About Caroline Kane
Having lived on the island of Spetses for 2 years in my twenties, I returned to Greece in 2012, fell hook, line and sinker for Kefalonia & decided to make the island a big part of my future and that of my family and friends by buying this beautiful villa.
Caroline Kane purchased this Villa in 2012
Why Caroline Kane chose Vlachata
Quite simply, the location & views are unbeatable, the villa spacious, modern and so well-appointed....... A true Infinity pool is the icing on the cake & I will never tire of the endless azure of the Ionian Sea!
What makes this Villa unique
Location, location, location! Peace, beauty and privacy without isolation. The villa lies within a traditional village, so when the summer visitors have all gone life continues as normal. For me, my family & groups of friends, the villa has it all.

The villas view is what this property is all about it is breath taking
Our recent stay in this villa was everything we wanted it is very private, the views are outstanding. It was very clean and well equipped with everything you would need. Caroline the owner is very helpful and responsive to any questions you may have and Sam who looks after the villa is very polite. I would recommend car hire to visit the island it is very hilly again Caroline helped us with this. Overall it is a beautiful villa and island.
I’m so glad you and your husband enjoyed your time at the villa and hope to welcome you back in the future.
Exceptional villa with truly amazing views
My initial query to Caroline was answered the same day and the level of detail provided made it a simple choice to holiday at this villa. Our ideal holiday (as a family of 4 with 2 early teen children) was one where we can all simply turn off the phones, read books, sunbathe and spend quality time together, and this villa exceeded all our expectations. The views from the villa and surrounding area are simply amazing but combine these with a relatively small, but very good selection of great restaurants & bars, and you have a holiday to remember. Caroline responded to all of our questions straight away and provided great advice as to what to do on the island. All in all it was the perfect holiday and I have no hesitation rating this 5 stars.
A delightful family and for me the ultimate reward is that you had a dream holiday to remember! I'm now enjoying my annual month-long retreat to the villa for September and have just this evening made another wonderful discovery of a perfect fish taverna in a hidden-away spot by the sea which I will be recommending to my guests! Doesn't hurt that it's 26 degrees at 9.30 pm either! I look forward to welcoming you back.
We just spent 2 weeks here and loved it! It is a lovely villa with a magnificent pool and view. Caroline was a very responsive and helpful owner and recommended car hire and restaurants for us. Our favorite restaurant was La Mer where we ate 3 times after cocktails at Astra. We went for coffee every morning at "Seven" at the beach where they give you free chocolate cake!
We did drive to most places as the roads are steep and meant we could benefit from the air on.
Would fully recommend this villa.
I'm glad you l enjoyed the villa so much and thanks for the cake tip!
Loved the villa, loved the location. Unspoilt!
Perfect for our mixed group!
A little piece of heaven
From the moment we got in contact with Caroline everything was pretty much perfect. The car hire she recommended was excellent and all her information was very clear and helpful.
The villa is absolutely wonderful. Arriving to a welcome pack was very much appreciated so opening our first beer on the veranda was the perfect start!
The pool and view are absolutely wonderful and we were all very comfortable. I'm not a sun lover so sitting in the shade with the view and a book was just what was needed. The kids absolutely loved the pool and were always in it when we were at the villa. We ate out locally a lot and didn't have a bad meal, the food and people are wonderful.
We had some lovely days out. 80 euros for a boat for the day from Lourdas, bargain! We hired some very fast jet skis in Skala (though it's more touristy down there). Katelios, Sami and the lakes, Myrtos and Argostoli all recommended. Myrtos is breathtaking but there's nothing there so go prepared if you're spending any time there. We didn't manage to get further north but plan to be back! The drives are hairy and breathtaking in equal measure.
We were extremely reluctant to leave the villa and the island. It was pretty much a perfect holiday. Thanks Caroline.
It was a pleasure dealing with you too and I look forward to welcoming you back! You make a good point about the shaded verandah; the temperature hit the low to mid 40's Centigrade when you were there which is thankfully unusual; the verandah becomes invaluable when the weather is so hot and it's a great place to eat out of the sun or sit in the evening over drinks.
View is what this villa is all about
We were greeted on arrival by Sam who was very pleasant and helpful and set the mood for the stay and had the apartment shining for our arrival. The Villa is all about the view and it is stunning to say the least. We have stayed in Vlachata before and been more central for the village restaurants and bars which this villa in all honestly needed one of us to drive as it was simply to steep for the ladies coming back on an evening. The villa is spacious and more than adequate for a large family/group. I would though suggest that if 8 guests arrived it would prove to be problematic for all to be seated at the same time. The villa advertises TV however their was none either satellite or internet based for our stay not that it bothered us at all as we were to busy taking in the views!!!. The internet speed itself is adequate for emails, social media etc.. I would consider returning again in the future with all the family.
You're right that the villa is all about the wonderful setting and views! I always advise clients to rent a car as the villa is situated on the mountainside and in any event such a large and beautiful island deserves exploring! There are actually 2 roads to approach the villa on foot or by car. The old road is very steep but there is a gentler, longer route using the new road and my family, friends and I walk to restaurants using both ways if we don't want to drive. There is seating for 8 people to eat at the table on the deck and for 8 people to sit on the verandah as well as at the indoor dining table. There are also 8 sunloungers and plenty of space to move them around to whatever position suits. There is a TV which, as stated in my description, is for watching DVD's & there is a good selection of those. Unfortunately there is no way to get SKY in Greece except by card-sharing which is not legal. I will however be updating the TV to a digital one shortly, now that Greek TV has gone digital. This will offer some free international channels as well as Greek TV. It is of course possible to stream a certain amount of TV within the massive 3 GB internet daily limit provided free of charge, should clients so wish.
I'm delighted you found the villa relaxing and enjoyed the views so much.
Located in the traditional village of Vlahata, just above Lourdata, Villa Ionion Pelagos enjoys sublime, elevated views of the undulating coastlne of the Livathos region and across the aquamarine Ionion Sea towards Zakynthos. Behind the villa the slopes of Mount Ainos rise steeply to over 1500m; goat bells tinkle as the animals graze among olive groves and pine trees, including the unique, endemic Kefalonian Pine. Directly below Vlahata is the beautiful bay of Lourdas with over 3km of sand & fine shingle beach with full facilities. There are countless other beautiful, uncrowded beaches to enjoy in the vicinity; you could finish the day with a cocktail on Avithos beach & watch the stunning sunset! The villages of Vlahata & Lourdata have several excellent restaurants & bars as well as a bakery and several small supermarkets and only 10km away Argostoli, the capital, has markets, numerous bars, restaurants, shops & boutiques in addition to wider cultural amenities such as museums, theatre & excellent tennis facilities. In Argostoli you will find great fresh meat, fruit & veg, as well as freshly-landed fish to bring back to barbecue at the villa. In addition the resort of Skala with its endless sandy beach & upbeat, modern feel is only 20 minutes S-E of the villa. For lovers of stunning & unspoilt beauty the world-famous beach of Mirtos is a 40 minute drive to the North-west and the traditional but cosmopolitan & chic fishing village of Fiscardo a further 20 minutes along the coastal road. Closer to home, why not drive up the metalled road from Vlahata & follow its winding route up Mount Ainos throgh the olive groves for even better views or hike directly from the villa & enjoy the unique flora & fauna of Kefalonia close up....The villa offers a genuinely ideal location; offering a traditional & peaceful home from home whilst giving easy access to many of the best features of this intoxicatingly beautiful island.
