The Meadow Chalet was built by a local carpenter in 2013 on the side of our original building, the Meadow House,a newly renovated three storey house lying directly on the Garmisch Meadows, near the Kreuzeckbahn and Alpspitz cable cars. It can be rented on its own, or along with one or more of the three apartments next door. These apartments are listed on Home Away as Property 824675. Renting all apartments together we can accommodate groups of up to 35.
The views of the flowery meadows and the mountains in summer and the ski slopes in winter really don't get much better than this!
The Chalet has its own entrance and three floors. On the first floor there are three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, all with balcony access and a family bathroom, with freestanding bath tub and a separate shower enclosure . There is a great open plan living space on the ground floor, with a large fully fitted kitchen,dining and seating area. This room is very light, with windows on three sides and access through French Doors to a terrace with dining table, small private garden, barbecue. There is also a cloakroom in the entrance hallway. A great way to unwind after a hard days skiing or hiking is our four person sauna with radio.
Downstairs, there is a fourth twin bedroom, a laundry room, space for storing skis and boards, another loo and the sauna with a walk-in shower.
The house has WiFi and also UK freesat TV.
Outside there is private parking for two cars.
We are very child-friendly and as Suzanne, the British owner, has lived in the area for over 10 years,we are happy to help out with skiing, hiking and sightseeing information to help you make the most of your stay.
An Aldi supermarket is within an easy walk- as are bars and restaurants and a baker. We have a bus stop outside the house with a regular service. In the summer it is a pleasant 30 minute walk into town.
Garmisch also has a great Farmers Market every Friday morning 8-1pm. Winter or summer there is a great range of local produce such as cheese, smoked trout, salami, Bavarian breads and sausages and other fresh produce and local crafts.
Garmisch hosts a variety of events all year round- Beer Festivals, Spring Festivals, Christmas markets, the Pre-Lent Fasching or Carnival among many other traditional and non-traditional fetes. We also make a great base for the Munich Oktoberfest (beer festival) or the BMW bikers festival.

We are located literally within a 2 minute walk of the US AFRC Edelweiss Resort and the Marshall Centre. Any US military families can easily access the Resort's facilities, the PX and the Commissary etc. We also accept the VAT form- which saves you 7% on your accommodation.
Hello! I'm Suzanne. I'm British and grew up in Berkshire and when taking a break from my rat-race proper career in London ten years ago, I ended up visiting friends who run the Local Cure Irish Bar in Garmisch for a few months skiing and boarding. Like most people who intend on visiting Garmisch for a short break, I got hooked on the place and ended up staying! Garmisch not only has great mountains, skiing and everything you could wish for in terms of outdoor activities, it is also a really nice place to live- there's a good mix of locals and international residents who have moved here.
After 10 years of being based in Garmisch, I still really want to help people make the most of their stay to the local area and really welcome enquiries about the area and planning your stay- such as how to organise a surprise paragliding flight that will land in view of the house, to recommend an english ( or german) speaking babysitter, how to hire a horse-drawn carriage for those special occasions! Just ask!

I used to be a property developer in Brighton- and couldn't believe it when the Garmisch estate agent showed me what is now The Meadow House. A building with potentially the best view in Garmisch- directly on the meadows, with no future worries about anyone building in front of the house as it is zoned farmland, great off-road parking and it was a scruffy disused office building and warehouse with bars on the very small windows! What a waste!
Once the planning permission had been granted to turn the building into three luxury apartments, I couldn't wait to get started. Working with a well-respected local carpenter, we raised the roof in November 2010 to create the new all wood Loft apartment, knocked all the bars off the windows and put as much glass on the picture postcard view side as possible, adding a huge wooden balcony and terrace.
We welcomed our first guests in the summer of 2011- and since then have had many repeat visitors which has been lovely.
We really have had some truly lovely families and groups of people staying from all over the world, from the UK, Australia, Canada, Korea, the USA, Mexico, Egypt, Palestine, UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, Italy, Germany, Turkey, The Netherlands,France, Belgium, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Portugal and Spain- Garmisch really is an international destination!
In January 2013 we completed our latest project- a new, self-contained, 4 bedroom wooden chalet complete with sauna in the basement and whirlpool in the garden on the land next to the house- so sharing the same fabulous views. This means we can now accommodate another 8-11 guests in their own private house, attached to the main house.

