Accommodating surfers of all skill levels.
The peak season for surfing, with steady off-shore winds and consistent swells, lasts from around December to May, although the bigger swells will come around march. From that time onwards you can expect more consistent swells with variable winds. The winds will variate between South and North throughout the day with different intensities. In most cases, the glassy mornings will dominate and after 10:00 -11:00 am you can expect some onshore winds which for the most advanced surfers will mean ¨ramps” and "airs¨. In the late afternoon it mostly will calm down again to glassy. After rains it’s most likely to get really glassy.
Between the rolling hills of Venao, there is a large reservoir of creeks and rivers!
Take a pick and go cool down in one of the many local swimmingholes!
In fact, Venao Cove has it’s very own creek which in the rainy season is a beautiful place to bath in.
If you follow its track up towards the hills for about half an hour, you will reach a waterfall and most likely hang out with some howler-monkeys!
Reaching far into the large fish reservoir of the pacific ocean, the Azuero Peninsula is an attractive site for some great deep-see-fishing! This section of the Peninsula of Azuero has been named ¨the tuna coast¨ for its abundance of yellow fin tuna and other assorted types of game fish such as Dorado, Red Snapper, Wahoo and others. The fishing location is close to the maritime corridor where the continental shelf drop is at only a few miles offshore from Venao Cove beachfront accommodations.
Los Frailes Rocks are two large rock islands that can be seen from the accommodations. There is a crack at the bottom of the ocean that connects these rocks to the maritime corridor meaning large fish enter the area to eat. You can see the evidence in the spearfishing clip following to this paragraph. Furthermore, there are areas such as Isla Cañas river and Oria river where world records for Snook fishing has been broken. The area is a true fishermen paradise.
It only takes 20 min to get there. A fishing or spearfishing trip with one of the local fishermen can easily be arranged!
