Overview

Photos and Description of this 9 bedroom holiday chateau / country house in Scotland - Stuckgowan House

9 Bedroom, 6 Bathroom, Slps 21.

Stuckgowan House is a Georgian Grade A listed building which has undergone an extensive restoration programme and now provides luxurious and spacious accommodation for up to 21 guests.

The accommodation offers 1 twin bedded en-suite bedroom and 1 four poster en-suite bedroom, both located on the ground floor. There are two staircases, the smaller staircase by the kitchen leads to a double and a small twin room and a house bathroom. The main staircase leads to the other bedrooms. There is a double bedroom, a triple bedroom (1 double and 1 single bed), a double with 8ft round bed, 2 doubles both with day beds (these are less shorter than normal beds and would be suitable for any onf 5ft 2" and under). There are 2 house shower rooms and a house bathroom with teardrop bath and shower. There is also a little tea and coffee station with fridge so you don't need to go to the kitchen for your morning cuppa.

Also on the ground floor you will find the study / library, with open fire as well as card table. Sitting room and dining room both with open fireplaces and all with views over the loch. There is a large and very well equipped kitchen and pantry area with seating for 14 - 18 guests.

The lower ground floor or the entertainment zone as it is known, is where you will find the cinema room which has a proper 126 inch cinema screen with surround sound system, extensive video library, Wii and XBox. Games room and bar with a pool table, darts board, log burning stove and bar. There is also a children's play room with table and chairs, sink, fridge and lots of games.

The house has a state of the art music system, you simply download the music of your choice from the website and you can play this in any of the ground floor rooms or lower ground floor rooms. Outside there is a 7 seater hot tub which also has mood lighting. It has been positioned at the front of the house to take full advantage of the glorious view over the Loch.

2 Night weekend breaks from 4pm Friday with a later 4pm check out on Sundays only. We also accept American Express.

The grounds are extensive and home to many rare trees not normally found in Scotland, this is why each bedroom has been named after a tree that you will find somewhere on the estate.

There is a patio area with table and chairs and hot tub. The entrance also has an electric gate.

The house is set in woodland and there are several streams so please note that children will need supervision.

The house is within easy access of Glasgow airport and there are trains from the airport which run to Balloch Station, approximately 16 miles away. There is also a train station in Tarbet, 2 miles north of the house, which has trains from Glasgow central station traveling north, through Tarbet and up to Fort William.

I cannot begin to explain how amazing Stuckgowan house was as a venue for a hen weekend. The house was breathtaking as well as the views and it still felt huge even with 18 women staying there.

Perfect venue for any type of weekend getaway. The girls all loved it and the bride to be was so overcome with emotion on seeing her house for the weekend.

Wow!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! What a location and what a house...David and Michelle who look after the property were brilliant too...

We went there for 3 days of work but wanted a different type of location to help free thinking...and wow the house delivered!

The communication from Annie and Helen prior to arriving was very good...I organise alot of these awaydays for companys and although the houses I usually rent are cheaper Stuckgowan house still delivered value...

So great 3 days and thanks to all that helped organise the event...

Amazing

We arrived at stuckgowan house for a hen weekend. The house was out of this world and was amazing. The photos do not do this place justice. Amazing is the only word that can describe it.

Impressive, beautiful and perfectly equipped!

  • 5 of 5

We were a party of 18 celebrating a 50th birthday for a week. The house is amazing and so much bigger than it appears in the photos. At first i wondered how we would all fit in, but when we arrived it all became clear. The house is perfectly equipped for anything you could possibly want during your stay and is big enough that you can escape your friends or gather together in the beautiful sitting room, dining room or kitchen. The rooms are decorated and furnished to a really high standard with incredibly comfy beds ( I want to ask the owner what make they are as we all slept so well!). From the cinema room to the hot tub and gym, you hardly need to leave the house and it's situation on the edge of the loch with stunning views was perfect. We were very sad to leave. Thank you for renting this house to us for all our friends to enjoy. We'd love to return for the next special occasion!

Amazing time on the Bonnies banks of Loch Lomond

  • 5 of 5

in a word amazing !

Firstly thanks to Michelle and David who had made the property so welcoming at our arrival - were on hand to answer any queries we had about the property via telephone ( Luddites like me who can't use an induction hob ) - they made it an easy enjoyable experience .

The property is beautiful with amazing views , afternoon in the hot tub , wandering around local area , using the cinema room . All modern conveniences - everything you could need right down to the Sonos sound system

Enough space that everyone could do their own thing but still intimate enough to allow everyone to spend time together as a group

waking up to incredible views - sitting in the living room with the wood fire a book and a glass of wine - heaven !

Will be back !

High life in the Highlands!

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to the spectacular Stuckgowan House where we enjoyed a wonderful week marking the start of the New Year with all the family. In spite of its proportions, the house remains surprisingly cosy with an impeccable heating and hot water system and the fabulous log fires are a must once night falls.

You will find everything you could possibly need inside the house. The kitchens are well equipped and there is a good utility room with ample drying facilities. There are candles aplenty to add that special atmosphere to evenings around the large and imposing, while still intimate, dining table as well as an excellent sound system for background music.

Every comfort has been considered in the beautifully appointed and sumptuous bedrooms and bathrooms. Linens and towels are crisp yet soft and the complimentary soaps and lotions smell divine.

We enjoyed some invigorating walking in the lush dense grounds around the property. All communal living areas benefit from floor to ceiling windows and the scenery is dramatic and majestic, come rain or shine. The bar/games room and cinema room provide evening entertainment to cater to different tastes but an absolute highlight is a dip in the hot tub with its breathtaking views across the Loch.

You'll receive a warm and friendly welcome from caretakers, David and Michele, who remain on call to help with anything you need during your visit. Indeed, nothing is too much trouble and they go far and beyond what is required to ensure your stay runs smoothly.

Stuckgowan is an exceptional house that can't fail to make an impression. We certainly have come away with some truly unforgettable memories. Thank you 'team Stuckgowan'!
