A tranquil country setting with incredible views & just 10 mins to Bowness

The White House in the Lakes is a large detached home with plenty of space for large families or groups. Just 10 minutes from Bowness on Windermere.

Situated within walking distance of 2 excellent dining pubs (The Masons Arms and The Hare & Hounds) and just a few minutes drive from several more.

Close enough to Bowness and Lake Windermere to enjoy some shopping or lake activities yet far enough away to enjoy the secluded setting. Lots of lovely walks on your doorstep including Gummer's How - one of the finest views in the Lakes. A large well equipped kitchen, countryside views from each stylish bedroom, modern contemporary bathrooms together with a light and airy garden room and a large oak beamed lounge, with woodburning stove, makes this a very easy home for you to relax and enjoy. There is plenty of space outside for BBQ's and outside dining and lots of room for games with the children or simply lying on the lawn with a good book!

On arrival at the house we were greeted with a lovely welcome pack of well thought out and good quality products - tea, coffee, milk, red and white wine, spread, orange juice, marmalade. We had fresh flowers on the table and the fire all ready made up ready to light. The house was beautifully appointed with stunning views across the valley. Decoration and furnishings were to a very high standard. Bedding was crisp and comfortable with big fluffy towels and bathrobes in every bedroom. The pictures are representative of the house. We stayed at the end of November and were very lucky with the weather. It was a lovely walk to the nearest pub. The only addition that would have helped would have been an OS map to orientate ourselves and find nice walks but this is by no means a criticism. We were a group of 10 and all loved the property, found it better equipped than any other self catering properties we had stayed at. Loved the personal touches like the fresh fresh flowers and didn't want to leave. We will be return.

The Lakes is a premium location for all outdoor activities.

From the house, you can wander for miles along the local country lanes, most leading to some of the most noted pubs in Cumbria, including The Hare & Hounds (1 mile), The Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank (1.5 miles and North West pub of the year 2012) and the renowned Punch Bowl Inn in Crosthwaite - 2.5 miles.

There are numerous routes for both mountain and road biking in the area.

For sightseers, and beyond the incredible hills, mountains, forests and lakes, the delightful villages of Ambleside, Hawkshead, Sawrey (Beatrix Potter's home) are within 30 minutes.

If you are a sailor, then of course the Lake is close, to enjoy the water with boats for hire, or, if you bring your own trailered craft, the slip way into the Lake is 10-15 minutes away. Plenty of room here at The White House in the Lakes to park your craft between lake adventures.

The separate fully equipped utility room houses a large Bosch washer, tumble dryer, sink. This room also leads out to into the gardens. The Garden Room, a further living space, enjoys incredible westerly views from it's mass of windows, over fields and hills in all directions for miles. With patio doors leading to the upper terrace of the grounds. You are not far from Grange over Sands, a historic Victorian seaside town with great cafes, tea rooms & stunning views out to sea. You can see Blackpool Tower on a clear day! Past Grange, there is Ulverston, with pebble beaches to enjoy. Arnside, Silverdale and Morecambe are also close by. Bowness and Windermere both have small supermarkets and lots of cafes, restaurants and gift shops. At nearby Kendal you will find High Street shops such as M&S together with the larger supermarkets of Asda (24hrs) and Morrisons. You will find Banks at both Windermere and Kendal. A birthday celebration!

A big event and I was so relieved when I walked through the door.The place is lovely. All the kitchen necessities available for a good old party.Loads of parking, important for those traveling a distance. The standard of the bedrooms was good. And the views were to die for. We even managed to fit in a Perseids meteor shower!Loads of storage room and good utilities. Close enough to Windermere for provisions,yet far enough out to be remote. Local pubs busy but ideal for those nights you can't be bothered to cook. In a beautiful part of the Lakes I had never thought of exploring. We had a marvellous time!

Beautifully renovated, comfortable property in lovely location. Highly recommended .

Absolutely stunning house, which was very well stocked with thoughtful touches, such as fresh flowers in the kitchen and a 'welcome basket'. There were high quality toiletries provided in the bathrooms. All my guests were very impressed with the accommodation and our only quibble was that it was difficult to identify the correct house upon arrival as there is no house name visible.

The owner has promptly replied to all my emails and been very helpful - we'd all love to visit again

Fantastic home, the pictures don't do it justice!

Had a family reunion in Feb 2017 and this property was the perfect venue. It is secluded and beautifully furnished with several great pubs in walking distance. We will definitely book it again in the future. Our only observation is that the beautiful Aga is not so straight forward to use and we felt that some instructions might be useful for future guests. Customer service from the owner was first rate.

Just perfect!!

It was a family holiday celebrating my husbands 40th birthday. It was just perfect. The house, the views, the area all amazing!!!

The house had absolutely everything you possibly needed, everything beautifully presented and arranged!!

We arrived to the basic goodies left out which was such a special added touch.

We will definitely be back. Highly recommend it!

A TRULY MEMORABLE BIRTHDAY ... MOST AMAZING HOUSE

This beautiful house is where we celebrated my extra special birthday back in October. To say all 12 of us thought we'd died and gone to heaven is an understatement!! It is an absolutely stunning house.....probably one of the most luxurious we've ever stayed in. The location, atmosphere and ambience is truly amazing. The attention to detail is perfect.....down to the gorgeous "White Company" bedding and toiletries. Pure luxury. We had dinner one evening, cooked by outside caterers, a wonderful Thai lady and her husband. All prepared in the house and beautifully served, followed by singing, music and dancing. Although there were 12 of us, the living accommodation is so spacious that at no time did it feel crowded. Great craic from start to finish. We cannot wait to return to sit in front of the amazing log burner in the winter or outside on the gorgeous patio in the summer, with stunning open views to the fields. This is just perfect for a weekend away from it all or a special celebration. It's just so relaxing. You must try it......unforgettable xxx
