----------------------------

The apartment of 50 square meters (538 square feet) is a typical old home of 17th century just renovated.

It is spacious, clean, comfortable and nice.

It is made for experiencing the real Rome, not an Americanized version.

It is on the first European floor above ground level (USA 2nd floor), with elevator.

It has an original beam ceiling (about 3 m. high).

Its windows overlook an interior courtyard, therefore it is very quiet,

warm in winter and cool in summer as our previous guests reviews confirm.

Sleeps (maximum 4-5):

2 people queen bed (strong and comfortable) in the bedroom;

1 single bed in the entrance;

2 single beds in the living-room

+ cot for baby

Free WIFI connection

The apartment, listed on VRBO since 2006, is composed by:

- ENTRANCE with a single day bed, cupboard (please see vrbo photo 2); it opens on to the living room;

- LIVING ROOM with sofa, table & chairs, chest of drawers, TV, cot & high chair for baby, cupboard with dishes & glasses, iron, ironing board, (1-2 eventual additional beds), free WIFI (Wireless Internet) ; the French window opens on to a quiet tiny terrace in the courtyard; it is divided from the bedroom by a door (vrbo photos 1 & 3-7);

- Fully equipped KITCHENETTE with gas cooker, oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, cutlery, pots & pans; its window overlooks the courtyard (vrbo photo 5);

- One double BEDROOM with a queen size new confortable bed (160 x 200 cm, corresponding to 63 x 79 in) and a large wardrobe; it is divided from the living room by a door; its French window opens on to the quiet tiny terrace in the courtyard (vrbo photo 8);

- One BATHROOM with a shower and separate water closet and bidet, hairdryer; its window overlooks the courtyard (vrbo photos 9-10); although there is one bathroom, it is a separate shower/sink area and water closet, an asset when more than one person is getting ready to go out;

- Tiny terrace in the courtyard, divided from the apt. by gates (vrbo photo 11).

There is a beautiful COMMON TERRACE on the roof top of the building, accessible by elevator, where you can bring your pizza & a bottle of wine, sit and enjoy a stunning view on St. Peter's dome, Janiculum hill and Baroque Rome (vrbo photos 12-13)

THE APARTMENT IS NON SMOKING.

Perfect location: near Piazza Navona, Campo de’ Fiori and Vatican, in the heart of historical and archeological Rome.

Tourist information point (Roma Pass & Hop-on-Hop-off tickets), phone center just round the corner.

All places of interest (museums, monuments...), ATM machines, travel agencies, shops, restaurants are at walking distance.

About mirella

I live in the same building where is the apartment I rent, on the third floor. Therefore I can help guests for any eventuality. With me just upstairs, you will feel visiting family.

I know my town very well as my old family lives in Rome since Julius Cesar time.

I made classical studies and I have a licence in Political Sciences. I have been an official at European Union Commission in Brussels, Belgium.

Then I became a teacher specializing in language teacher training.

I teach Italian and French (as a second language) to students and language teaching methods to language teachers. I have many years of experience in this field.

I organize for my guests:

- lessons (Italian & French for foreigners, cooking, painting, art);

- guided tours in Rome and outside Rome;

- pick-up from/to airports, from/to Civitavecchia port.

I speak French & English and I love art.

mirella purchased this condo in 1984

Why mirella chose Rome

The apartment is in the same building than my home, so I can help my guests on every eventuality. You'll feel at home and you'll live in Rome as Romans do.

My family lives in this area since Julius Caesar's era. That's why I love and know very well my town.

One of the most valued features of the apartment is its location in the old district of Rome: it gets you away from the tourist crowds and right into a wonderful, Italian neighbourhood “Centro Storico”.

Address: Via Banchi Vecchi.

The apartment block is situated between the Vatican and Campo de’ Fiori, in the heart of historical and archaeological Rome.

The location of the apartment makes it easy to get to all the places of interest

(Piazza Navona, Castel S. Angelo, Colosseo… monuments and museums)

either by walking or by taking the convenient bus lines.

Well connected to all areas of Rome by public transportation (bus stops, taxi stands are so accessible).

The area is very safe.

What makes this condo unique

Just around the corner: fashionable shops and characteristic eating places, supermarkets, groceries & bakeries, pharmacy, laundrette, art galleries, antique shops, bookstores, jeweller’s,

Internet Point/Phone Center, banks with ATM machines, travel agencies, post office. A fascinating open air fresh food market is held every morning in the medieval Campo de' Fiori square nearby.

PARKING nearby www.parkingviagiulia.it

On request :

TAXI SERVICE with from/to the airport, from/to Civitavecchia Port.

LESSONS (Italian and French for Foreigners, Italian Cuisine, Porcelain Painting, Watercolor).

