Borio Nove Cottage has been beautifully renovated from an old chapel and parish winery. It is situated beside the owners' Presbytere and access to the 15 m. pool and extensive grounds is through the old 'jardin de cure'. It sits in its own grounds and is separated from the main house by hedges and a wall.
The ground floor consist of a well-equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, gas hob/electric stove, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher plus all china & glassware etc. There is also a washer/dryer and ironing facilities.
The large and light living area has dining table & chairs at one end and sofa/chairs & TV at the other; there is a free-standing working fireplace in the centre. Two sets of French windows lead onto the terrace and garden which is equipped with sun loungers, table & chairs.
Satellite TV, DVD and WIFI internet access is available. Books and tourist maps/information on sightseeing, walks and restaurants are supplied and we are always very happy to supply any other information required.
The village of Lombers is half an hour's walk away. Realmont provides ATM, supermarket, butchers, bakers, cafes, restaurants etc and takes 5 mins by car.
Toulouse airport one hour. Rodez & Carcassonne one and a half hours.
We are both retired and being enthusiastic francophiles chose to live in this beautiful region of France. We are both very widely travelled and lived in the Caribbean for 25 years so this is a wonderful and completely different change for us. We are used to looking after guests and have done chambre d'hotes in the past so welcome all strangers to our door.
Lu Wanklyn purchased this cottage in 2005
We chose this property for its old world charm and wonderful views.
Probably what tipped the balance was the 'jardin de cure' which its wonderful old box hedges and the 'face' of the house and its cottage.
We have rented many properties in France over the years and Borio Nove certainly rates as one of the best. It's a very spacious and light old farmhouse, full of character and very tastefully and comfortably furnished. The house has its own very private large terrace with enough shade for lunchtimes and catching the late sun in the evenings. It opens out into vast grounds with a pleasant short walk around to the pool, which is in a lovely garden setting with views out over the countryside.
Lu was a very generous and hospitable host, and provided lots of information about local places to see. We didn't venture too far, but enjoyed Albi and the Gaillac vineyards, the picturesque Cordes-sur-Ciel, Laurec and market day at Realmont. It's a beautiful area of sunflowers and vineyards with lots to see - but always nice to come back to our relaxing pool.
A beautiful peaceful, place and such a wonderfully welcoming host! We swam each evening in the pool surrounded by olives and lavender, watching the humming bird hawk moths & butterflies, and enjoying the view across the fields. The cottage was so comfortable and well equipped, and near to amazing placed to visit - Albi, Lautrec and further afield, the Black Mountain. Would definitely love to go there again..
We spent a fantastic two weeks at Borio Nove. The cottage is a real home from home and is incredibly well equipped. It is set in a beautiful peaceful location with stunning gardens and a fantastic large pool which came in incredibly useful when the temperatures hit the high 30s on a number of days!
We enjoyed lovely days out to Albi, Castres, Cordes sur Ciel and Carcassonne. Would particularly recommend lunch in the beautiful garden of Le Clos Sainte Cecile near the cathedral in Albi. We also had a wonderful day driving along the Tarn River from Albi to Millau and then through the breathtaking Gorges du Tarn.
It was lovely having Lu, the owner, next door - great hospitality and always on hand to answer any questions without being intrusive.
Would highly recommend staying in this gorgeous cottage.
I'm writing this from the living room of this beautiful cottage, in the middle of the mid-Tarn rolling countryside. This former chapel is actually a full-sized home, well-equipped, clean, spacious, comfortable and bright. This is our third stay here, and we would love to just move in permanently! It's in a farming area and there's plenty of wonderful birds and wildlife, but at the same time it's just minutes from Realmont with its great Wednesday market and handy Intermarche. Albi is 20 min north, Lautrec is about the same to the south; and we got here from Toulouse airport in just over an hour. Last autumn we loved having our own fireplace, in April the nightingales were amazing, and now in high summer we'll spend some more time poolside before heading home all too soon. And you could not ask for a more considerate and helpful hostess than Lu. It's great to have the privacy of your own home, while knowing the owner is next door and happy to help with any questions. Thoroughly recommended!
My daughter and I spent a week at Borio Nove, exploring the surrounding area. The cottage is beautifully restored , very spacious and equipped with everything you could need. The furnishings and equipment are what you would find in your home, rather than a holiday house. The lounges, dining chairs and beds were all extremely comfortable. The outdoor terrace is lovely for eating , and also relaxing on the sun loungers. The 15 metre pool was appreciated very much on the hot days, and has a lovely outlook over the surrounding fields.
Lu and Freddy were lovely hosts who were there when needed, but not intrusive. I highly recommend this cottage.
Nothing but praise for this charming rental house.
Our first impression: WOW! What a big house. So many bedrooms, two bathrooms and everthing in perfect state.
The house is tastfully decorated with lots of personal stuff that gives it a personal, homely touch.
I absolutely felt spoilt with heaps of fresh towels, fine linen and cushions on the beds and a very well equiped kitchen.
On top of all that there was a very goog internetconnnection and best of all: our own private garden (big garden table and loungers for all of us).
And before I forget to mention it: the swimming pool is perfect with its gorgeous wide views (adjacant to a sunflowerfleld)
In the neigbourhood there's lots to see and to. Albi the biggest town, is only a 15 minutes drive from the house. And Isles-sur-Tarn with its most beautiful wine route is also very close.
Lu and Freddy are the most wonderful hosts: genuinely friendly and very efficient. Thanks for the warm welcome.
We hope to be back very soon.

This area is a delight to visit with its rolling countryside and wonderful medieval hill villages and towns. Albi (World Heritage Site) is less than half an hour away as are Castres and Lautrec. Cordes sur Ciel, Gaillace, Puycelci, Revel are all within an hour and Najac, the Aveyron Gorges & Milllau within two hours. The area north of Gaillac is full of vineyards and there are extensive hiking paths in our vicinity.
