Beautiful villa and amazing views
As a family of six adults we found the property very spacious with large bedrooms and bathrooms. Property was extremely well equipped, especially the kitchen. Views from the balcony were fantastic and spotted dolphins in the bay. Check in and out was easy and property was spotlessly clean. Would recommend
Beautiful house with stunning view
Property has everthing you could need along with the stunning view. We always walked down and back into town just took our time coming back. Val was very helpful. Sad to be home!
As beautiful as the pictures indicate…
This is a lovely property. Seven of us easily fit in the villa, enjoying all of the terraces, the well-appointed kitchen, the pool, and the cool Mediterranean breezes. The walk down to the village is easy, the walk back up something more of a workout—but not a problem. The property manager (Keighley) was very responsive when we had a few minor glitches. I can't say enough about this place—we spent a very relaxing week there, felt right at home. I just wish we had a month (or a lifetime) to spend there.
Perfect base for a great holiday
A really lovely villa with absolutely everything you need. We all had a great time.
We were warned that you need a car as it's a very steep walk to/from La Herradura and not really practical to get groceries without one - that is true! That said, we did get the hang of ordering local taxis (about 6 euros each way) so not really a big deal.
Great property, loads of space and fantastic view.
This villa was everything we were hoping for. Loads of space, every facility we wanted and a beautiful view across the bay. There are lots of areas for taking in the sun or seeking out the shade and the dining area is excellent - we preferred it to most restaurants we visited.
The pool and hot tub were well maintained and clean. The table tennis, darts board and pool table were all of good quality and well stocked with equipment.
Keighley was helpful and attentive, rising to the only challenge we had (the pool emptying) very promptly.
The walk down to the village was not as bad as I thought. I quite enjoyed the bit of exercise when getting back up - it made me feel I'd earned the morning baguette.
We had a vehicle to get around and to get the main shopping in. This worked well for us and I would recommend it to others.
La Herradura is an old Spanish fishing village, remarkably unspoilt by modern trends and developments. It boasts a large horseshoe bay (La Herradura is Spanish for horseshoe) and a strong Morrish influence in the architecture of the 'old town' area of the village. Popular with Spanish and Northern European Tourist alike, and retaining it's charm and culture, it must have a claim to be one of Spains best kept secret!
La Herradura built around a sheltered bay and beach shaded by numerous palm trees. It has a beach front which is about 2 km long, which is home to many restaurants and cafes. In addition to the many beaches in the area you can charter a yacht in the Marina del Este, hire sailing dingies on the beach at La Herradura, play golf at several good courses (20 Mins by car), play tennis or go horse riding locally, or join one of the many scuba diving centres. Our bay is part of a maritime nature reserve, famous for the clarity of its water and many points of interest.
Punta de la Mona is the eastern peninsular which forms part of the horseshoe bay. On its eastern side lies the Marina, to the west (the main view from the Casa Valderrama) are spectacular views of the bay and back along the coast to Malaga, and wonderful sunsets! Punta de la Mona is an exclusive location favoured by both Spanish and international owners, who are drawn by its scenery, views and the perfect climate.
There are two larger towns either side of La Herradura. Almunecar, 5 kilometres to the east, and Nerja, about a 15 minute drive to the west. Both offer many shops and fine beaches. The city of Granada and the world famous Alhambra Palace is just over an hours drive north as are the stunning Sierra Nevada mountains with skiing available in the winter. Near Nerja are famous caves boasting the worlds largest stalagmite/stalagtite column and caverns.
Two golf courses are about 20 mins drive away. Braviera near Veliz Malaga and Los Moriscos on the Playa Granada at Salobrena.