MEALS (We can prepare typical Italian meals)

TOURS: Individually designed guided tours, tailored to meet individual tastes and requirements,

can be arranged to show historical and artistic aspects of:

ROME (walking tours or transport arranged with Mercedes passenger van))

OUTSIDE ROME (transport arranged with Mercedes passenger van)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Mirella,

thank you very much for the wonderful apartment.

It enabled us to spend a great and enjoyable week in Rome.

The apartment is very pleasant, clean, spacious and surprisingly very quiet, in spite of its being central.

And the cake you gave us was very good, we left nothing of it !

Thanks again

Perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Location, location, location

  • 5 of 5

The perfect location with the perfect host. Easy walking distance to pretty much everything on both sides of the river. For those days when either the weather is not cooperating or you just want ride, a major bus stop is just one block away (Chiesa Nuova).

All of the usual tourist sights are near and well-described in other reviews, but locally we really enjoyed the shops and restaurants along Via del Governo Vecchio (especially, Frigidarium for our daily (twice daily?) gelato). Across the river, Trastevere is also an enjoyable evening out.

The apartment itself is 3 stars, but you likely won't find anything near the price with this 5 star location.

Finally, Mirella is a 5 star host. She arranged for our transportation both to and from the airport, and was there to greet us and see us off. She checked in on us during our stay to see if we needed anything at all. She even provided a bottle of Prosecco for our anniversary. We would happily stay here again.

We had a great time in Rome last week.

It was our fist time so we had asked Mirella to charter a taxi for us fro the airport. She did a splendid

job. The taxi driver was in time and brought us to the lovely appartement. The appartement was clean, quit and has good beds. It is situated in the center so all places are easy to find. We did everything by foot.

Mirella is a great host and we can recommend her to everyone who wants to have a nice place to stay in Rome. Across the street there is a nice wine-bar and on the corner is a cafe place where we bought splendid coffee before we went to see the town.

We will surely come again at Mirella her place, really GREAT!

Miler thank you for your support and help during our stay!

With love and greetings from us, Lilian and Henk Visser

Perfect location

My sister and I (in our 50's and 60's) stayed in this apt for the last two weeks in Oct 2016. Weather really cooperated, in the range of low 20's celcius most days, comfortable for out walking every day. Location was the best!! We walked almost everywhere. There was a small co-op super market very close, which was very convenient. And there was a laundry close by but it was not self serve, you dropped off your laundry and they did it. We loved Piazza di Fiori both during the day for buying gifts for home (leather wallets and purses, t shirts, kitchen utensils, leather gloves etc) and also for eating out most evenings. The cafes were great for variety, service and prices. We enjoyed pizza, pasta, and lots of things that we were not sure what we ordered but they all tasted great. It was one of our favorite walks every evening... stopping at a few of the small shops especially the glass shop (selling small glass animals for one euro each, and some glass jewellery, candle sticks, vases etc). It was only between five and ten minute walk along a small narrow street. There was always lots of people around so felt very safe. We also walked to the Vatican several days, did a tour, went to the Angelus on Sunday, lots to see there. Also did the two day tour to Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento and Isle of Capri, and lucked in with the Blue Grotto Tour, guide told us that it is only open about 30% of the time because of ocean conditions. The tour was one of our highlights. We enjoyed so many things, from the Borghese Gallery, Roman Forum, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and so many churches. The churches could be museums of their own, filled with paintings and sculptures.

We also felt an earthquake tremor one evening.

Mirielle arranged a taxi to and from airport, one of our best decisions.

Apartment suited us perfectly. Clean and in good shape, very quiet both day and night. Having the small patio worked out great. Kitchen was small but we rarely cooked, it had small refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, toaster etc. We had breakfast there every morning but we were out most days. TV had one English channel which seemed ok but we seldom used it, wifi worked great..

All in all I think we made a great decision to rent this apt, fair price, great location, best host....lots of great memories.

Cozy apartment in a perfect location

  • 4 of 5

This apartment could not be more perfectly located. It is minutes away from Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiori.

It was very easy to find with Mirella's directions. And Mirella is, indeed, the perfect host. She has been renting this apartment for 10 years and she is a fount of information. She had us sorted in no time. The apartment itself is quite spacious on the second floor of a small building. It is quiet and peaceful. The kitchen is extremely small, however, and can only accommodate one person at a time. The bed was very comfortable. We had a challenge with the lighting in the apartment. There are only 2 French doors that open onto a tiny terrace that don't provide much natural light. I must say that I was touched by Mirella's insistence that we meet to say goodbye. She is a classy lady for sure. We will have to come back when it's not raining every day! Grazie, Mirella.
