Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Lydia and Gerry,

we were here for the second time and it was as good as the first time! The suite is so nicely furnished and decorated and it offers so many amenities like, video tapes or the possiblility to launder your clothes. You've thought of everything!

Jasper is so beautiful, we love this region with it's landscape and animals. We'll surely return and then we would be glad to stay here again! Thanks!

The best vacation rental we have ever enjoyed

  • 5 of 5

In our years of travel this has been our best vacation rental experience. The Bear's Den is an immaculate, spacious and fully equipped suite. Lydia and Gerry are exceptional hosts who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, including cheerfully dealing with a very late arrival. Beyond that, however, they shared information with us and let us in on Jasper's hidden gems (and a heads-up on making sure we had our grocery shopping done before the local stores started to run low).

The suite has more amenities than any other rental we have ever experienced. The kitchen is not just well equipped, it was stocked with everything you need to call it home. Bathrooms were the same, with supplies to cover those "things you might have forgotten".

The beds are superb and a good night's sleep is assured.

The location is mere minutes from the town with restaurants, pubs, grocery stores and pharmacies within a very short walk. In the evening you can sit outside and gaze at the Whistlers and Mount Edith Cavell. Trail access to low country trails is a two minute walk.

Thank you, Lydia and Gerry for being such wonderful hosts and treating us to your awesome Bear's Den.

The Bear's Den was wonderfully outfitted for comfort and convenience.

SO well thought out! Our hosts generous and friendly. The beds so comfortable in this sweet old home, the kitchen with everything on hand, the location at the foot of trail heads, and 1 block from the main street of Jasper. A perfect place to settle into the Canadian Rockies! Really grateful to have been here in late April/early May - NO CROWDS!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely stay here in July. The two bedroom apartment was immaculate. Everything you could ever possibly need or want was in this unit. The hosts are so nice and helpful. The beds were very comfy and having a washer and dryer was great. Easy to walk to Main Street for shopping and restaurants. Very quiet and very peaceful and very private. We stayed for five nights and would thoroughly recommend.

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

Our annual spring ski trip this year was a bit more magical than usual: the conditions on the hill were great, and the accomodations in town were outstanding! It is rare to find lodging in Jasper that provides you with the space a family needs to not trip over each other. Look no further than the Bear's Den! Our family of four enjoyed the space, the beauty, and the indpendence of our "own' apartment in the heart of this special town. The condiments and drinks in the fridge were greatly appreciated, as was the coffee and tea! The beds were so very comfortable that it was almost difficult to get up in the morning to go to the ski hill! The linens were luxurious, the suite was spotless, and the decor was so lovely. As a five star hotel business traveller, I have become very picky about accomodations. In the case of the Bear's Den, I can honestly say that I would have given it six stars if I could! Our hosts made us feel like visiting royalty, and the photos on the VRBO site, while accurate, are not able to show the 'peaceful easy feeling' that you get upon entering. We especially enjoyed the photo album showing the revitalization of the property. We highly recommend this suite, and can't wait to return. Enjoy!

Our stay was so wonderful. The suite was exceptional in it's cleanliness, space and supplies. We have never found a bad rental through VRBO but we have also never found one so nice as this. Gerry and Lydia are so friendly and so helpful. Every suggestion they made turned out to be perfect for us. We would stay here anytime and suggest the Bear's Den without question to any reader! Thank you both!

I have stayed at the Bear's Den and would recommend it highly. The accommodation is very clean, bright and quiet. The Bear's Den is in walking distance to restaurants and shops. Lydia and Gerry are wonderful hosts and gave me wonderful suggestions regarding hiking in the area. I will stay there again on my next visit to beautiful Jasper in the Canadian Rockies.
