One bedroom in the Glasgow's West End, an architecturally historic area

An elegant, one bedroom apartment in a listed town house just off of cosmopolitan Byres Road. Fully modernised yet retaining a traditional feel with stained glass windows, wood panelling and original fire surround. Sleeps 3 . A larger apartment sleeping 4 is available in the upper part of the same townhouse.

+ Private entrance accessed by small exterior stairway. Fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, washing machine, and dishwasher. Spacious sitting room with stained glass bay window, varnished wood floor, original fireplace and comfortable seating and dining areas.

+ Bedroom area with queen size bed, dressing area and tiled ensuite shower room. A single bed can be added to sitting room area for a third person.

+ Gas central heating with thermostatically controlled radiators. Free WiFi broadband internet connection, multi-channel Freeview TV, and VCR, DVD, CD players. A small selection of videos, CDs, books and games is provided.

+ Towels, linens, hair-dryer, drying/ironing facilities provided. Baby cot, high chair available.

About The Owner

This terrace townhouse which contains the flat used to be our personal home, but we moved 15 minutes away and now rent it our as a self-catering/holiday flat. Please enquire if you are interested in the large apartment upstairs. We are a Scot and an American couple and thus 'bi-continental'.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2003

Why The Owner chose Glasgow

The apartment is part of a red sandstone townhouse in Dowanhill, an historic and architecturally important area of Glasgow. The apartment has stained glass and rounded bay windows which reflect the art nouveau and Edwardian period in which it was built.

What makes this apartment unique

Close to cafes, markets and the University of Glasgow, the apartment is in a quiet residential area which is full of interesting buildings and it is a delight just to walk around the neighbourhood.

We had a great week in Glasgow and thoroughly enjoyed staying in your wonderful apartment. It was a great base for seeing the sights in Glasgow and driving to other places. If you don't have a car, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a great spot to visit. We also took the subway downtown several time.

Lovely, well-appointed flat in a wonderful location.

The location was convenient for the airport (short taxi ride) and 7-15 minute walk to subway or Scotrail train. The flat is close enough to a main thoroughfare for an easy walk to groceries, cafes, restaurants, etc., but far enough away to remain quiet.

The flat includes a kitchen stocked with tools for easily cooking meals. Comfortable bed and a nicely sized living room for relaxing after an adventerous day.

Owner met us on arrival -- even though we were delayed more than an hour -- and walked us through the apartment, graciously suggesting spots for dinner and other activities.

We had a great time and hope to return to Glasgow and the Queensgate garden apartment.

Excellent flat in Glasgow!

This flat is wonderful! The location is excellent and was within walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The flat is beautifully maintained and in a georgous home. The flat had everything we could have needed and was very cozy and comfortable. George and Catherine couldn’t have been more gracious hosts, provided great recommendations, and were wonderful to talk to.

Great apartment in Glasgow's West End

This is a great little one bedroom apartment in the West End of Glasgow. Close to Byres Road which has countless cafes, restaurants and bars. Also some great food shopping. I have stayed here four times, usually in winter. The flat is cosy and warm and very comfortable. Ideal for a single traveller or a couple. The owners live above and are very welcoming and helpful.

Kelvingrove Park and the Art Gallery and Museum are within easy walking distance. The city is also easily reached via the Subway.

I have come to think of this place as "home away from home" when I'm in Glasgow. I'm sure I will return again and can't recommend it enough!

Fantastic accommodation and location

The apartment is in an excellent location in the West End and within walking distance of Byres Road with its boutique shops, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, bus stops and

Hillhead subway. The apartment has everything you need for a memorable holiday. The description and facilities as outlined are very accurate. We had the pleasure of staying there for a month and found the apartment to be extremely comfortable and roomy. The bed was comfortable and ensured a goodnight's rest during our entire stay. Catherine and George are excellent hosts and were on hand for any enquiries we had. They had ensured the apartment was well stocked with literature and books on Glasgow and Scotland. No need to bring any such travel books with you. The property is very well maintained and very clean. We would certainly loved to come back and stay and have already recommended the apartment to our family and friends.

The apartment is located in a quiet, historic, residential area which was built early in the 1900s. The red sand stone buildings with extensive stain glass windows, and bay fronted town houses was heavily influenced by the art nouveau style popular at the time. The apartment is a couple minutes from the major shopping street, Byres Road, which is replete with grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, a movie theatre, pubs, banks, etc. It is also close to Glasgow University, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the Botanic Gardens, the SECC and two hospitals.
