Why Jeff Means chose Canyon
Palo Duro Canyon State Park with it's Technicolor walls make for high-desert scenery more commonly seen in southern Utah. It offers more than 30-miles of hiking, mountain-biking and equestrian trails and an additional 1,500 acres set aside for horseback riding. You can bring your own horses so don’t hesitate to ask us about local boarding. Mountain bikers can experience the best single track in Texas and will enjoy the well maintained five trail heads networking for some 26-miles throughout the canyon ranging from "mild" to "wild" in technical ability - dirt, rocks, river rock, sand, wash-outs, switchbacks, drop-offs and climbs with alternative trail accesses throughout. During the summer, enjoy a performance of the outdoor musical drama TEXAS. The play, nearing a half-century in its on-going production runs Tuesdays through Sundays, June through August, at the 1,700 seat Pioneer Amphitheater. Watch the stories, struggles and triumphs of early settlers. The family-friendly show has singing, dancing, fireworks and lots of Texas humor. You'll find Doves Rest a place of amazing beauty, quietness and nurturing of soul & spirit. Palo Duro Canyon embodies Texas’ sense of place and spirit like few other areas in the state. Doves Rest Cabins is honored to provide the world’s only private overnight luxury accommodations to intrepid travelers, offering unique views and an iconic symbol of the American Southwest for our guests to enjoy. Wildlife diversity and abundance around Doves Rest is excellent, including populations of blue quail, bobwhite quail, Rio Grande turkey, bobcat, mule deer, white-tailed deer, Barbary sheep, coyote, roadrunners, skunks, rabbits and numerous songbirds. Fun memories and RELAXATION happen here!

Very nice. Would stay here again
The StageCoach cabin at Dove's Rest in Canyon was wonderful. Well stocked and very comfortable for four of us. We spent the days hiking and returned to the cabin for relaxation on the porch overlooking the canyon. Enjoyed watching the Aoudad sheep and listening to coyotes!
I will be back!
What a hidden gem! My sister and I were on a road trip to New Mexico from the East Coast and stopped at Palo Duro Canyon for our last night. The cabin was clean and beautiful and the location was idyllic. We went for a great hike and trail run the next morning in the state park. I would love to come back with my husband next year. I can't say enough good things about this place!
Our cabin was beautifully appointed and perfect for a quick, quiet getaway. Exceeded my expectations.
Lovely cabin with beautiful Canyon view!
The Chisholm cabin was beautiful and spacious with a well stocked kitchen in a serene location with great views of the Canyon. The cabin was beautifully decorated and super clean with every amenity you could ever need. Really enjoyed sitting on the back porch just enjoying the tranquility and views , and sitting in the cozy living room at night enjoying the warmth of a real wood burning fire! The stars at night were spectacular! Located just far enough from the hustle and bustle but conveniently only half hour away from Amarillo and Canyon. Will definitely return!
Breathtaking views day and night
The view of the canyon from the cabin during the day was beautiful and unimpeded. At night we could see the milky way in the sky. We even saw a herd of long horn cattle pass by one day.
The cabin itself was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. There was plenty of firewood, too. The neighbors are far enough away you don’t even know they are there. The owner and his staff were very helpful.
We have multiple cabins at Doves Rest so please contact us for your group needs.
