Overview

About the property

Sleeps Up To 12. A 6 Bedroom, 6 Bathroom Period House With Stunning Sea Views

This house is a large and well equipped Victorian town house arranged over four floors. We renovated the property in 2013 and this included new bathrooms, kitchen, heating, decoration etc.

We hope the pictures give a flavour of the high standard to which the the property has been renovated.

The house sleeps up to 12 people in 6 bedrooms. However the house is arranged so that it is also possible to be used as 2 fully separate units:

Firstly, a 2 bedroom apartment, complete with 2 ensuite shower rooms, a large open plan sitting room/kitchen and a small self contained rear courtyard.

Secondly, a 4 bedroom house with 2 ensuite shower rooms a family bathroom and further shower room and cloakroom. The house also enjoys a large dining room opening into a modern kitchen, a large and elegant first floor sitting room (with covered verandah and sea views) and a separate family TV and games room, which opens out to the rear garden.

There is an full internal staircase which links the house when used as a whole but which can be locked off top and bottom when the apartment is not rented with the main house.

As well as a generous first floor living room, there is a well appointed kitchen leading into the dining room. There is also a ground floor play room and a door leads out from this room into the garden.

Key Features

*Sleeps up to 12

*6 Bedrooms (4 with ensuite showers)

The house has been furnished to a very high standard and is large and spacious, able to sleep up to 12 people in 6 bedrooms. It is designed to appeal to:

*Large family groups or extended families

*2 families sharing

*Groups of friends wanting a spacious house to share

It is not suitable for stag/hen weekends or for groups under the age of 25.

Practicalities

Please note that the property is laid out over 4 floors with the sitting room on the 1st floor.

There are steps up to both the front door and down to the door to the lower ground floor apartment

The house is well equipped for children of all ages and there are two travel cots to use during your stay. In addition, there is a highchair, booster seats and toys suitable for toddlers, which means that you don’t need to completely fill the car with babies’ or children’s bits and pieces!

For older children, there are games and puzzles as well as a separate ground floor family room equipped with large flat screen TV, video and games console. The room is tucked away at the rear of the house and has its own access into the rear garden

Living Space

Main Living room - This high ceilinged sitting room is at the front of the house, on the first floor. It is a bright and spacious room with superb sea views and French doors leading to the verandah. It is furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs providing a relaxing place to unwind.

The room also has the benefit of a large screen TV, DVD player, and hifi system with Ipod dock.

Family Room - There is also a separate family room on the ground floor which comes equipped with large flat screen TV, video player, games console and sofa. There is also a table football and surround sound hifi system with ipod dock

Kitchen & Dining

For many, one of the main hearts of a house is the kitchen. This is certainly so at the Sea View House, with the spacious modern kitchen providing the hub and connecting to the equally spacious dining room through large double doors. The kitchen is well equipped and includes:

Gaggia automatic espresso coffee machine

Food processor, toaster and kettle

Microwave oven

Large American style fridge freezer with automatic ice maker and separate wine & beer compartment

There is also a plentiful supply of pots pans utensils bowls etc to ensure that you really can cook almost anything during your stay.

Outside there is an outdoor table and chairs to ensure that you can make the most of warm and balmy days on the coast.

Adjoining the kitchen and accessed via interconnecting double doors is the dining room. This room has a large modern table which seats 12 people comfortably. There is also sufficient crockery cutlery serving dishes and glasses to accommodate even the largest groups

Kids & Equipment

With 3 children of our own, we know how stressful holidays can become if the children’s requirements are not met. We also know how difficult it can be to travel with everything needed, particularly for toddlers and babies.

That’s why we have tried to include a variety of things to make your stay easy. As well as the well equipped family room, you will also find (if you need them):

2 X travel cots

2 x High chairs

Why Jacqui Barwood chose Kent

We fell in love with SeaView House as soon as we saw it. With stunning views out over the sea and a Blue Flag beach at the bottom of the steps, it is perfect for family holidays.

We spent almost 2 years restoring this Grade II listed Victorian town house back to its former glory.

The house is full of original Victorian charm complete with a large and elegant first floor sitting room with a covered verandah to enjoy the sea air.

Outside, it's straight onto the coastal footpath - turn left to Westgate on Sea and right to Margate with the Turner Contemporary Gallery and charming Old Town, complete with galleries, cafes and restaurants.

At the rear is a lovely secluded garden.

What makes this house unique

Our house is large and well equipped. It is possible to sleep up to 12 people. However the house is arranged so that it is also possible to be let as 2 fully separate units:

Firstly, a 2 bedroom apartment, complete with 2 ensuite shower rooms, a large open plan sitting room/kitchen and a small self contained rear courtyard.

The house also enjoys a large dining room opening into a modern kitchen, a large and elegant first floor sitting room with covered verandah and sea views and a separate family TV and games room, which opens out to the rear garden.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have stayed in many holiday houses and this was definitely one of the best. The house is beautiful and finished to such a high standard - it was a real treat to stay in and very spacious. The highlight had to be the location. It was fantastic to be able to walk down to the beach (where we spent all day playing on the Saturday) and not having to get in the car all weekend.

