Imposing 5 Bedrooms & 5 Bathrooms in the Harbour with 2 private parking spaces

SOUTH FACING with sun shinning in the garden from early morning until the evening allowing an uninterrupted picturesque view into the Harbour also from the 3 enormous bedrooms. Located in the heart of Polperro, overlooking the Harbour and the gentle goings with the PRICES HELD AT 2014 RATE. Property has INFINITY BROADBAND AND BT SPORT!. Comes with 2 private parking spaces in the Village amongst all the goings on. We have not used a wide angle lens to make it look bigger, instead taking more photos of the same room and its views, allowing you to get the true size of our traditionally kept historic property. The photos from the windows and garden out to the Harbour try to show the beauty of the house, its location, the scenery and atmosphere. The photos make the opposite side look further away than it actually is. No hidden horrors are kept out of view of the photographs. Polperro House also boasts the advantage of being only five minutes drive to Looe and its sandy beach and Fowey, (pronounced Foy) being 10 minutes in the opposite directions.

Enjoy un-interrupted views from the sun drenched garden of the harbour and out to sea!

MINIMUM `PAYMENT` IS FOR FOUR NIGHTS STAY.

We hope as you step into the Flagstone Hallway of Polperro House you will have the same feelings as we did when we first viewed it! We were blown away by the position of the property and the house itself. As we stepped in we had our breath taken away. We felt like children in a sweetie shop, each large room delighting us with the way they have been kept to their original Cornish build and the views, well words failed us!

Polperro House was originally two separate houses, now joined into a grade II Listed house with a south facing garden enjoying its own micro climate with breath taking views of the historic harbour and on out to sea.

The house has its own `unique` history as the owner of the house at the beginning of the 1900`s was the first person in the country to own an `Automobile` which is recorded in the history books. Also, it belonged to a 'Famous local` Cornish artist called Herbert E Butler a black and white photo of him and his wife are in the kitchen stood in the entrance porch. The house was used to school art, his wife originally lived in the middle of three properties before they married? The other attached house is still owned by his family members.

Live in the foot steps of Pirates and sailors from years gone by. Explore the hidden beaches and coves where the smugglers hid their barrels of rum and other `treasures`. Walk the coastal paths taking in the endless views across the ocean with the sailing ships gently gliding past, find the Tidal pool. All the local eating places come highly recommended, we believe there are 21!

Just park your car in one of our parking spaces located in the heart of the village approximately 100 metres away and drift into your relaxing holiday.

Sit on the warm Mediterranean style Patio after it has been heated by the sun and watch it set behind the westerly facing hill with a nice drink in your hand whilst listening to the soothing sounds of a small harbour. Contemplate an evening in one of the welcoming Pubs and restaurants or just sit and listen to the talk of people strolling around on the opposite side of the Harbour.

There are many events throughout the year, one being the Polperro Festival in mid June-a week of great free music and activities with the election of the new Mayor which is a far cry from the traditional!

The master bedroom has a large Victorian style ensuite bathroom with cast iron Roll Top bath and MASSIVE SHOWER, all the other bedrooms are VERY LARGE as well, another one also having a Roll Top bath and separate shower cubicle. The Double bedroom on the mid level also has a en-suite with shower, toilet and sink. The bedroom with 2 single beds and has a large Victorian fitted hand wash basin, the entrance to the shower, toilet and sink being on the facing door of the corridor (two tiny infant steps away).

The downstairs lounge has a solid oak floor, the ceiling is its original, gnarled, knotted aged pine which complements the high quality leather suite and wood structure. Leading off this ground floor room is a toilet, electric shower and wash basin to help save your legs. This is where the latest, High Speed, Broadband is located.

The kitchen has a beautiful bespoke fitted kitchen with large range cooker and quality solid oak table, oak floor and furniture.

The house was originally advertised as only accommodating 8 people but will sleep 10 as 8 is the `comfortable` seating capacity in the kitchen, downstairs lounge and the outside table.

There are three double beds (two en-suite, the third has is own massive bathroom with shower and cast roll top bath) in three massive Victorian rooms, one bunk bed, and two single beds in two separate rooms, a TOTAL OF 3 DOUBLE BEDS AND FOUR SINGLES.

Being on the warm airflow from the Gulf Stream and hidden well below the top of the hill, Polperro enjoys its own micro climate making the winters very mild-the Nasturtiums were still in flower on Christmas day!

We spent Christmas here just after we bought it, walking about outside in T-shirts on Christmas day! Our dog loves having his ball and sticks thrown into the water in the shallow harbour or on the beach to tire him out.

The private garden is fully secure, so if your dog is not in the kitchen, they would be safe in the garden. We have a dog cage which prevented ours running around the house helping to keep it clean and odour free for the future guests.

We offer it to you as a beautiful holiday home to enjoy.

