Guestbook comments from the owner

We've climbed the hill, drunk the whisky, eaten the haggis, seen castles, distilleries and waterfalls.

From the house we have spotted, curlews, oyster catchers, mountain hares, grouse, owls and skylarks. Lovely cottage, lovely hosts, lovely location.

Thank-you

THE GREAT ESCAPE

  • 5 of 5

I had forgotten just how beautiful the Perthshire countryside is. And Mill Cottage, located near Dunkeld is just as lush as the surrounding scenery. This barn conversion was tastefully decorated with a fine eye for detail. Beautifully renovated, the rooms were comfortable and cosy. The numerous skylights flooding the rooms with natural light gave a delightful ambience to a great week's stay.

This cottage is conveniently placed for fishing, sightseeing and hill walking but a car is essential. Aberfeldy, nearby was a great little village for all holiday essentials.

And the icing on the cake? The owners were the friendliest couple I have ever met. Great sense of fun and nothing was too much trouble.

A great holiday with fond memories.

I would definitely visit again.

THE PERFECT GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from an amazing week’s stay at Mill Cottage. The experience was fantastic right from the first moment, when we arrived to jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery and the pristine, charming cottage itself. We settled right in and ended up doing a fair bit of our own cooking in the lovely kitchen. When we wanted to venture out for meals, the picturesque towns of Dunkeld (we recommend the Atholl Arms), Aberfeldy (the Habitat Café is wonderful) and Pitlochry (lots of great food options) were a very manageable drive.

We did a lot of touring around to nearby castles (Blair Castle, Glamis Castle) and beauty spots, and even took a day trip up to Glencoe, which was stunning, in spite of a gray day (or maybe the clouds only added to the effect!). We fell in love with the cottage, and with the local area. My eyes still crave the beauty that ambushes you at every turn in Highland Perthshire. We have fond memories of our hike up the hill behind the cottage (more challenging than it appears at first glance) and our kids will miss hanging out with the hens. All in all, a great experience! Thank you, Grace and Tam, for your hospitality, and for providing an ideal holiday destination!

Perfect cottage

  • 5 of 5

The house is really nice and has plenty of space. The only minor comment is that there's only one shower in the three bathrooms (the other two have bathtubs) which can become a problem sometimes.

Stunning

  • 4 of 5

Directions provided by the owner were excellent. The property exceeded our expectations being beautifully designed, in excellent condition and very comfortable. We would certainly recommend it and would love to return. It is in a beautiful location even if we could not fully appreciate that because of poor weather, and the owners were friendly and very helpful.

Our only quibble would be a lack of some kitchen utensils/ items which meant being creative but this did not detract from our enjoyment!

We ate out only once, at Howie's Bistro in Dunkeld which we thoroughly enjoy.