First impressions far better than the reaility.

  • 2 of 5

We were delighted when we first arrived at the property. It looked a lovely house in a lovely position. But soon became disappointed when things weren't as they should have been : the dishwasher didn't work properly which made a lot of extra work for me, especially as we had so many people to cater for. The door knob fell off the inner front door so that my daughter and grandchildren were trapped inside until my son and I came back from our walk (it seems this is a known problem but we weren't told about it). The downstairs curtains came off their rail when we tried to close them for the first time (we didn't attempt a second time, had to use the ladder to put them back again). The downstairs toilet seat fell off when we first used it so we had to spend time sorting that out. Another of the toilet seats was badly cracked and the toilet roll holder didn't hold properly. The upper floor shower door was a challenge to open and close.

The main problem was the broken dishwasher. I e-mailed the owner about this. She wrote and apologised, suggested we carry the dirty dishes etc. downstairs to the other, smaller dishwasher, an unrealistic suggestion I thought. Also suggested various cures which didn't really work. She kindly arranged for the property manager to come round with flowers, chocolates, a bottle of wine and a card of apology, a kind gesture but it didn't solve the problem or make up for the extra work involved. I wrote an e-mail about this and all the other problems mentioned above, but have had no reply.

I have never paid so much for a property and had not anticipated so many problems. I had hoped I might be offered some sort of refund as the property hasn't lived up to expectations. But this has not been offered. So, all in all, the irritations impacted negatively on the holiday. I have never had so many things going wrong before and having paid so much, hadn't expected them.

Spacious and well equiped

  • 5 of 5

Three families stayed here for a weekend while attending a sport squad training weekend. We only really slept and had breakfast at the house, so wish we had had more time to enjoy the space, especially the huge, light first floor main lounge with its 3 windows overlooking the sea.

The house is equipped with everything you could need. The beds were very comfortable. Although being on the sea front, the road is a very quiet short street, rather than a busy prom. It is a bit tricky to park though, as we arrived late both evening. We mainly spent our time in Broadstairs but did visited the Turner Gallery and Shell Grotto - both highly recommended.

A very enjoyable weekend.

Beautiful comfortable home from home a real gem.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Sea View over a very very cold weekend with 9 of our close friends to celebrate my wife's Birthday. The house is amazing. Everyone has their own space yet we could all eat and socialise together. Tastefully decorated and all 'mod cons'. Didn't want to leave.

8 Sea View Terrace Margate Kent 28 December - 3 January 2017

  • 5 of 5

The house was beautifully appointed and we were impressed by its spaciousness. We were staying there over New Year so it was lovely to see that Christmas decorations were up as I was expecting to do that myself. All the necessary accoutrements were supplied in more than enough quantities and were of good quality. The semi basement two bed apartment was a perfect arrangement for my daughter and her husband and two children with its own sitting room and dining area. The fact that every bedroom had en suite toilet and shower was a real asset, particularly for my son's family with a young baby. There was a cosy feeling to the main sitting room which is on the first floor with an interesting view over the sea. There was plenty of seating but there were only eight adults, two children and a baby in our party. All the rooms were immaculate and drew oohs and aahs as people saw them for the first time!

Most of the adults had some knowledge of Margate and we were pleased to see how it's developed. We all enjoyed Dreamland, those who went to the Turner Gallery came back with great photos and our regret was that we didn't see the Shell Grotto. We had gone to Margate specifically for the pantomime and we were impressed by the old theatre it was in. Parking was difficult in the town but we were normally alright outside the house. The position of the house in the town meant we could walk to all the places we wanted to go if the weather was alright.

We also went to The Walpole Hotel for tea. I had been there before and was pleased that all my guests were delighted by it.

It was all a celebration for my 70th birthday so we had lunch at The Ambrette in the old town on New Year's Day and the food was superb.

I would recommend the house to friends but a lot of them already live in that area so they're unlikely to need to stay there!

LOVELY SPACIOUS HOUSE

  • 4 of 5

We spent Christmas there with whole family and celebrated my wife's 70th birthday.

All the adults and children had a marvelous time on our third visit to the house.

Easy walk to Margate with all it's eateries and shops plus the lovely beaches which we have used on our summer visits.

House has plenty of room and comfortable furniture.

Stunning beautifully renovated period house; spotless, great location and sea view.

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with a group of family members. Loads of room to spread out over the house.

We appreciated everybody having there own bathrooms. Easy free parking - we didn't move the car the whole time we were there!

Room for everyone to have there own space, and great kitchen/dining area to all congregate in to eat.

We loved the seafront location, and being able to go to the beach which was just a stone's throw away without having to take loads of stuff as it was so close. Being on the Promenade meant we could hire bikes and use them frequently - we rode to Reculver Towers, Westgate, Minnis Bay (and stopped off for lunch on the way. Visited The Turner Gallery and The Old Town. Will definitely be back. Thanks so much Jacqui
