|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Our fully air conditioned property features 3 queen sized bedrooms with fantastic views over the bay and garden. The spacious open plan living room has a kitchen equipped to satisfy any hobby chef, panorama widows and doors overlooking Morne Rouge Bay, a lift from the road above directly into the house, a verandah with dining area and bar to enjoy a sunset cocktail or two, and of course, a pool deck with a 45 sq. meter infinity pool.
Trying to get away from the long winters of Innsbruck, Austria, we decided to seek out the sun and sand of the Caribbean. In 2009 we discovered Grenada, and never looked back. We are an Austrian/American family who love to cook, entertain, and meet new people. John is Tirolean, has lived and worked all over the world in the hospitality industry, and was the inspiration for this property. Christine, his wife, is American (from Atlanta, GA.) who has a passion for cooking, and also a hospitality background. We currently live in Austria and travel to Grenada whenever we get the chance.
The Hagen Family purchased this villa in 2012
When we started looking for a place in the sun, we researched all kinds of locations. Then we remembered a small island in the south-eastern Caribbean - Grenada. John visited here in the 70's and could still remember the smell of spices in the air. We decided to vacation there with the idea of possibly buying some property. As soon as we landed we fell in love. Grenada is simply beautiful, and the people are extremely friendly and helpful. The beaches are just lovely with no mass tourism - basically the Caribbean as it once was. Then we got lucky. We found a piece of property in one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean - Morne Rouge Bay. We designed the villa ourselves, and have created a place where we can live our Caribbean dream in comfortable luxury. Our villa is located in a quiet residential area, but yet close to all the island has to offer.
We built Villa Belle Morne Rouge with our guests in mind. What would we want if we rented a Caribbean villa - access to the beach with beach chairs reserved just for us, a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room with flat screen TV, stereo system/ipod docking station & DVD player, a covered verandah with bar to watch the sunset, an infinity pool to stay cool, a lift to make it easier for seniors or guests with lots of luggage, comfortable well appointed bedrooms & bathrooms, locally handcrafted furnishings, and above all a magnificent view over the bay. Villa Belle Morne Rouge has all this and more.
We have just returned from what can only be described as a holiday of a lifetime.
Having travelled the Caribbean extensively over the years and stayed in some beautiful villas, however, nothing compares to what awaits you at Villa Belle Morne Rouge.
The pure ambience and tranquility of its location is quite simply breathtaking and the view is without doubt, one of the best on the Island.
Being the 1st to rent this villa, I felt like the cat that got the cream every day!
Everything about the villa is pure luxury, the linens, towels, decor, furnishings are all beautiful and superior quality. The kitchen is exceptional and has everything imaginable for those who prefer to cook at home.
The pool is amazing (and warm!) and we spent many hours floating around on our inflatables (don't forget to take yours) whilst watching the activities from the beach below.
During our stay, we had the pleasure of experiencing the in-house chef service which is available at the villa. Bernard the villa manager arranged everything to perfection and we had the most wonderful evening dinning under the stars with our guests. Highly recommended.
Bernard is a diamond and one of life's true gentlemen. He took great pride in every aspect of making our stay as care free as possible - thank you Bernard. Earlin, the housekeeper was lovely, cheerful and discreet. It was always a pleasure to return after one of her visits to a sparkling and immaculate home.
We hired a car and travelled around the Island extensively. Such a beautiful Island to explore with numerous waterfalls, rain forest, small quaint villages and of course, the beaches. The people of Grenada are simply the best and so welcoming and friendly.
In a nutshell, if you are looking for paradise, tranquility, luxury with all the trappings.....This is without doubt the villa for you.
Christine, thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We truly had the most wonderful and relaxing holiday. I will be singing the praises to anyone who cares to listen for a long time to come.
I recently returned from an extended stay in Grenada, which in part included a stay at Belle Morne Rouge Villa. From the previous reviews I’d seen, I was very much looking forward to my stay.
Unfortunately, on arrival (I agreed to a 4:00pm check out to help the existing guests) – I was greeted by two large dogs, which turned out to be rescue dogs. Additionally, I was advised by Gina (the check in host) they also came with the Villa! This information was never provided to the company I booked through and having checked again, wasn’t mentioned on the actual Villa owners advertisement or any third party sites. I am not a great fan of dogs having been badly bitten by a rescue dog some years ago, so didn’t welcome this news with enthusiasm. Gina was quite flippant about me not being told about the dogs, adding that previous guests hadn’t objected to this, bar one guest who used the lift as a result of.
Additionally, the Villa was not ready for my arrival. The previous guests were walking out as I arrived, so clearly the cleaner hadn’t had time to make the Villa ready. She advised me to come back between 4:30pm and 5:00pm, which I did. Seeing as I already agreed to a late check in time (despite already being on Grenada) I thought this was disappointing as well. The elevator wasn’t working either, so all luggage had to be taken down stairs. Subsequently, the elevator was repaired four days later, though the key to lock the elevator wasn’t available – thus making it not much use! The elevator goes directly in to the Villa, so the key to lock it is needed for security.
