huez area

The house really works for all the family... it is close to the local bars, shops and restaurants and yet you're surrounded by the most stunning scenery. Within an hour you have ancient cities, museums, shopping, swimming lakes, rivers with beaches & waterfalls. We all love nature, wine, art, culture and shopping ... it's all here!

What makes this house unique

We recently converted the attic to create what we call our Moroccan Room ... a place to chill out in ... with 2 guitars, ipods, hammock, books and a veranda for views up to Alpe D'Huez. Guests are welcome to use the 2 mountain bikes for gentle cycling (not for mountain biking) . Although it does not have a garden we do have space for table/chairs by the house in the alley.

Fantastic location in a beautiful town

We loved our stay at Bourg House, perfect location for a cycling break. The house is full of French charm and has everything you could need to self cater. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was excellent. Woke up to the smell of baking bread from the rear of the bakers in the alley. The two mountain bikes were brilliant for use around the town. Loved evenings in the attic wrapped in blankets with hubby playing guitar and lunch on the veranda looking out over Alp D'Huez. If you are thinking of booking do not hesitate, you will not be disappointed. No tv or wifi, heaven (though wifi can be picked up outside Cafe de Paris just up the road) my husband hired a high end road bike in town to climb Alp D'Huez. Much to do in the local area besides cycling, the scenery is stunning, France at its very best.

Pretty townhouse in perfect location

Lovely townhouse in excellent location only few metres from shops and restaurants. Great market on weekends.

Ideal for both of us as my husband thought cycling was brilliant and I enjoyed walking. Plenty of places to visit close by as shown in visitor book and web page. Favourite spot attic room, so peaceful stars were amazing as are views daytime. Welcome pack a nice touch. Would not hesitate to come back and would definitely recommend to others. Very atmospheric ( or it could have been the effect of the cocktails !) Most people cycle but like you we just lov walking and finding nice picnic spots to chill, read and rejuvenate. Charming, tranquil, and relaxing

We loved our time in Bourg D'Oisans and this rental was a highlight. Great location, beautiful view from the top floor, and everything we needed. Positioned right behind the bakery we were awaken each morning with the amazing smell of fresh baguettes. One downside was a loud bakery fan, so light sleepers pack your earplugs. Full kitchen with everything you could need and then some. A great welcome package from our host helped to kick off our stray. Very clean, well maintained, and lots of personal touches.

Can't wait to go back!

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is in a great location, with shops and cafes on the doorstep and amazing views over the mountains from the attic room where we had great coffee and croissants ( from the baker next door) each morning. My husband was cycling & I wasn't and found that Bourg really was in the perfect spot for both of us. The house has a really homely feel too, with everything you want and it;s clear that someone has taken care to create a really cozy home. We hope to return and would nor hesitate to recommend it.

Out and About

Bourg d’Oisans is your gateway to the mountains offering: sport, relaxation, culture and exploration of unspoilt nature. The town has an outdoor pool (summer) with corkscrew slide and toddlers pool, many shops, parks, wide choice of bars and restaurants and a vibrant Saturday Market. There are numerous events throughout the Summer months. You will find all sorts of information at our local Tourist Office in the village.

The stunning Ecrins National Park has over 680km of way-marked trails ranging from simple strolls to adventurous hikes. 200km of streams and rivers (some with small beaches) , many mountain lakes offer refreshing possibilities, from canooing, white water rafting or swimming. Whether you wish to relax, cycle, walk or enjoy mountain sports, Bourg d’Oisans is the ideal base for a holiday. The house is 3 mins from the village pond, children's play park and picnic area.

There is also plenty to do in the region. Its an hour drive or bus to city of Grenoble with galleries, sites and fab shopping! There is a beautiful drive over the boarder to Italy via the medieval walled town of Briancon. The cable cars are open during the summer season for walkers and mountain bikers up to Pic Blanc 3300m where the views are breath taking. There are stunning mountain lac including Lac Lacffrey where you can swim and sail.

There is a good bus service from Bourg to Alpe d'Huez all year round
