Our home at Brettonwoods is located within the Brettonwoods Resort / MT Washington Hotel Complex. The Townhouse has a fantastic view of the Brettonwoods Ski Trails and is just an on-call 2 min. shuttle ride (free) away from the ski lodge, hotel, dining etc. Babbling brooks, view, fireplace, private deck, plenty of parking and all the peace and quiet you could hope for in this huge 3 floor, 2600 sq ft private townhouse which sleeps up to 14 comfortably. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to help feed your family. The Cog railway is just down the road a bit. The large tram at Cannon Mountain and Attitash/Bear Peak are just 20-25 minutes away. Hiking and rock climbing is close by at Crawford Notch. If shopping and restaurants are your thing, the Mount Washington Hotel is just next door and North Conway is a short distance away.

Come and enjoy any of the four seasons at our mountain get away! There are all kinds of activities and attractions year 'round. We are centrally located to Crawford Notch and Franconia Notch, each full of natural attractions, hiking, golfing, skiing, Cannon Tram, Cog Railway, beautiful lakes and rock formations. We are also within 30 minutes of Story Land, Santa's Village, Six Gun City, Clark's Trading Post, Flume Gorge, Lost River, Attitash Alpine slide, and much more. We are just across the street from the Bretton Woods ski slopes and right next to The Mount Washington Hotel. We have a beautiful view of the ski slopes.

Horrible Communication and Run Down

The owner did not respond to emails or phone calls until the day before check in. We weren't sure we would get check in instructions and if we would be able to stay here until the last minute. After arriving we attempted to contact the owner again with questions and never received a reply.

The kitchen is stocked with limited cooking utensils. The frying pans were old Teflon coated with deep scratches and loose pieces. Most of the beds were very cheap mattresses and uncomfortable. We were told overflow parking and garbage was across the street (it is a drive back to the main road and across the highway).

It is close to the mountain if you want to deal with the issues.

Terrific location to enjoy New Hampshire

The property location is set near the Bretton Woods resort, where you can make use of the Omni Hotel and its amenities - such as pools (indoor and outdoor), tennis, fishing, and shuttle service. The ski resort, literally across the street, has fantastic outdoor activities for which you get a discount by staying in this particular unit. Crawford and Franconia Notch are an easy 10-15 minutes away offering incredible hikes and scenic rides where you can see for miles and miles. The flume is located here, which is a must see. Mount Washington and the Cog train to the summit are similarly 10 minutes away. There is plenty to do and its central location allowed us to enjoy the outdoors rather than spend time in the car driving to and from activities.

The unit itself is plenty big and comfortably fits 8 people - we had two families easily fit with room to spare. The unit itself was a bit older and dated, and "clean enough" versus clean. It is clearly a rental, and showed as such. That being said, we came to enjoy the outdoors, so the unit itself was a secondary consideration. It needed to serve as a place to sleep, which it did.

Owner's Response: The unit has recently had more traffic in the past 2 years than ever before. The amount of traffic started to really show after the ski season and into the summer this year. The unit is now undergoing some needed upgrades and renovation before the next ski season as per your comments and input. Tenant comments and suggestions are always greatly appreciated.

We would strongly advise against renting this property. For nearly a decade we have been renting properties in the Northeast with friends and this was far and away the most unpleasant experience we have had. We have fairly modest expectations when it comes to the properties we rent. Really what we are hoping for is a property and the items within it to be clean and in good repair. That’s it. If you have similar expectations this is not the unit for you.

The condition of the property and its contents was certainly disappointing but what was more disappointing was the attitude of the owner. We encountered our first issues within seconds of walking through the front door and had to reach out to the owner almost immediately. As it turns out this would continue for our entire stay and beyond. I’ve included a list of the items we had issue with below but my correspondence with the owner leads me to believe that her receiving complaints about the property is not an isolated incident. Other vrbo reviewers’ feedback confirms this. When trying to negotiate reasonable compensation following the trip the owner was unwilling to do anything other than make token gestures because she could not do more “…every time someone finds a hole in a wall, a stain in the carpet, something broken in the unit, etc.”. What we got was a refunding of twice the cleaning cost (we had to do the work the cleaning company did not) and an offer for additional nights at the property for days that we already told her we couldn’t use. After weeks and of trying to work something out the owner just stopped responding to emails, texts and phone calls. I believe a large part of the problem, other than the owner trying to squeeze as much money out of the unit while putting as little as possible into it, is that at the time of our stay the owner was based thousands of miles away on the west coast and she is rarely able to visit the property. Just a little TLC on a regular basis would have gone a long way to preventing the mess this unit is now. It is unfortunate because this is a great location with easy access to all that the White Mountains has to offer.

The list of problems we found includes but is not limited to: broken lamps/light bulbs/TV’s/chairs and stools/dart board/foosball table/charcoal grill/patio furniture/dishwasher/electric outlets/blinds, unit generally dirty overall, ripped and worn bedding, ripped sofa in game room, ragged carpets and the list goes on and on.

Owner's Response: This tenant's stay was just 5 days after the last 5 star review in February where that guest highly recommended the unit and said they would definitely come again. This was an unfortunate instance where this tenant admittedly put out a piece of paper and had all the other guests write down every marking on the wall, every dot on the carpet, every crooked picture, and immediately, in their first day, started asking for their money back while still staying in the unit. It seemed like it was not the first time they had done such a thing because they had a full blown system. I tried to be fair and consider their complaint at first. Nothing would satisfy them except a full refund, while they continued to stay in the unit. When they did not get the response they were looking for, they put my number on speed dial and began harassing me by phone with non stop calls, 10/15 at a time. several times a day. I finally had to block their number and report them to Homeaway. In 13 years of renting 2 units at Bretton Woods, I have never had any experience even close to this before. It was very upsetting and fortunately not in line with the experiences of any other tenants at that same time.

I arrived to find a condo in a state of disrepair including the following:

window off the track that could not be closed in 50 degree night temps

dishwasher broken

bar stools broken

multiple stains on a dirty carpet

visible rocks and dirt in the entry way

wallpaper peeling off the wall in the bathrooms

base board behind the toilet with urine and rust

overall very dirty conditions

I was also disappointed in the owners response to comp a day on my next visit(not holiday or weekend) . I was there for my son's wedding, I will not be going back to Bretton Woods again. I had invited two other couples to join us for the weekend. I was embarrassed at the state of the place and that I had invited them there. I had expected the owner offer a bit of a rebate as i spent one morning cleaning before our guests arrived.

Wonderful condo!!! Perfect location!!!!

We loved everything about this condo, it was close to the Omni where we attended a wedding and right across the street from the ski area . Beautiful view from the back porch. We had two families; one with adult kids and one with younger kids, so each family had their own floor. The bunk beds were amazing. The kitchen was fully equipped with appliances and utensils, dishes , baking tools, pots and pans, etc.. Lots of towels , which came in handy. We were all comfortable and would definitely rent again. Highly recommend it!!

Owner's Response: We love it when others can appreciate our unit when we are not able. The unit has been outfitted to be a home away from home for whoever is staying. I would be surprised if anyone found a needed gadget missing from the kitchen. This is definitely not a stripped down rental with just the bare bone necessities. We want you to feel at home and look forward to repeat tenants.