The Garden or Patio is 33 feet long, 24 feet wide. It has an eight seater glass topped rattan table, with eight seats. You can sit on the Swinging Bench Seat or on the bench seats next to the patio wall to overlook the harbour whilst taking in the ambiance and gentle goings on of the harbour life down below you. Additional seating can be found in the storage shed by the side of the barbeque.

About Heather and Gary Priestley

We started looking for a holiday home in Cornwall so we could enjoy it along with our boys. We have tried holidaying abroad but love England and all its treasures. Polperro was our first and only choice away from home where we live in Somerset.

In Somerset we have already created two holiday homes that we have run very successfully for several years. Creating another holiday home for ourselves and for others to enjoy has been our wish and as you can see from our picture, Polperro is our Cornish dream come true.

This has all happened along with bringing up a young family whilst Heather works as a Civil Servant and Gary an Airline Pilot.

Why Heather and Gary Priestley chose South East Cornwall

Well it had to be Polperro and this fantastic original Cornish house once owned by the richest man in Polperro and around, the most idyllic spot and the property when you see it will speak for itself as to why we choose this one. Gary confirms that he had goosebumps when we walked in the door, it really is stunning and traditional.

Gary spent two weeks holiday here when he was a young boy where he spent most of the days paddling around the secluded harbour in his blow up dinghy exploring the many boats and caves.

Though it is two properties from the outside, inside it is like a TARDIS, the rooms seem to keep appearing and flow effortlessly into each other. You will be hard pushed to work out where the places used to be separated. PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO TAKEN BY A VISITOR, TO BE FOUND BY SCROLLING DOWN THIS SITE AT THE END OF THE ROOM SIZES, JUST BEFORE THE REVIEWS, TO GET A TRUE FEEL FOR THE SIZE. Walk into the Harbour with your young family and watch them paddling in the safe shallow sea whilst sitting on the bridge wall eating your sandwich`s or ice cream bought from the best shop in Cornwall or walk onto the beach to explore the cave where possibly the Pirates used to hide their treasures?

What makes this house unique

We walked into the garden, looked at the stunning views into the Harbour, then remembered when we got our breath back, to go into the house.

The house is stunning with views of the Harbour and sea from most windows. We viewed each room and could not stop going back to the start to take in the truly great property that we were in. It has fantastic history, it is stunning and we cannot wait to enjoy it ourselves and for you to enjoy it as well.

Have your breakfast in bed and look out into the Harbour watching people going about their day, pondering what adventures you can go on, or sit out on the patio enjoying the morning sun with the rest of your family enjoying an Al Fresco breakfast.

If you like straight walls, level floors, stark white clinical decor, high ceilings and building regulation size doors-this is not the place for you. One door is 21' x 68' and not square, several are similar in height and width, floors slope, the walls are uneven. the lounge is original, as it was years ago, with low wooden ceiling, solid oak floor, exposed stone wall, making it feel warm and relaxing. The entrance door is low and crooked, with a traditional Cornish style stable door.

This house is mentioned in the history books as belonging to the first person to own an automobile in Great Britain.

Master Bedroom 17`x13` plus 13` x 9` ensuite.

Two Harbour facing bedrooms at 17` x 10` one ensuite

`Ships Cabin` 13` x 8` with bunk bed from reclaimed timber.

Second bedroom with two single beds that will sleep 2 with ample space 14` x 9`

There is a downstairs toilet and electric shower room hidden very nicely behind the down stairs lounge next to the washing machine and tumble drier

Inside you will find it hard to see that it was originally two properties as the rooms flow from each othe

Have been working with holiday lets for over twenty years and must say that I was so impressed with this property and location. The rooms are huge, the bathrooms with their roll top baths are stunning and the views, what a location, location!!!!

Amazing house and area. Great relaxing week.

What a house! We had an amazing weeks holiday in Polperro. The house was large, clean, comfortable with all mod cons, lovely quality furniture but in an old rambling house. Large rooms, great views, nice to sit in bed lookung onto the harbour-what a treat. I miss that View. Lovely terrace! was a lovely treat. Felt like a home. Couch's restaurant is a must for that extra special treat by a Chef trained under Gordon Ramsey and others. Children loved the rock pool and messing about in the inflatable dinghy in the safe harbou.Easy and friendly communication with the owner Gary. Will be be back? Yes of course!

Another existance.

Absolutely cracking house in an ideal location. It was a good find for us. Been coming to this area for years. Loved The Blue Peter. Excellent food in Couchs restaurant. Kitchen restaurant under new ownership not as good as it used to be. Great to be in the heart of the village but away from the visitors.

