About Jill and Bob Bowman

Bob is a retired engineer and Jill is a retired teacher. We both grew up in the Seattle area and we both skied at Stevens Pass when we were in high school. Bob and I met at a ski function while attending the University of Washington. After we raised our two children we decided to live between our cabin and our house in Redmond. After we bought our second cabin in Baring, we sold our house in Redmond and bought a condo in Kirkland. Now that we are retired we love to spend springtime traveling , summertime enjoying days in the mountains or on the beach, and wintertime skiing and reading. In the Fall and Summer we enjoy gardening the many flower beds that fill our yards.

Jill and Bob Bowman purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Jill and Bob Bowman chose Baring

We bought our first cabin in Baring in 1985 to be close to skiing, hiking, and river activities. Our children were young, so we wanted a cabin with a gentle sloping, grassy yard to the river, and this cabin had just that.. In 2004 our neighbors asked us if we wanted to buy their cabin. We decided to buy and renovate it to use as a guest house for our friends and family. When the river gave us our sandy beach in 2006 we decided to start renting the cabin to vacationers so that more people could enjoy the mountains, river, beach, sand castle building, and beautiful sunsets.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin has a beautiful yard and sandy beach. The access to the beach is a little sandy path next to the grass in the backyard. It has more bedroom areas than most cabins in the neighborhood. With renovations we could have a u-shaped kitchen with updated appliances, an entry hall for ski boots and coats, a king bedroom upstairs, wood floors in the living areas, and

carpet in the bedrooms, forced air electric heating, and a Lopi insert.

Cute cabin on the river and close to the ski area. The owners, Jill and Bob were so helpful Would definitely recommend it. Even had it decorated for Christmas. Clean, cozy, and comfortable. Easy to find too.

Wonderful stay and lovely hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the Riverside Cabin! It's location right on the river is absolutely perfect, quiet, calm, beautiful. The cabin was super comfy and we mostly stayed in the one day that was cloudy, although we did get out to stack rocks! On our sunny day we drove up the pass to Deception Falls, which are wild and gorgeous and have a nice little nature trail, wandered up and down various roads, then had a late lunch in Skykomish at the charming Cascadia Cafe. Thanks, Bob and Jill, for being great hosts and communicators and also for the bottle of delicious homemade wine! We highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking for an easy get-away from the "big city."

Perfect family get-away location

  • 5 of 5

This is an ideal cabin for a get-away -- any time of year. My family spent a 3-day weekend here in January. It is less than a half-hour to Stevens Pass (sure beats the 2-hour drive from our house in Seattle), and there are many other great attractions even closer. We found a great secluded logging road nearby (closed in the winter) that my kids spent hours sledding down. The cabin itself is great and Jill & Bob could not be better hosts. Communication before our arrival was great, they were very flexible and OK with our early arrival, and everything was all ready for us when we got there. They lined up discounted lift tickets at Stevens, and were more than happy to take my call on a Saturday night to answer questions about operating the fireplace! The location is beautiful even in the winter, and I can only imagine that it is amazing in the summer. We Pacific Northwesterners are lucky to have myriad choices of nearby vacation destinations, and I would definitely return to this one.

Lovely relaxed time in a beautiful little cabin by the river

  • 5 of 5

Watching the river swell and recede, cooking great meals in a well equipped kitchen, hot tub hot tub hot tubbing, hiking nearby, spending evenings by the wood stove, enjoying the quiet - all wonderful parts of our visit. Jill was super helpful in planning our trip and Bob's friendly introduction and set-up when we arrived was great. Thanks so much for sharing your delicious wine - and your cabin - with us!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review. Bob and I are delighted that you and your friends enjoyed your stay at our cabin on the river. We also are very happy that you found our wine to be delicious. We hope that your new goal of becoming a winemaker comes true. We both love making wine, but the best part of the process is sharing it with our friends. I hope you will come back for another toast to the river, beach, mountains, and Bowman's Cellars

The river and organic spaces

  • 5 of 5

Me and what’s-her-name were just looking for a place to get away from the Texas heat. So, into the Googler we put riverfront cabin/washington. What we got was Jill and Bob’s labor of love. This place is a perfect space that features extra room on the deck, river front beach, and landscaped spaces-front and back. Warmly decorated and well thought out with it’s meticulous upgraded craftsmanship anticipating anything you might need. The booking process, the owners, and this “retreat” were all honest, authentic and straightforward. Crisp morning walks in mid June. Back home now and it's 101 F. Can’t wait for the Summer of ’17.

Like no other....

  • 5 of 5

From the struggles and stresses that come with planning and organizing a last minute trip for a family of six people, to that sigh of releaf as everyone unloads from the car and mobs the snow covered slopes. These are my only concernes because Jill and Bob have helped take care of the rest. Genuine, accommodating, honest, reasonable, ... These are just a few values you will have to put up with while you are up here.

The cabin was comfortable and cozy for the duration of the stay. Even with six of us. Board games and shenanigans were a daily routine. We were falling more in love every night we stayed.

The entire process was very smooth, effortless, and enjoyable.(From booking to checking out.) We will be back for summer time shenanigans.

Owner's Response: Thank you Christopher for taking the time to write your very kind review. Bob and I are delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay at our cabin. We are also happy that you found our cabin cozy and comfortable, and that you enjoyed the board games. We hope that you can stay again in the summer. Our cabin is great for families during the summer months. In the backyard there is a disc golf basket with discs for practicing your skills before heading up to Stevens Pass ski area to play their 18 basket disc golf course. On the beach there are all kinds of toys for building sand castles and kites to fly when the breeze picks up in the afternoon. There is also a two person kayak for exploring the river and tubes with golf umbrellas for tube sailing. We do not have any open nights in July and August, but June and September have nights available. Bob and I hope to see you all for some summer fun. Thanks again for your wonderful review! Jill and Bob
