Remember as a child when you could just call 'king's X' or 'time out' and bring the action of the moment to a halt? Rock Pool Gardens is created with the idea that now, more than ever, we need a 'pause button' in our hectic lives. For that reason, we are committed to making Rock Pool Gardens a memorable getaway for those who would take time to play, to nurture themselves or to simply reflect on the flow of their lives.
Our guest house offers 2 spacious two-room suites in the renowned artist community of Dixon, located midway between Santa Fe and Taos. For larger groups or families, the option exists to rent the complete guest house as a unit.
The spa facilities (included with the rental) feature a beautiful, enclosed, hand-built, heated rock swimming pool and a 4-person spa nestled under the trees in a secluded area a few steps from the poolroom. Scattered about the property are a variety of gardens with peaceful sitting areas and ponds. Unlimited hiking exists in beautiful, rolling hills right off the back of the property!

The Guest house was an old bar and then my art studio. In 1996 Will and I remodeled and converted it into our vacation rental.
We love hiking into the hills behind our house, swimming in our pool, sitting under the stars in our hot tub or swinging by our waterfall. We also love just living in this quiet little community of artists and farmers between Santa Fe and Taos.
Four "loonettes" (from Minnesota and Arizona) rented the whole guest house for 5 days in August. One gal has stayed here numerous times with her husband so she knew how special Rock Pool Gardens is.
What a wonderful and enchanted place! To say the headed pool is luxurious is an understatement. This was the perfect place for us to gather, hike, swim, chat, try out local restaurants and relax.
Holly and Will are friendly and helpful hosts who pay attention to detail. I would HIGHLY recommend this "retreat from the world."
Loonette Trace from Minnesota
Holly was an awesome host we enjoyed spending the weekend with our family on their beautiful property! The guest house was VERY CLEAN and had more then enough room for our family of 6. ( 4 adults 2 children) It had everything you can imagine, home away from home definitely coming back!
The pool was UNBELIEVABLE! So very inviting, warm, and crystal clear! Over all this property is definitely one of a kind! I strongly recommend this retreat!
Holly and Will are delightful hosts and provided an amazingly comfortable and relaxing venue for our family visit. We thoroughly enjoyed the creative pool setting and their enchanting property with gardens, waterfall, hot tub and arroyo hiking trail. The guest house provided all the amenities we could have hoped for: complete kitchen, games, night lights, patio, attractive mosaic-tiled shower, and more. Their hospitality assured a wonderful family reunion and long-lasting memories for us.
We rented 2 bedroom suite which included 1 bedroom and combination bed/sitting and dining area. Kitchenette was not separate. For additional cost, there is more space attached to the suite if necessary. The best part of Rock Pool Gardens is the central location: across the street from Zuly's fine new mexican food, walking distance to the library and the Co-op grocery. RPG has two basic tv's with VCRs, lots of books and games. The beds were standard and the bath had one shower with a second shower in the indoor pool area. The kitchen is small; water pressure in the sink was low. If you plan on doing much cooking, consider the size of the small fridge which was limited for drinks and water. The Wi-fi was spotty. The gardens and pool were inviting. The pool is heated and we used it everyday. Owner was available on site. The unit was functional, basic, but needed more attention to detail. I would definitely recommend RPG for short term visits. The river, wine tasting, hiking, art gallery, and whole rural setting make Dixon a unique to stay.
approximately 10 years ago I first stayed at Rock Pool Gardens-kinda by accident: I had inquired at the local art co-op where a place to stay might be, and they sent me across the street; that B&B was full, and they sent me up the road to RPG. And I have returned again and again. The owners are family for me now, and their hospitality and openness is a constant reminder to me of the good in people.
I have recently come through the maze and confusion of cancer and cancer treatment--I went to RPG to recuperate, and restore myself, in the amazing pool, and in the hot tub. I'm not in good condition yet to walk the trails behind the property, but I plan to by this time next year.
Over the years I've sent many people to RPG, and have returned to RPG with friends and family. I consider it one of my permanent addresses.
Award-winning wineries and brewery with daily tastings, terrific new restaurant in walking distance, surrounding Indian ruins and Pueblos offering traditional Indian dances throughout the year.
