Outstanding penthouse

  • 5 of 5

Stayed there with my wife for 17 days and we enjoyed every minutes. Perfect for self catering. There is an on-time boat that transfer you from resort to Gulluck .

You can access to the net at restaurant without ordering. We were a bit surprised when arrived it's better than above description.

gorgeous luxury apartment

  • 4 of 5

stayed with my husband for 8 days. the apartment is fantastic with everything you could need for self catering. it was clean, tidy and the balcony was great for relaxing and eating. hot tub was wonderful bonus that added that luxury feel.

the complex was very nice with a lovely bar/pool area that served a fair selection of food including breakfast and a wide variety of drinks.

the complex is very hilly, however golf buggys and cars are on hand to take you where you need to go.

the beach bar was well decked out and served similar drinks/food to the pool bar.

the boat ride to gulluk was relaxing and enjoyable, however did limit you to when you could cross and come back.

the complex is very isolated so is ideal for a quiet relaxing holiday and you do need to go over to gulluck for any shops etc that you might need. there is a very small shop just outside the complex which sells limited foods.

overall we were very impressed with the apartment and complex and had a lovely holiday there.

absolutely fabulous

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the penthouse apartment for 2 weeks and enjoyed every single day. The property was immaculate, well provisioned and had the best views out to sea. The resort was lovely with great swimming pools, 2 bars(one by the pool and the other on the beach)and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The owners(siobhain and bob) of the property were extremely helpful and could not do enough for us before and during our stay.We will definitely be returning in the future. There is a ferry that takes you from the resort to Gulluk harbour, this takes about half an hour and is a pleasure in itself, there are many restaurants and bars to choose from in Gulluk and it is worth booking a boat trip with Donmez 1 for a great day out

Highly recommended lovely appartment

  • 5 of 5

I went with my husband for 5 days in early May not knowing what to expect and unsure about going to a resort, and a newly built one.

It was a relaxing hassle free experience all the way.

The weather was perfect in early May, we swam in the pools and the sea every day.

The apartment was super, big, bright ,spanking new.

We loved the veranda with the hot tub and views of the seas and swallows nesting.

The saunas a minute walk from the apartment was a treat in the evenings.

Staff were hospitable.

The boat trip to Guluk (about 20 minutes) was pleasant and from here we had a fair choice of restaurants and bars and supermarket and bus station, car rental.

Some of the resort was unfinished and there were building works to create tennis courts and a larger childrens' area going on in the distance but suprisingly this didn' t disturb the peacefulness. These were due to finish in 2012/13.

Hoping to go back soon with our two young children.

The apartment is pristine and part of the new Horizon Sky Beach Resort.

This resort is built on a headland in the Bay of Gulluk with a truly amazing view of the Aegean Sea. It is in a conservation area and there are very few cars so the air is clean and revitalising. It is a beautiful calm and peaceful place.

The apartment can be reached by road or sea. Between the Horizon Sky Beach Resort marina and the fishing village of Gulluk there is a complimentary sea taxi/ferry service which runs regularly from early morning to late at night. The crossing takes 30- 40 minutes and is delightful. You can sit up on deck in the sun or take shade beneath.

From Bodrum airport a road taxi all the way to the apartment is approximately TL140 (in 2017 that was £30) and 50 minutes. Car hire from Bodrum airport approximately £25-30 per day.

An alternative is a road taxi from Bodrum airport to Gulluk town which is approximately £15 and 15 minutes. From Gulluk marina, take the complimentary sea taxi to Horizon Sky Beach Resort (check the boat time table uploaded on this site).

At the entrance to the resort you will be met by the helpful security staff 24hours a day and dropped to your apartment and assisted with your luggage.

The closest place to eat is the on site cafe bar restaurant which is 500m from the apartment by the main pool area. Here there is also a small shop which sells essentials like drinks including alcohol, eggs, cheese, milk, bread and other tinned and jarred goods ( it has very limited fresh fruit and veg).

The more luxurious dining option is The Marina restaurant where the resort boat arrives. It is good food in a lovely setting at the water's edge. This is a 10 minute walk from the apartment across the resort. However if you prefer there is a free car service that will bring you to the restaurant and drop you back home. Simply ask Horizon Sky reception or security hut staff to call this car for you.

Another nearby restaurant is on Jasmine beach. It is approximately £6 in a taxi and 10 mins drive.

There is also another small convenience shop on the edge of the site 5 min walk from the apartment owned by the friendly Mr Sinan. He stocks food, bread, alcohol and bottled water.

At the resort there are 6 swimming pools, a cafe bar, small shop, sauna (dry and steam) and free wi-fi (you will be given a log in when you arrive).

In the resort you can opt for a more peaceful private stay or socialise around the main pool. The apartment and veranda is very well equipped, is spacious, has aircon and fan. The jacuzzi/hot tub out on the veranda and the amazing view of the sea mean that staying in doors is relaxing even with young children. There is a large HD TV and DVD player (bring your own DVDs compatible with UK DVD). There is an HD lead attached to the back of the TV so that you can plug in your own devices such as lap top. The local TV stations are very hit and miss and not always accessible.

There is a yoga mat for your use in the apartment.

There are two full size tennis courts and a basket ball court on site and you can borrow balls and rackets. There is also table tennis and bowls/petanque and a small children's play area.

Alternatively you can laze around one of the quieter of the 6 swimming pools or at Jasmine beach.

Although there are two small shops at the resort a trip to one of the larger supermarkets in Gulluk is recommended if you want to enjoy the self- catering aspect.

When you want to venture in to Gulluk, it is a colourful fishing village with some good restaurants (local and international), bars, supermarkets and weekly open market (Wednesday at jasmine beach and Thursdays in Gulluk). There are also beaches 10 mins walk along the water front from Gulluk port. Fuego is considered the cleanest but is small and with limited shade.

Other day trips to consider

1. Charter a boat for the day with lunch included approx £20. Speak to Horizon Sky Staff for info.

2. Golf Course -20 mins drive from Gulluk.

3. Diving- MAY be possible with an early meeting point in Bodrum city. Ask the resort manager for info.

4. Bodrum City-castle, Marine Museum , Turkish baths and designer shopping, Bodrum Aquapark (fab for kids of all ages).

5. A day at Medin luxury hotel in Gulluk. Here you can have a delicious lunch sunbathe on the one of the sunbathing platforms on the beach and be served by the hotel staff.

Longer trips are to:

6. Epheses- ancient greek city 2h by road

7. Pumakkale hot spring spa resort -3h by road.

From Gulluk you can take a bus or hire a car (approx £25 per day, check Ozzie car hire).