The two rescue dogs were not allowed in the Villa, so merely ‘roam’ around the outside garden / patio area, but it is necessary to pass them when entering / leaving the Villa through the outdoor patio area and stairs. There is a gate to open / shut to keep the dogs in. Though the dogs seemed friendly enough, they were both quite large dogs and formerly rescue dogs. As I had found out to my cost years ago, rescue dogs aren’t always friendly and can turn quickly. The dogs were essentially a cheap security measure from what I could make out. However, with that in mind, guests should be aware that they bark essentially on occasion (regular occasions) whenever folk are walking by the Villa, down the beach path (which runs parallel to the Villa) and also in tune with the many other property owners dogs which also ‘yap’ relentlessly through the day / night.
The holiday was perfect from start to finish with transfers from the airport laid on.The villa is spacious for a family of five and is fully furnished with equipment so if one wanted to, one could stay here all the time. The villa is fully air conditioned throughout with a convenient lift to the car parking area. The villa is regularly cleaned and maintained.
The pool and the views are to " die for".
Grenada has been exceptional, much less developed than say Barbados or Antigua and retains all its friendly Caribbean charm.
We explored the island with our hired car and there is plenty to do from river tubing/ trekking/snorkelling/cruising to sea kayaking. Driving is relatively easy and best way to see the natural beauty of the island.
The one item apart from its people that really stands out is the quality of food in restaurants is extremely high although certain ones can be rather expensive.
This was our third stay at this beautiful villa - and we again had a fantastic stay. We stayed for two weeks at Villa Belle Morne Rouge in July for our summer scuba diving trip and once again had an over the top experience. The villa is exactly how the pictures portray it. The infinity pool and views from the pool deck are breathtaking. The huge gourmet kitchen is a dream. The master suite has the same views and its own doors that open out onto the upper level of the pool deck. At times, it was hard to get us to leave the villa! The beautiful Morne Rouge Beach at the base of the hill is a quiet calm beach and perfect for families to gather on for a day of relaxation. Near by is Grand Anse Beach - as in right around the corner - which gives you a different view and color palette. The dive shop (Dive Grenada) is right at the beginning of Grand Anse Beach so 2 minutes away by car. We HIGHLY recommend this dive shop and have dove with them multiple times. Truly the best dive shop in the Caribbean with small group dives and dive masters dedicated to finding you the absolute best underwater sea life (octopus, sea horses, nurse sharks, stingrays, porcupine fish, etc....)
The villa is fully stocked, the housekeeper is unobtrusive and does a fantastic job, she left us fresh beach towels throughout our stay. The kitchen has everything you need including an espresso machine. If you are looking for a perfect beachside villa with incredible views, you have found it with this villa.
Thanks again Christine and family for a perfect stay!
We just returned from a week (May 2016) at the villa and have nothing but good things to say about our experience! Communication with Christine (owner) was always quick and informative. The property is beautifully decorated and maintained. There were a couple of minor issues which were taken care of immediately. Thank you Gina! The kitchen is well equipted should you choose to cook. If not, there are plenty of fabulous places to eat. Umbrellas, Aquarium and Savvy's (try the Savvy's colada) just to name a few. The villa is well stocked with linens, towels, tv/dvd/satellite (important for my sons during basketball playoffs!), puzzles, cards, games, books, walkie talkies, first aid, etc. I honestly can't think of anything we needed that wasn't supplied. The IGA grocery store is a mile from the villa. We did have a car so it was easy to get to the store and restaurants. The roads are narrow and at times it was a bit stressful driving. We did have a cab driver pick us up for dinner a couple of evenings and also used him for an island tour. Cabs are reasonable and drivers are great. They are proud of their country and are very forthcoming with information. If you are a diver, Dive Grenada is close (maybe 1/2 mile) to the villa. Paddleboarding (SUP Grenada) is located at the end of Morne Rouge Beach. You can walk down to the beach from the villa. It's a steep! hill but well worth the climb. The beach is gorgeous and the water is clear. Look for the huge red-orange starfish. We saw a couple near the shore and saw many more as we were paddle-boarding. I would highly recommend the villa and a relaxing Grenada vacation! Thank you Christine and Gina for making everything perfect!
From first contact when making the booking to the day we left, all communications were managed quickly and efficiently, with really helpful information/advice. On our first night, a power outage in another property affected some lights and aircon units, but a quick call to the House Manager had these issues all resolved the following day - very impressive!
The property is exactly as described, being furnished to an exceptionally high standard and the kitchen was a dream to cook in, although the bbq was also well used! The infinity pool and view from it was absolutely brilliant and difficult to describe adequately unless you have experienced it for yourself. The beach is easily reached and was generally quiet and well worth the short walk. An excellent Dive Centre is close by and we were never short of things to do, including visiting a conservation project in the north of the island where it was possible to see Leatherback Turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs - a once in a lifetime experience.
You won't be disappointed with Villa Belle Rouge and all the amenities it provides - we will definitely be back!
We had a wonderful 10 day stay in this lovely villa. The house was completely updated with a beautiful infinity pool and outdoor terrace. The kitchen was well-equipped with all large and small appliances, pots and pans, silverware, glassware, etc. The master bedroom has a fantastic view of the sea. The second bedroom, while not having a very good view, was comfortable. The third bedroom, which had 2 small twin beds, was the least desirable. The master bathroom had all the amenities and the second bathroom, while not luxurious, was fine. There is also a small half bath. We loved the location- close to the grocery store, dive shop and several good restaurants. The only concern would be the walk to the beach: it is on a steep hill and would be difficult for the elderly or young children. However, there is easy beach access a short drive away. I would be delighted to stay in this villa again!!