Our group of 8, sat, read and agreed with all the positive previous comments. The single bedrooms were great for children with no sea view which would be impossible in a house of this size but who looks out of the window when your asleep? The adults got the bonus of the majestic views. Eating breakfast in bed was a great start to the day. Good ensuite, beds, quality linen and furniture. Tasteful and sympathetic thoughts were put in the lay out. We will be back

An ideal holiday property for families /groups.

we had a great time in your lovely house/have many fond memories. A very easy house to live in, well equipped and a fantastic view, copied in many paintings in the shops in Polperro!. Nice that there were plenty of towels provided and that the bed-linen was of good quality too. Sofas very comfortable (bad experiences in other stays where owners do not address comfort - you have taken time to do this and is well noted). It is somewhere we would like to come back to - and this is probably the biggest compliment of all,

What a Gem !

..the house, the view and the lovely village. My host, a pal for over 50 years

now resident in California, described it as 'pure Disney'. Behind the 'Cornish quaint'

of the exterior hide en-suite rooms of great comfort and style and a kitchen\diner

I wanted to take home. A great spring board for Looe, Fowey, Bodmin Moor,

Heligan, the Eden project and North to the Camel estuary. A village with at least.

5 pubs, all with marvellous food, and warm welcomes to go with it. Am still singing

the Shanties learnt in 'The Ship'. Happy Days in Polperro ! "

stunning location

Would highly recommend this property, like home from home. Very spacious house and stunning views from the garden. Polperro is a beautiful place to stay, lots of good restaurants to choose from. The children loved swimming in the sea. Would highly recommend staying at this property

I have just spent a week working on the house. It was great to put on my wetsuit at the end of the day and go Snorkeling in the Harbour and Beach area. Great invigorating "pick me up" at the end of a busy day.

Lovely April spring days in Polperro

We (four adults) had a wonderful week in Polperro House, where there is much room in a lovely large and well-appointed house. The area around Polperro offers a myriad of experiences, our April week was a little chilly, so it was great to get indoors in the house with lovely warm, well-functioning wi-fi and a kitchen that is well equipped. And then there is an outstanding view from the house!!

What's to do at (and from) Polperro?

1. Explore Polperro - narrow winding streets & lanes with great views of the picturesque harbour and village at every turn – you will need your camera. 2. Browse the eclectic mixture of quirky and fascinating shops or appreciate the Polperro Arts Foundation in a beautiful large space overlooking Polperro's historic harbour and the fish quay. Founded ten years ago, it is continuing Polperro's long association with the arts and crafts and has existed as a studio-gallery for nearly 50 yrs. It has a broad membership of artists, photographers and craftspeople supported by many friends and sponsors including the Lottery Fund. 3. Enjoy the selection of great pubs, cafes and restaurants. 4. Visit Polperro's unique Heritage museum of fishing and smuggling and learn about Polperro's colourful past. 5. And, when you've done all that, there are wonderful coastal walks on the South West Coastal Path - east to Talland Bay and Looe, west to Lansallos, Lantic Bay and Polruan. 6. There are boat trips and 7. shark fishing. 8. Cornwall's biggest tourist attraction -The Eden Project - is an easy 30 mins drive (open all year). 9. To park outside to drop off your items you will need to turn left 8/10' of a mile after passing the GULF petrol station sign posted Kilgarth holiday village. Follow this road past Killgarth Holiday Village and turn left at the end down Talland Hill. Or, After about 20 yards take the second right down the single track (this is one car width wide) keep going down the hill through the houses until it becomes narrow enough to pass with a small space between the wing mirrors (house door on your right our wall on your left) then there is a pull-in to park a small car, Ford Focus etc. I park my Land Rover Defender 110 in the slot

4 night breaks are charged at 75% week rental. Monthly rentals are also available on request in the low season.
If bringing a dog an additional charge of £25.00 is added to the booking.
All bookings require a damage booking deposit of £200.00 that will be held until the accommodation is checked by the housekeeper who will confirm that all is in order.
Additional guest fee, £75.00 per week
DEPOSIT
Bookings will only be accepted upon receipt of a deposit payment of 50% or greater of the total cost of the holiday. Upon receipt of the deposit, Homeaway will issue a confirmation of booking by email which constitutes a legal and binding contract between both parties. The calendar will then be amended to show booked, thus no longer enabling any other person/s to book the same week, weeks or days. There is no administration fee. Payments are taken by Online Bank Transfers, PayPal, cheques or cash. Once the property is booked, it becomes the responsibility of the person/s renting to pay the final payment 6 weeks prior to arrival.
FINAL PAYMENT
Once the Deposit is received and accepted by homeaway, the applicants are liable for the payment of the balance of the rental cost, just short of six weeks before the arrival date. The balance due by date will be slightly before the strict 6 week due by date - this is to ensure the balance payment has been honoured by the 6 week period. Non payment by the due date will be treated as cancellation and the Property Managers may re-let the property without reference to the applicants, who remain liable for payment of the full amount.
DAMAGE DEPOSIT Damage Deposit will be refunded after the property has been vacated, cleaned and inspected. If there are any items that are broken or missing, money will be deducted from the Damage Deposit.