All of us loved staying at this lovely Garmisch Chalet with the most amazing view! We had
6 adults and 3 children and were very comfortable. Miriam and Suzanne were the best hostesses; they really wanted us to have a great stay.....and we did!
We stayed in this chalet with 7 adults and 3 kids. Cozy architecture, very clean and very well furnished house. I particularly enjoyed the outdoor whirlpool and the short distance to the Kreuzeck-Bahn. What has to be mentioned: Suzanne, the owner, was very nice and highly flexible in light of last minute wishes (lsuch as our Need for an extra baby chair etc.) We would always return and spend another vacation here.
Good clean well furnished accommodation with great facilities within walking distance of local amenities.
Das Ferienhaus mit unverbautem Blick auf die Berge ist ein echter Traum. Bestens ausgestattet und liebevoll eingerichtet bietet es alles, was man für einen erholsamen Urlaub braucht. Vor allem die Sauna hat uns an diesem kalten Wochenende viel Freude bereitet. Auf der Veranda kann man mit dem Panorama im Rücken grillen, schlemmen und die Ruhe genießen. Das Zentrum von Garmisch ist in etwa 20 Minuten zu Fuß erreicht; dort findet man etliche Restaurants und Bars. Der Kontakt mit der Vermieterin war problemlos und sehr freundlich. Sehr gerne wieder!
Ein kleiner Anbau an ein großes Haus war unsere Unterkunft . Der Wohnraum und die Küche sind sehr schön und liebevoll eingerichtet. Etwas mehr Geschirr wäre noch gut. Die Schlafzimmer sind sehr nett dekoriert und die Betten hübsch bezogen. Das Kinderzimmer ist leider von den Schlafgelegenheiten eher unbequem. Es ist ein Haus für 2 Familien mit Kindern, wir waren 9 Erwachsene. Leider wussten wir von der Straße direkt neben dem Haus nichts, die sehr gut befahren ist. Die Fenster sind zwar sehr gut, jedoch im Sommer kann man leider nicht ohne geöffnete Fenster schlafen.Insgesamt ein nettes Häuschen.
The Meadow Chalet directly overlooks the Grainau meadows and the Zugspitze mountain range- the highest in Germany. Cross-country ski trails are on the doorstep and you can watch skiers and snowboarders on the Kandahar and Olympia ski pistes from the windows. The cable cars are a 2 minute drive, The Loisach river is 200 m. away. The Austrian ski resorts of Lermoos and Ehrwald are also just 15 minutes by car. The paragliding school lands in the field next door. In the summer Garmisch is a mecca for hikers, bikers, climbers and canoeists. The Eibsee lake at the foot of the Zugspitze offers an idyllic mountain backdrop to swimming or boating. There are also great indoor and outdoor pools.Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a picturesque Bavarian town with many traditional restaurants, good shopping and a good night life. For history buffs, King Ludwig's fairytale castle Neuschwanstein is an hours drive and another palace- Schloss Linderhof a mere 30 minutes. Munich and Innsbruck are easily accessible
Other Activities: Rafting, hiking, cross-country skiing, kayaking,swimming in lakes and outdoor pools in summer, local farmers' markets, golf courses
Golf: There are three 18 hole golf courses- with spectacular mountain backdrops within a 20 minute drive- in Garmisch-Burgrain, in Oberau and also in Ehrwald in the neighbouring Austrian Tyrol.
Ski: Garmisch has two main ski areas- the Classic area which links the Hausberg, Kreuzeck and Alspitz lifts and the Glacial skiing area up on the Zugspitze.
The Hausberg area is where most of the ski and board schools are based with a great easy blue and a magic carpet area for children surrounded by lots of great bars and restaurants. There are reds or a black down to the valley from here. There are fantastic runs with spectacular views for beginners and for advanced skiers. The Olympic downhill run and the World Cup Kandahar are blacks which could test even professional skiers and the lifts have all been updated recently due to Garmisch hosting the 2011 Skiing World Championships.
The larger skipass includes the Austrian Tyrolean resorts of Lermoos and Ehrwald which are a mere 20 minutes by car. Without a car, it is a 15 minute walk to the lifts from the Meadow House- or we have a bus stop right outside the house.

Each adult in Garmisch must pay an additional 2 Euro per day city tax to the council. It is one euro per day for children aged 6-16, children under 6 go free.
The rates quoted are based on 6 people sharing the Chalet, any additional guests up to a maximum of 11 in total pay an extra 20 euros pppn plus city taxes. This fee does not apply to babies staying in cots which we provide free of charge.
To confirm a reservation a non-refundable bank transfer of 50% of the rental fees must be made-to either a euro bank account in Germany or a GB pounds sterling account in the UK, details are sent once you have made your reservation. The rest of the rental fee and the city taxes must be made two months before arrival. PayPal is also accepted. Please note all charges are to be paid by the sender.
