About Linda Nelson
Chad and I have spent the last 26 years working together, the last 24 years married to one another, and the last 17 years as business partners. We have raised 2 amazing kids--a son and a daughter--who are both now students at the University of Colorado. As we face an empty house, our wanderlust is reawakening. Even though we live at the foot of the Rocky Mountains--one of the most beautiful places on Earth--we are excited to begin bouncing around the world. We hate to travel like tourists! We want to be where the locals live, eat and play. We are considerate guests (our mothers both taught us to leave a place better than you found it) and attentive hosts. While we like to travel with a plan, it is held with loose hands to make room for unexpected discoveries. We don't like to pack too many places into any one trip because we like to linger. We love meeting new people--people who may not share our views (but will be respectful of them) or our experiences--because nothing can beat a slow delicious dinner with good wine and intelligent conversation!
Linda Nelson purchased this Guest House in 2012
Why Linda Nelson chose Longmont
Chad is a Boulder native. Linda grew up outside of Chicago but claimed Colorado as her future home at the age of 7. After 10 years of living in Phoenix, we joyfully returned to the shadows of the Rocky Mountains and have been in living in Longmont since 1999. In 2012 we began looking for a house that could accommodate large crowds because we love filling our home with people. This amazing neighborhoods and our much-loved home fit the bill. The carriage house was the cherry on top! Prospect is absolutely the most amazing place to live--filled with diverse people, incredible architecture and plenty of quirky charm. We have designed and appointed our carriage house to be a welcoming and inviting place for guests both new and old.
What makes this Guest House unique
There are few places in the world where you can find urban sophistication and amenities backing up to horse pastures and with unadulterated views of some of the most breathtaking mountain views in the world. Prospect is such a place!

Loved the quiet neighborhood and the carriage house. Bed and pillows super comfy, great shower and I loved the decor!
Amazing place. So comfortable and close to everything yet It still felt quiet and serene.
Great quality bedding and toiletries if you forget to bring something. Excellent. We will stay here again.
Great location and cozy interior
Definitely recommend this if staying in the area
If you happen to find your travel plans include time in Longmont, I highly recommend the Nelson’s lovely carriage house. It is located in a unique part of Longmont in a quiet, family neighborhood. There are restaurants within walking distance The apartment is nicely decorated, and well equipped. The linens are top notch. Any questions we had were promptly answered. The stairs to the apartment are steep, but if mobility is not an issue, this is the place to stay.
Perfect Home Away from Home
Your home away from home.. that is 836A Neon Forest. We spent over a month in this wonderful carriage house during home renovation. We are locals and know the area well-this unit is in a neighborhood which makes it feel like a home, not a "cookie cutter" hotel or tract place. It has large windows so it is sunny and cheery. The coloring and decor make it warm and friendly. The kitchen has all the necessities to cook instead of eating out, but there are good restaurants near by if one so desires. The owners have paid attention to the details: high quality soap, large soft towels, comfortable living room, great AV systems, spices, full size fridge, etc.
There is ample parking off the street as well, and the neighbors are friendly and quiet.
This is next next best thing to being home while in a new location--highly recommend.
One of the best!
I love staying here! It's super clean, cozy, comfortable, tasteful...I feel like I'm in the perfect spot.
Thanks, Gayle, for your kind words! We love having you and are so grateful for your gentle treatment of our space. You are welcome anytime!
Dwell Magazine called Prospect "America's Coolest Neigborhood." We couldn't agree more! The tree-lined streets are filled with interesting architecture, funky colors and wonderful people. We have parks with hammocks, a lovely community pool, restaurants, bars, art galleries, antiques, boutiques, hair salons and a multitude of ways to exercise--all just outside the door.
