2 Bedroom Apartment, Private Garden, Quiet Position, Views of Old Menton

This apartment is on the ground floor of Residence Chateau Vallaya, a small tiered complex of 24 apartments built in 2005.The sejour opens out onto an L-shaped patio and private garden looking south and west over the harbour of Garavan in Menton.There are 2 bedrooms,one double en suite and one twin with shower room. A separate WC is provided off the hall. The kitchen which is off the sejour, has a large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, electric oven & ceramic hob. TV, DVD, Wi-fi, and radio with CD are supplied. All towels/bed linen (not beach towels) are provided. The main entrance is on the top floor with lift access to all apartments. Our excellent location means you do not need a car but a garage can be provided for a weekly fee of 35e.There is also a well maintained communal garden with fine palms & ornamental trees surrounding the pool which has a deck for sunbathing.

About Helen

I purchased my apartment in 2005 when the building was just completed and you can view it under HomeAway Reference 433660. I am now looking after this apartment ,which is immediately below mine ,for an Italian owner. I used to run an award-winning 5 star Bed & Breakfast in Cheshire, UK between 1994 - 2003. With the experience gained over that period these apartments are a new venture working to the same high standards.

Why Helen chose Menton

Garavan is an exclusive part of Menton on the border with Italy and many beautiful villas with fine gardens were built, often by British families at the start of the last century. Many of these villas remain. Our building has been most elegantly designed and construced in the garden of one of these villas and is on a particularly quiet road just above the main Promenade.Unlike many other resorts this oasis of peace and calm is nevertheless close to shops, bars and restaurants.

What makes this apartment unique

The former villa garden with its fine trees & shrubs has been beautifully incorporated into the setting of the new building and is meticulously maintained along with the pool & sunbathing deck.From the apartment and the garden there are inspirational views over the bay with its marinas and beach activities to the romantic Basilica and old town of Menton from sunrise over Italy to sunset behind Monaco!

Notes:
The facilities of the apartment are very suitable for the elderly and access from the road using the lift is easy. However, the road down to the promenade and beach, albeit only a few 100yds long, is narrow, winding and quite steep in places with a pavement only on the bottom section. This is usually okay if taken slowly but there will be some for whom a vehicle would be preferable. It should be noted that there is relatively little traffic on this road.

A tranquil, comfortable retreat

The apartment is beautifully situated with a lovely view over the sea and Menton. The garden is a lovely green oasis which adds to the sense of tranquility. It is a well furnished, comfortable flat.

The walk along the tree-lined Boulevard Garavan, high up above the sea, into Menton is beautiful. It is also only a brief walk down to the harbour, and to the train station. We enjoyed catching trains along the coast.

This property is highly recommended for exploring the Cote d'Azure and Liguria.

Perfect stay in Menton

We spent there 2 unforgettable weeks in October! The way to the beach takes approximately 15 minutes by walk! It's modern, well equipped and cozy apartment with very nice garden!

Menton and apartment itself are really outstanding! Highly recommended!

lovely stay

My husband and I rented this apt. for 4 weeks.....we found it very comfortable and well located and did not necessitate a car. Especially lovely terrace and garden and view of Old Menton. The living room with its two sofas was very comfortable for us in the evenings. Very secure building.

Très bel appartement

Les photos correspondent bien à ce bel appartement, spacieux, au mobilier moderne et de bon goût. Très propre et bien entretenu tout comme les communs de la résidence. Jardin terrasse et piscine sont un réel plus. Climatisation dans toutes les pièces, indispensable en juillet août. La résidence, sécurisée et avec parking souterrain est située dans un quartier calme. les résidents sont respectueux des lieux et de la tranquillité de chacun. Le centre ville est assez loin à pied mais accessible par le train, gare à 10 mn. Plages de galets proches.

The ancient port of Menton, between sea and mountains, with one of the most temperate micro-climates on the Mediterranean, was perfect for the Victorian aristocracy to build their spectacular gardens and villas, this apartment being in the garden of one such villa. Menton is small enough to be able to reach almost everywhere on foot but there is also good public transport with a bus service along the promenade (5 mins walk) and an excellent train service along the length of the Riviera for which our local station of Menton Garavan is just a 4 min walk away. Below the Promenade are a variety of restaurants with both public & private bathing areas. Local shops & a supermarket are nearby. To our east is the border with Italy, specifically the region of Liguria with historical resorts such as San Remo.To the west lies Monaco, just 12 kilometres away & Nice, 40 mins by train, both excellent for art, music, ballet and opera, as well as casinos! A number of the famous gardens such as Hanbury are open throughout the year and Menton has a renowned Lemon Festival every February.
